Kat's life has been interesting to say the least. Bottom of the food chain at school, daily bruises that heal over by the next day only to be replaced by new ones. She is in her final year of high school and she is very ready to be done, with this school and this pack. She wanted to go home, hom to her old pack the Silver Moon pack and away from the Blood Moon pack. She is a transferee from the Silver Moon pack as part of their alliance. But she wants to go home. She is not allowed contact with her old family, so as far as she knows, they could be dead. But her whole world is about to be flipped when the young Alpha of the Blood Moon arrives to her school for his last year of high school and she turns out to be his mate. She doesn't want him, but he won't let her go.

My breath caught as I tried to stand up. I stumbled forward and put a bloody hand on the wall for stability, but the injures I have are extensive and I didn't think I'd make it to the nurses. I heard some footsteps behind me. Well, great, they're back for more.

"Kat?!" I heard a familiar voice, it's Jace, from football. I heard running footsteps and I started to fall.

"Kat, I'm going to pick you up and take you to the nurse." He told me. I tried to brush him off, but he wouldn't allow it. I heard more footsteps follow up and he was talking with them. Their voices eventually drowned out and my world went dark.

Chapter 1
I woke up as my alarm screamed at me to get out of bed. It’s currently 5AM and I needed to run and get ready for school. It is the start of a new school year, and it is my final year. I got up and went to my dresser and pulled out a sleeveless shirt and some basketball shorts. I got dressed, went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair. I then pulled my hair back in a ponytail and braided it. I opened the door to my room quietly and walked down the stairs. I live in a dorm-like building called the packhouse for the transferees. I was traded from my pack, the Silver Moon pack where I was born and raised to the age of twelve, to the Blood Moon pack. The transfers were offered every twenty years to help keep the alliances between the two packs strong. The higher the transferee was ranked in the system, the better the alliance was kept. My room was on sixth floor of the building. After a transferee was mated to someone, or they became twenty-one, they could move out.                After arriving outside, I walked over to the woods to the right and walked to the entrance to a trail. The trail looped around and was about four miles. I started my run at a steady pace. I followed the trail like I did every day, looping around, jumping over fallen trees, and climbing the short cliffs. It was always a good morning workout. I returned to the packhouse at about 5:45AM and returned to my room. I stripped out of the shorts and shirt and tossed them into the laundry. I grabbed some new clothes, a dark-blue t-shirt, some boot-cut blue jeans, a black hoodie, some undergarments and I walked into the bathroom. I showered, brushed my teeth again, redid my hair, only this time wrapping the braid into a bun around the ponytail and got dressed. I wasn’t into makeup and therefore didn’t put any on. By the time was done, it was 6:15AM and the others were beginning to stir. Smelled breakfast cooking and I knew it was time to head down. I grabbed my backpack and put my school supplies and notebooks inside and proceeded down the stairs and into the dining hall. There were about two dozen wolves already in the dining hall eating. Some were wilding doing homework that was due today because they forgot about it while the rest were chatting the morning away and eating. I grabbed a tray and hopped in line to grab some food. There was bacon, eggs, pancakes, juice, milk, and just about any other breakfast item you desired. It seems like a lot of food, but it won’t go to waste. There are too many of us for that and we tend to have large appetites.                I filled my tray up with some eggs, bacon, and pancakes while grabbing some orange juice. I headed to the table in the back corner where no on likes to sit, mainly because I am there and they don’t like me, but quite frankly I don’t really care, at least the people here leave me alone. It is a different story at school though.                After I finished eating it was time to head out. The bus from the packhouse would take us to the school building while making a few stops along the way, so it always took a little while to get there, hence why we leave at about 6:45AM though we don’t have to be in class until an hour after that, and they don’t start until 7:55AM. I grabbed my backpack and went to the front with the other high school students. We lined up and got on the bus. I managed to get on early today, so I picked an empty seat and I put my backpack between my feet. I always found it funny that huge busses transporting a bunch of children never had seat belts, but it was against the law to not wear one. I found my phone and headphones in the front pocket of my backpack and flipped on some music. Favorite band so far would have to be All Good Things. The bus doors closed, and we headed off on our mission to gather other transferees and wolves.                