Chapter 25 August 2018 Mother Nature must have taken mercy on me. Perhaps I was now a favored son since she’d almost taken my life. Or maybe some other higher power was supporting me on this day. Or…maybe I was just lucky. Whatever the cause, I was grateful for the gorgeous weather as I stood atop the roof that held so many dark memories. Every time my mind would start to drift to Justin’s sightless eyes or my shivering limbs, the sun would burst from behind the clouds, beaming warmth and life into my skin. A cool breeze breathed energy into my spirit whenever I would stall in my preparations. I gripped the broom I was using to sweep the unkempt rooftop and took a deep breath.
