I was in my room after that s**t down there. I sat down on my bed and started using my phone. What can I even do? I am a coward, right?
I heard knocking on the door. I was too confused- who’d knock? Dad would never, Aly is not here, and mom… she never comes.
I opened the door and saw mom was there. For the first time.
“Mom?” I questioned and she hugged me.
“You showed so much bravery down, so I thought I’d show some”
I smiled at her words. “But… you didn’t need to, mom. If he saw you here…”
“I don’t care either, son” she smiled. “I am so glad to see how brave you are!”
“I am not brave, mom…” I felt like crying. “I thought that maybe I’d grab attention to save Alicia, but I couldn’t…”
