Anwen straightened her legs while her hands rested on the ground to support her back. Her eyes stared at the twilight sky, then her face became very serious.
"Brother," she called softly.
Rion turned his head and looked at her questioningly. "Yes?"
"In your opinion, what do you think the place Miss Ody came from is like?" Anwen asked, which made Rion confused. He didn't understand why Anwen suddenly asked that.
"Why are you suddenly asking that?"
"I'm just really curious. Miss Ody said the place she came from was amazing. Honestly, I feel scared when I think that one day she will return to where she came from, and I won't be able to see her again forever."
THUMP!
Rion was stunned. Couldn't meet Odette again for good? His chest suddenly tightened slightly at the thought.
Anwen's eyes narrowed and looked sad. "Even though I just met her, I already like her very much. For me she is a very valuable friend. Ever since she got here, every day feels more fun. I don't think I really want her to go back to where she came from."
Rion was silent. In the depths of his heart, he also felt the same way that Anwen felt. He wasn''t willing for Odette return to her time.
"Did you know? Our relationship improved thanks to Miss Ody." Anwen turned her head to see Rion, who was looking at her. He was slightly furrowing his eyebrows.
Anwen looked back at the sky dejectedly.
"All this time, I was always afraid to talk to you, because I thought you hated me. I did a lot of mischief because I wanted to make you talk to me first. Even if it was in the form of shouting or anger, I really wanted to hear you talk to me, but it never happened. So, I was even more convinced that you really hated me," Anwen said. She surprised Rion.
"Wh-why would you think like that?" Rion didn't expect Anwen to think that way.
"Because I'm Queen Helen's daughter and Aiden's younger sister, the two people who have caused you to lose Rose and Knight Lucas. Miss Ody came and told me that I was wrong, and she kept pushing me to talk to you. If she didn't do that, today we still wouldn't be talking to each other."
Rion silently looked at his sister closely, then he turned to look at the lake. He remembered when Odette said that Anwen really missed him.
"So… that's what you've been thinking about me all this time. Just like you, all this time I also thought that you hated me, because I sentenced your mother and brother to death," he said.
"What?!" Anwen was surprised when she heard the reason why Rion wouldn't talk to her all this time. It turned out they both had the same misunderstanding.
"Brother…"
Rion smiled faintly. Anwen soon laughed, "Apparently the reason we haven't spoken in years was just a misunderstanding. That's ridiculous."
Rion chuckled.
"You're right," he said and looked at the lake again. His eyes narrowed as he was lost in his own thoughts.
Misunderstandings, if not immediately corrected, would cause the lives of those who misunderstood to suffer. They would feel guilty when the truth was finally revealed.
Due to a misunderstanding, Rion once hated his wife and best friend. The misunderstanding made him blind with jealousy, and it caused him to lose two of the most precious people in his life.
Due to a misunderstanding, he and his sister had not spoken with each other for years.
He remembered Odette this morning. The girl had misunderstood him. He had to explain to the girl that it wasn't him who assaulted her, but one of his personalities.
Okay, it's the same, still, he did it, but it wasn't something he did on purpose or premeditated.
Rion reached into his shirt pocket and took out almost all the money that was there. He then gave it to Anwen.
"Go back to the palace in a rental carriage. I'll borrow Dan for a while. When you get to the palace, tell Trish to buy back Derby." Rion stood up. He hurriedly lowered all the shopping bags from Dan's back.
"But where are you going?"
"Somewhere. Don't worry about me. Tell Trish not to worry too. I'll be right back," Rion said, then immediately left Anwen alone with all her stuff.
"WHY DID YOU LEAVE?! HEY! AT LEAST BRING ME TO THE MAIN ROAD!" Anwen shouted as Rion quickly disappeared.
The sky above was already filled with reddish-yellow colors, like the color of burnt molten iron. Rion, who had been riding Dan for a while, finally arrived at the Lilium Residence.
He dismounted his horse, then took a wide stride towards the building where Odette lived. At her door, Ronan suddenly hesitated to knock. However, after he thought for a few seconds, he finally decided to knock.
He knocked repeatedly, but there was no answer. The girl must be so angry, that she didn't want to open the door for him.
"Odette, open the door and come out, we have to talk," he knocked again. He was a little surprised that the door opened by itself. The door wasn't locked.
"Odette." From the doorway, he looked around the room. It was very quiet in there.
"Odette, are you in there?" He stepped in slowly. Rion called Odette's name every now and then in a voice that sounded hesitant. There was no response.
He finally checked every room, every part of the house, but Odette's figure was nowhere to be found. Now, he was in the kitchen. Rion found the leftovers of yesterday's soup that he made for Odette. it was very stale.
He remembered Odette and Anwen's conversation yesterday morning. It was about Odette wanting to find a new job, then about Odette coming to the palace and joining the medical team to help injured people.
Odette was in the palace until evening. The girl accompanied him to visit Lucas' grave, then they went to Baster's Inn before it finally happened. Then after that, Odette left him.
Rion thought Odette left and went back to the Lilium Residence, but after he saw the stale soup, it seemed that Odette wasn't home.
So, where did Odette go?
Rion suddenly felt very worried. He quickly walked out of the house. He looked around and came to a woman who was playing with her daughter.
"Excuse me, I wanted to ask about the girl who lives there. Do you know where she went, or have you seen her all day?" Rion asked.
"Ah, you mean Miss Odette?"
Rion nodded slowly.
"I haven't seen her all day. Actually, I just came back from my relative's house around the corner. So, I don't know, sorry."
"It's okay, thank you."
Rion's heart was restless, he was getting anxious. In his mind, he kept wondering where Odette had gone. Was she okay? Was she in trouble? She wasn't in any danger and trapped among the bandits like back then, was she?
He got on Dan, then hurried off to find Odette by following the road from Lilium Residence to Baster Inn.
