Chapter four
Olivia's house
David couldn’t shake off the feeling of disappointment after his confrontation with his mother at the charity event. He had only gone to the event to show support, but now he felt suffocated by her expectations and control.
As he drove back to his own apartment, he couldn’t help but think of Olivia. He needed to see her.
He sent Olivia a text asking, “Babe, are you back from your appointment? I need to see you tonight. Can I come over to your place?”
Olivia replied immediately as she received his message: “Hi Sweetie, I was just about to text you when your message came in. Do come over.”
That night, David arrived at Olivia’s cozy place. The soft glow of warm lights welcomed him, and the scent of vanilla candles filled the air. Olivia stood by the door, wearing a simple yet elegant dress that enhanced her curves..
She welcomed him with a tight hug, and he felt a sense of comfort. Olivia’s face lit up with an ecstatic smile. She leaned in, her eyes locked on David’s, and pressed her lips to his. The kiss was soft and gentle at first, but they deepened it with urgency. They stumbled toward her couch, smoothing and caressing each other lovingly.
When they finally broke apart, Olivia’s eyes sparkled with adoration. She gazed at David with a look that said, “I am so glad you’re here. I have missed you.” The affection in her eyes was visible, and David’s heart swelled with love and gratitude for this special woman who knew what he wanted without even asking.
David held her hands over his heart and said to her, “See how my heart beats for you.” They sat like this for some time, wrapped in each other’s warmth.
Later, as they sipped wine, David asked about her day. “Were you able to agree on the price with your clients?” he inquired.
“Yes,” Olivia replied. “It was a good deal, thank you.” She continued, “How was the gala event?”
David hesitated. He didn’t want to burden Olivia with the details of his confrontation with his mother. “It had a good turnout,” he said vaguely. “But I didn’t stay long because I missed you.”
As David’s fingers continued to caress her hair. “Olivia” he began softly, “there is something I have been meaning to tell you.”
She looked at him, curious. “What is it?”
He took a deep breath. “I have fallen in love with you,” David confessed. “I can’t keep it to myself anymore.”
Olivia’s heart raced. She hadn’t expected this revelation so soon.
“David” she said, her voice equally vulnerable, “I feel the same way about you.”
Soon it was almost midnight,David left Olivia’s apartment reluctantly that night, pressing a kiss on her forehead. “I’ll be back,” he promised. “Tomorrow, and every day after that.”
Love had found him unexpectedly.
