I can fight too

Chapter 8

"Hey Car, do you want to join us tonight for the movie thing?" Benz asks me we are walking to our history class.

It's Friday so I am going to give myself a break from all the reading and studying things. And to be honest, I wanted Benz to ask me for the movie night because, for the last few weeks, we could hardly spend time together because he had to practice football. After all, he got accepted into the school football team. To be blunt, his joining Evelyn's birthday was a blessing for him because it turns out Evelyn's boyfriend is the captain of the football team.

I actually didn't know that he wanted to be on the football team until lately. Seems like we had been keeping our own secrets despite our close friendship.

"you are spacing out again!"

"Sorry... Yeah, I would love that. So will Mia and Evelyn be there?" I question as I try my best to not show my distress. No offense but then, we hardly got any time to spend time together. Given that, he should get to know Mia, and since Evelyn and Mia are now besties(I don't know how but it's not surprising to know because Mia is such a social person that making friends is a piece of cake for her)

"I asked her but she said that she had a group assignment to do so she won't be there" He seems disappointed though.

"so I can tell that you want to ask her out" I point it out 

"how do you do it Car? Are you a witch or something?" he laughs 

"Nah... I just guess because we both know how much you like her and every time she is with us, all you do is look at her like a lovesick puppy. Oh not to mention how you get agitated when you see Mia talking to Alex. Your eyes show lots of fear when Mia laughs at other guy's jokes as well." 

Benz rubs his neck as he looks nervously wound the classroom to check if any one of our friends heard it or not.

"hmm... someone is really observant like always"

"I like observing. It's better than talking" I shrug as I try to shake it off nonchalantly but then, I am trying to learn and understand the actions, relations, and eyes because I know that if I am to be a lawyer, I need to have more than listening skills.

"well, I still wish you joined us for Evelyn's party. There were cute boys too" he smirks as he wiggles his eyes at me.

"you know that I am not interested in such kinds of stuff" I roll my eyes as I open my book to write down the dates.

"Or maybe, you haven't met the right guy" he chuckles as he pats me on my shoulder.

"stop it Benz or else you will regret this"

"good morning class" Mr. Thomas greets us as he enters the class.

It feels really good to finally be alone with Benz just like old times. Don't get me wrong though, it's just that I really think of him as a brother more than a best friend.

so far, everything is going so well. I mean. we had a lot of laughs as we shared our experiences and adventures we had over the past three weeks. He too thinks that Ryan is having identity issues as I narrated the story(well, excluding few details).

Talking of which, I haven't met Ryan for the past three days. I mean we did meet after that night in the library. We read together and learned a lot about each other at the same time. But sometimes, he would still bring out his arrogant B to live and I had to remind him about it. We even had lunch together once but Benz was not there because he and Mia wanted to fill up some form to get him into the school football team.

"back to earth Car. Seriously, you are spacing out a lot lately. What's the matter? Is everything okay?" he asks as he looks at me with concern written all over his face.

"well, everything is okay. I have really missed us. I mean, we couldn't hang out with all those... football stuff and I don't blame you for that but it feels good to spend time with you just like before" I blurt out as I try my best to no sound rude.

"I missed us too... I know I had been a terrible best friend lately and I realize that we hardly spend time together but I am going to make an effort Car. I will because your friendship means a lot to me" his eyes are pleading for me to forgive him. I am not really angry at him but I am upset with how things are going because I can sense that he will somehow put Mia first.

"that's okay... I got to study a lot because of this" I chirp as I try to sound funny.

"No doubt there... listen...."

before he could finish his sentence, we hear someone ringing the doorbell. I look at the clock in the wall and it shows 9:18 PM. 

"Who could that be" Benz, stand up as he shrug and heads towards the door.

"Hello, Benjamin dear" I hear that familiar sweet and comforting voice. But it seems like she is a little bit tipsy. oh well... Nothing is permanent.

seems like we have got company. Yay!!! (the sarcasm)