After arriving at school, we were told to remain seated on the bus so they could handout schedules to everyone. They called by name and the students would walk to the front of the bus to grab their paper and walked back to sit down. This process took a little while and we finished about 8 AM and we were sent in directly to our first classes. My first class was Physics, something that I actually like. I followed a group of teenagers who seemed to be heading in the same direction as I was. When I arrived, I noticed that the class was full of tables to seat two people rather than individual desks. I decided to sit at the back of the classroom near the window. People trickled into the classroom and found places to sit while avoiding the seat next to me. I was used to this as I’ve been here for five years now. They bully and pick on me, but I only had one year left, then I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. It seemed like the classroom filled up and the last of the students came in. All the seats were full except for the one to my right. A woman entered the room and stood at the front behind a desk piled with identical books. She was a fair lady with shortly cut blond hair and bright grey eyes behind her glasses.                “Hello class! My name is Ms. Celina, and I’ll be your Physics teacher.” She said, “Now I’ll be handing out your books and talking a little about what I expect in this classroom.” She grabbed a pile and started handing them out to the students and kept talking. “In my classroom, there will be no bullying your peers, you will need to talk notes as we go through the slideshows and lectures, and you will respect me and your fellow students. Anything rivalry outside this class, stays outside this class. Am I understood?” She looked around at all the students.                “Yes, Ms. Celina.” We all responded.                “Great! Now let’s open the books to chapter one and start learning!” She cheerfully replied.                The next bell rang at 9:10 and we were sent off to our next classes. My next one was trigonometry. My first stop was my locker where I put my book and notes away for now. I’ll pick them up at the end of the day. I made my way to my next class and filed in with everyone else. The desks already had books placed on them waiting for the occupants to take them. There was a seat open in the back next to the window, similar to my placement in Physics so I took the seat and waited for class to begin.                A man entered the room with fiery-red hair and hazel eyes. He stood in front of the whiteboard and introduced himself.                “My name is Mr. Dunn, and I am your trig teacher.” He said. The rest of class when off without a hitch and the bell rang at 10:25 and we were sent off again to our next classes. I stopped at my locker again to drop off my book and notes. Today is going pretty well. I’ve made it through two class periods without being bullied yet, but I knew it wouldn’t last too long. It was the first day, something was bound to happen. I could feel it.                My next class was English and the teacher was Mrs. Pansy. She was beautiful, she had long golden-blond hair and bright green eyes to accompany it. She was bright-eyed and cheery. The class went on and the bell rang so I went to my locker. My next destination was foreign language, we were going to be learning a random language, so I wasn’t sure which one it was. I started on my way over to the classroom, it was a long away from English and I needed to hurry.                I turned a corridor and got about halfway down in when I was grabbed and pulled into a very dark room. I couldn’t see what was going on and before my eyes adjusted, a very hard something came into contact with my face. I heard laughter around the room as I staggered backwards. Someone grabbed my from behind and I started to fight them off, but there were too many. My heart rate increased as I attempted to fight my way out but was unable to. I was dragged to the floor and I was being kicked and punched. The pain was becoming more and more, but I refused to cry out as I tried to fight back. I, however, eventually blacked out.                I awoke in the empty room. Pain erupted from my abdomen as I move, and I look around the room. I saw my backpack a couple feet from me, so I stood up and grabbed it. I started walking when pain shot up from my ankle into my hip. I wince and keep walking for the door. After glancing outside and seeing no students in the hall, I assume that everyone is in class right now. I head off to a bathroom to see the damage done and to see if I can fix it.                After arriving in the bathroom, I set my backpack down on the sink and I look into the mirror. I look terrible. I had lacerations on my face and bruises. I lifted my shirt and saw the bruising on my ribs. I must not have been out for too long since these are barely starting to heal. I pulled my phone out a glanced at the clock. It’s 11:50. I open my bag and grab a first aid kit and start cleaning some of the wounds. About ten minutes later the bell rings and the familiar cacophony of voices fill the halls. I sign, I have barely enough time, I’ll report to foreign language, grab my book and the assignment, then head to lunch.                I grab my backpack and put away the first aid, then head to foreign language. One look at me and the teacher didn’t question why I was late. He introduced himself as Mr. Byrne, he was going to teach us Gaelic. He handed me a book and pointed to the assignment on the board.                “Are you alright miss… I’m sorry I guess I didn’t catch your name.” Mr. Byrne asked with concern.                “Wildcat Connolly and yes, I’m fine, thank you Mr. Byrne.” I turned and looked at him bringing an indifferent look to my face.                “Alright, well off to lunch you go then.” He replied, concern still in his eyes.                “Yes sir.”                At lunch there was a pretty long line, I stepped in and waited to go through. The day was half-way over, thank goodness. I got my lunch which had some fries, something to pass as chicken, potatoes, and milk. Not exactly your favorite, but it’s food. I exited the lunch line and looked around for a place to sit. I noticed a table in the back that was void of teens. I decided I would sit there, away from everyone. A few people ended up at my table, but none of them sat close to me. I had brought a book with me to read at lunch while I ate to distract from the people around me. However, not all of them are the easiest to drown out. As I am reading, I overhear a group from a table behind me talking about how the young Alpha was going to be joining our school for his last year.                “The ALPHA’s son?!” one of the girls squealed. “OUR SCHOOL?! Oh this is a dream come true. I heard he is really handsome and that he is still search for his mate despite turning eighteen already.”                “No way, I figured he would have her by now.” One of the guys said.                “Well either way he supposed to be in school tomorrow. He is also bringing those who will be his Beta, Delta, and Warrior. So this should get interesting.” Aa different boy’s voice popped up.                Well, hopefully they just don’t notice me, and I can get on with my life. Last think I need is an Alpha picking on me too. That would open me up for the whole school. Currently my only problem are the ones who are at the top. The transferees just leave me alone, but they don’t stop anyone either and why should they? It’s not their fight.                The rest of the day went by without further incident. I have study hall after lunch with Ms. Cindy, Biology II with Mrs. Edith, History with Mr. Allen, and humanities with Mrs. Crabtree. I exited my last class and departed to my locker where I gathered the remaining part of my homework and books. I place them in my backpack. Now it is time for us to head to the fields. Each year they prepped a gym bag for us with shoes, clothes, towels, and water bottles. It’s about a half human and half werewolf school. The humans being oblivious to the fact that they go to school with wolves. Today, everyone went to start sports if you want. You are forced to attend the orientation and you must try out for at least one sport. Doesn’t matter if you try hard, a coach just has to sign off on it.                I followed the crowd of girls heading to the locker rooms. We were also assigned a locker number and combination. I walked into the locker room, most the girls just ignored me while some glared. I don’t really care. I start scanning the lockers for my number and after looking for a couple minutes, finally find it. I unlock it and grab the clothes out to change. There are sectioned off shower areas and I decided to place my backpack into the locker, grab the change of clothes and go to change there. Though most of the girls hate me in this locker room, none here acted upon it. The ones who so are in the secondary locker room put aside for the higher ranking teens, or those who are children of Alphas, Betas, etc. These tryouts for sports would continue throughout the first week incase someone missed the first day.                After changing I put my clothes back in the locker. I am now wearing an outfit much like my running outfit, sleeveless shirt and basketball shorts, but these have the school’s name, Creston High, printed on it. There are also deodorant and other hygiene essentials in the lockers. I used the deodorant and started heading out to the field, which was just behind the school. We are allowed to sign up for any try-out that we wanted, so naturally I’ll sign up for football. If I didn’t make it, no heart break.                I walk over to the signup booth and step in line.                “Hello! What would you like to sign up for?” I’m greeted by a man with brown hair and dark eyes.                “Football.” I replied simply.                “Uh,” Confusion crossed the man’s face and he looked over at the lady next to him who overheard my response, “football?”                “Sweetie, are you sure? Those boys are pretty big. Maybe you would like something like volleyball or golf.” She tried to persuade me                “Actually, yes I am sure, but thank you.” I looked at the guy in front of me.                “Um, okay. Sign your name here…and here.” He presented me with two pieces of paper. “You’ll need to head over to that booth with this paper,” which he presented to me, “and ask for your equipment.”                “Thank you.” I took the paper and walked over towards the booth. When I got there and presented them with the paper they exchange questionable looks with each other when I came for the equipment, but gave it to me without saying anything.                I went back to the locker rooms to change into the gear. Some of it was a little confusing, but I figured it out. I head the loudspeaker announcing the tryouts for the football team were beginning in a few minutes. I finished up quickly and walked out to the field. The looks I got were golden. Some were pure shock and others didn’t seem to know what to think as I walked out for tryouts. The coach certainly didn’t know what to think. He couldn’t say I was in the wrong area because I was wearing the equipment. We all gathered on the field.                “Go ahead and sit on the grass in a semi-circle.” The coach announced and we did as he said, “For those of you who don’t know, I’m coach Kelly, and I’m here to see who makes the team.” He eyed me. “You will do your best at these try-outs or you will not be worthy of joining the team. You will treat these try-outs like practices. My job as coach is to push you to your limit and then push you some more. These will continue throughout the week.” He started to turn away, “Oh, another thing, keep the equipment until the end of the week, then you don’t have to sign it out each time. I’ll inform the booth on who has what. Now get up and let’s warm up. Your first task: some simple warm up. You’ll follow Danny in these movements.”                Danny walked to the front and started some simple stretching and warm up maneuvers. I watched what he was doing and copied it, most of the others knew what they were doing and didn’t have to. Scattered chatter picked up around the group.                “Hey, you.” Someone said. “Yo, girl.”                I glanced around to a boy who sat next to me, “Sorry, I didn’t know you were talking to me.”                He chuckled lightly, “It’s alright. My name is Jace, what’s yours?”                “Kat.” I responded still observing what Danny was doing. I saw a hand appear in my peripherals and I looked back at him. He was offering his hand. I shook it and looked at Jace. He had blond hair and honey colored eyes to match. His face was squared off. He was well-built.                “So, uh, Kat, why’s you try out for football?” He curiously asked.                “Less complicated than the female sports.” I replied                “Less complicated?” He scoffed, “Have you ever watched football? It takes planning and teamwork.”                “That’s not what I mean by less complicated, but okay.”                “Then, what do you mean?” He looked confused.                I opened my mouth the explain, but then decided against it, “Never mind.”                The warmup was over and the coach walked back over to us after talking to the assistant coach, “Now run around back and forth until you hear the whistle.”                                 Everyone stood up, some looked like they were still processing the fact that a girl was trying-out for the team. We started running. I’m not sure how long we have been running, but I was beginning to struggle a little bit. My four miles in the morning was catching up to me, but I kept pushing not wanting to back down from the challenge I had put before myself. I don’t care if I make it or not, but I will not drop out. I’m still hurting from the beating I got today, but not as bad as I thought.                A familiar voice caught up to me, “Kat.”                I glanced to the side to see Jace running beside me, “Yeah?”                “Are you doing alright?” He asked through a few huffs.                “Yeah. You?” I replied as we reached the end of the field and turned around.                “Oh yeah, always.” He grinned at me. We continued running for a little while long when a whistle blew bringing us a halt.                “Now drop down and do thirty pushups.”  Coach Kelly said.                We all dropped, and you can immediately observe the different between the human boys and the werewolves. I finished about the same time as the other wolves, wincing a little with my ribs, and the rest finished within about thirty seconds. We continued to do workouts for about another thirty minutes. The next thing we started doing was working on positional runs.                “Alright, next thing I want you to do is pair up,” Coach Kelly started. I groaned inwardly because I hate having to wait for someone to get stuck with me in a group project. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Jace.                “What, do you not have friends?” I asked with a slightly joking tone.                “They’ll live, and there is an odd number of us here, so I offered to pair up with someone else.” He grinned at me.                “What a gentleman.” I replied sarcastically.                “Now grab a football and start at the ten-yard line and throw it back and forth with your partner. If you don’t know how to throw one, ask you partner or me. After you get ten successful throws, back up to the fifteen-yard line, and so on. Keep going until I say otherwise.”                Jace grabbed a football and I followed him to the front of the field.                “Do you know how to throw one?” He looked at me.                “I think so.” I replied curiously looking at the ball.                “Show me.” He said backing up to the ten-yard line                I took the ball and placed my fingers along the laces, spacing them out a little bit. I picked my right arm up and pulled it back using my left to help balance and aim. I released the football and he caught it perfectly.                “Impressive.” He replied and tossed it back. My catch was, well, less impressive. He laughed. After a few more attempts I managed to get the hang of it, and he went back to the fifteen-yard line. We were doing better than about half the players, so I didn’t feel as bad.                Coach blew the whistle again and had us do a few more drills. We didn’t finish up until about 8PM. I walked back to the lockers with the herd of boys and I spilt off into the girl’s locker room. I’m exhausted. I started stripping my equipment and putting back on some normal clothes when a thought hit me. How am I supposed to get home?     