Anwen Is Trying To Cheer Rion Up

1223 Words
"BROTHER!" Anwen made Dan run faster to catch up to Rion. She left everyone behind. The people could only be flabbergasted as the two siblings quickly sank into the distance. No one could match Rion's riding speed other than Anwen and Trish. Rion hated his current feelings. He felt like a mess. He was sad, scared, and angry at the same time. Odette's image appeared in his mind. 'You said I was a good man, after that you said I was a jerk, and I don't deserve to be loved. Your words were outrageous. You immediately got angry and didn't want to listen to my explanation.' His horse galloped through the wind, and Anwen continued to chase him. "BROTHER!" Rion's mind was elsewhere so he didn't listen to Anwen's shouts. In order to make her brother stop, Anwen took a shortcut. She suddenly appeared in front of Rion. This took Rion by surprise, and he forcibly had to halt his horse. "What are you doing, Anwen?" "Stopping you." Anwen made Dan walk closer to Rion's horse. She then took a closer look at her brother's face. "Brother, what's wrong? If you have a problem, you can share it with me." She smiled sweetly. "Well, although I may not be able to help, I will be a good listener. Miss Ody said sharing your problem with other people can make you feel better and it's true." "You're starting to become like her." "Oh, really?" Anwen scratched the back of her head. "How can I not, I really like Miss Ody, and I seem to subconsciously copy her." Rion silently stared at his sister's face. Anwen looked very happy when talking about Odette. "Brother…" Anwen's face became serious and then she smiled faintly. "Let's celebrate our improved relationship. We didn't speak to each other for so long. So, I think it's worth celebrating. Hehe." This time she smiled broadly, showing a row of teeth. She really couldn't maintain her graceful expression for even five seconds. Anwen's real purpose in asking Rion to celebrate their improving relationship was because she wanted to improve her brother's mood. It was obvious that his mood was currently looking very bad. She thought Rion was like that because he was thinking of Aiden, Rose, and Lucas. Odette told Anwen that if Rion felt pressured, then he would be easier to be taken over by his alters. Anwen wished she could make Rion feel better. "Not now, Anwen," Rion refused. "Why?" Anwen stared fixedly at Rion's flat face. "If you refused because you're worried that Lucifer will hurt me, I promise to take good care of myself. At Green Castle, I was just shocked. And that's why my body became immobile. But now I know what happened to you, so I won't let Lucifer hurt me. Besides, you already know what I'm capable of, right? I'm very talented in fighting and very fast when running." Rion still looked objected. Besides now he felt very disinterested in doing anything but… "Brother… I beg you." Anwen pleaded. She looked very hopeful. "Okay." Rion couldn't keep rejecting Anwen because she was now begging him. After she heard Rion's answer, Anwen's face immediately brightened. The special time for brother and sister began. First, Anwen took Rion to Rodeom, a horse racing venue owned by Rudi Doremi. There, she invited Rion to race. When they arrived, they immediately became the center of attention of the people there. Rudi Doremi was a man who was about half a century old but still looked very fit. He approached the royal siblings and greeted them. "Greetings, Your Majesty the King and Your Highness Princess Anwen," he said as he took off his hat, and bowed respectfully. Rudi was one of the owners of the largest racetrack in Panthera. Every year, he and the horses in Rodeom always participated in the carnival held by the royal government at the closing of spring. Anwen conveyed her wish to Rudi, that she and her brother wanted to race. Rudi immediately ordered his people to vacate the arena. It didn't take long at all for the arena to be vacated for the king and princess. Rion took off his heavy outer clothes and was again seen wearing a plain black long-sleeved shirt. "Would you like to use your own horse, Your Majesty?" Rudi asked after Rion pulled his sleeves up to his elbows. "We will use the horses from Rodeom," Anwen said. She turned to Rion, "What do you think, Brother?"  "It's up to you." "Okay then. Please, Uncle," Anwen said smiling sweetly at Uncle Rudi. "Alright, I will prepare the horses." Rudi went to prepare two of his best horses. Anwen and Rion were still getting ready. Anwen approached her horse and Rion's horse, "Dan and Derby. You guys wait here a moment, okay?" The two horses nodded in understanding. Rion glanced at her, "Why don't you want to use Dan?" "Riding on the new horse adds to the challenge. Dan and Derby have been very obedient to us, so it's less challenging." Dan and Derby rolled their eyes at hearing it. Not long after, Rudi came to bring two fresh horses for them. The visitors, who were now sitting in the audience, were excited to see Rion and Anwen race horses. The news about them being the fastest horsemen was already well known among the equestrian audience. Whoops! Anwen jumped onto the horse. She looked very excited. "Well, Brother, are you ready to lose to me?" she asked confidently, it made Rion feel a little ticklish. "You mean, YOU lose to me, hm?" For a moment, he and Anwen glanced at each other and flashed smiles that seemed to challenge each other. Then, they held the reins of their horses firmly, while they stared intently ahead. Rudi entered the arena and gave the signal while waving the flag. The two brown horses stood proudly in the sun and then immediately galloped as soon as Rudi said 'START!' WOOOO! All the spectators stood up and shouted excitedly when they saw the two horses galloping very fast through the wind, and left dust flying behind. Rudi seemed to be standing in his place with a blue forehead. 'I hope those two humans don't destroy my precious horses.' He massaged his temples and made a wish to the gods. "The loser will eat the dust!" Anwen said mockingly and made her horse run ahead of Rion's. "It's not that easy," said Rion with a smile and then made his horse run faster. He was now with Anwen, and it didn't take long for him to get ahead of her. In order to prevent the girl from passing him again, he made his horse gallop right in front of Anwen. Anwen smiled suspiciously. She gripped the reins tighter and… Wooosh… Rion stopped his horse and was flabbergasted to see Anwen's horse pass over him and land two meters in front of him. "Brother!" Anwen looked back while giving a thumbs up to Rion, who was shocked to see her actions just now. Rion smiled when he saw what she did. He then tightened his reins and controlled his horse to chase Anwen. For a moment, he forgot about his problems. Anwen's ridicule provoked him to awaken the spirit within him, namely the passion to… Compete!