Jace’s POV We entered the locker room exhausted.                “That chick wasn’t bad.” Colton pipped up.                “No, she wasn’t, but do we really want a girl playing on our team?” Jess replied.                “Hey man, I don’t care as long as she can hold her own.” Eric threw into the conversation. There were some scattered agreements.                “Wait, we don’t know her name.” Colton realized with slightly wide eyes.                “Eh, who cares? She’ll either drop out or not make the team.” Thom said                “Her name is Kat.” I said indifferently.                “Oh yeah, you should know. You ditched me to toss with her.” Eric winked at me.                “Well someone had to.” I shrugged, too tired to get into it with him. I went back to thinking about her. She has dark brown hair, but I’m not sure of its length because of the way she had it up. Her eyes are a deep silver-grey and she is partly tanned. She wasn’t the prettiest girl I’ve seen, but she wasn’t ugly. One thing was a little off, she looked like she was in pain. Maybe it was my imagination, but I thought I saw her wincing while doing pushups. I shake my head dismissing more thoughts. I looked around and noticed everyone was changed already. I quickly finished up and walked out to the bus with them.   Kat’s POV                After I finished changing, I left the locker rooms and saw a pack bus sitting in the parking lot next to a but to take the human boys back to the other side of town. The only issue being that the pack bus wasn’t for transferees. Jace and the other boys exited the locker room and I noticed they were heading to the bus.                Jace looked in my direction and noticed I wasn’t moving towards the bus, “Are you coming?” He looked a little confused. Despite the fact he was about fifty feet way, I could hear him clearly.                “That bus isn’t for transferees.” I replied.                He glanced at the side then back at me, “Well you aren’t getting back any other way, so they’ll have to suck it up.” He gave me a friendly smile.                I was still unsure about it. I’ve accidentally gotten mixed in with what wasn’t mine and they were very unhappy. That’s how I have some of my scars actually.                “I don’t know.” I trailed off thinking back to that time.                “Here come with me.” He started walking over and gently grasped my elbow leading me towards the bus. When we got there, the driver was checking ID’s to check who was who. I grabbed mine out of my bag and Jace handed his to her. She smiled a tired smile and let him on; he waited for me at the entrance. I handed her mine next.                Her tired smile faltered a little and she looked again, “This bus is for non-.” She trailed off and looked at me, “You know what, it doesn’t matter. It’s late, let’s get you home.”                I gave her a small smile and a thank you and climbed on.                I got back to the packhouse at about 9PM and I knew I missed dinner. However, house rules, if you don’t make it in time, too bad, you’ll have to eat tomorrow.  I swiped my keycard to gain access to the door and quietly opened it. No one was in sight, but you could seem some light under a few doors. I closed the door and started heading for the stairwell when I heard footsteps.                “Connolly!” An incredibly angry female voice popped up behind me, Warden Janna. I froze on the spot and turned to face her.                “Yes Warden?” I replied. I knew why she was angry. Curfew is 8PM on the dot. It is now 9PM.                “Explain to me in one sentence why you are late and if there are any excuses in there or mentions of boys you will be punished.” She glared at me.                “I tried out for football, and practice ran late.” I replied truthfully.                “Do you have a permit slip from your coach?” She was a little less angry.                “No ma’am.” I looked down to the floor.                She glared again, “Who is your coach?”                “Coach Kelly.”                She pulled looked at me, he eyes glazed over ever so slightly, she was linking him. Her eyes cleared up and she looked back at me.                “You may go, but you must not be late again without a slip.” She replied, turned on her heal and was gone.                I let out a sign of relief and hurried up the stairwell to my floor. I needed to do laundry, homework, then I needed to sleep. I got back to my room and changed into a pair of sweats and a large t-shirt. I put the rest of my laundry in the bin and carried it down the hall to the laundry room. Each floor was supplied their own laundry room, so no one was at mine. I dropped my laundry into the washer and set a timer on my phone. I went back to my room and started on my homework. There wasn’t a whole lot left, and it was pretty easy considering it was the first day, but it was still due tomorrow. The time went off on my phone sooner then expected, I walked down the hall and switch it to the dryer, repeating with the timer and homework until I brought my laundry back. All I have left is history, then I will sleep. It’s already 11:30 PM. My bruises should be healed by morning, as long as I get some rest and food. I finished my history at about midnight. I realized I needed a shower and groaned. I hopped in doing a quick scrub down because of practice, then brushed my teeth and crawled into bed drifting off to sleep.
