Chapter 28 - Flower

966 Words
Fiona Tristen had a grip on me, refusing to let me go. Struggling I reached toward the male I needed to stay with. He was the key, he was going to be my map. “Let go… mmhh.” Continuing, I struggled harder reaching for the male. I needed more of the scent, I wanted it to make sure he had her. He had my Flower, and I would get her back. Leaning towards the male, Tristen’s grip only strengthened holding me to his hardening body, his muscles flexing and tightening behind me. “WANT!” A feral growl left Tristen as he refused to let go. However, the male I needed started acting weirder than he had a moment ago. “Lilly is here, I have to go.” Standing, the male left the room. Leaving only Adam, Tristen and I. Panic surfacing in my chest, my heart pumped violently as Tristen and Adam looked to each other. They were mind linking about me, but it did not matter, I needed that man. He said Lilly, he was going to get Flower now. “Tristen!” My scream echoed through the room. Adam voice sounding through my ears, “what is the worst thing that could happen? Just let her go.” Another growl ripping from Tristen he released me. Desperation, it was like that day all those years ago, the feeling of fear, of need. This could be my last chance to get some of my life back, my family. Tumbling out of Tristen’s arms I winced before I hit the floor expecting pain. The expected thud never came as Tristen’s hands once again reached out securing me on my feet. Moving forwards, I stumbled out the door and down the hallway following the man’s scent, I was getting closer and it was growing stronger. Though I could not sense them, I knew Adam and Tristen were only steps behind me. I needed to be fast, I had to get to her before they stopped me, I heard them earlier they did not know me. They did not trust me. I did not know what would happen, what they would or could do. Walking towards a door, I could still smell him, he went outside. Moving faster, I knew I had to rush, outside scents would dissipate faster. Pushing my way through the double doors I felt the burn in my arms and legs start. This body was struggling. Especially after last night and this morning, a small constant burn was also flaring between my legs. I did not know if it was pain or need to do it again, but I wanted to try it again. Right now though I needed to focus, pushing the images of Tristen looming above me out of my mind I kept moving. There he was, the man was standing still not ten metres from me. Following his gaze to the tree line I could feel my eyebrows pull together as my heart sank in my chest. She was not here. Falling to my knees I slumped to the floor as Tristen’s hand found my shoulder. “Flicka, what is going on?” I did not know what this feeling was, but my chest… it burned. It ached, I was in pain. Leaning into his body now crouched next to my own, I felt his arm wind around me. It was like when I left that night, the liquid now falling down my face were tears, the pain in my chest was my heart. My heart hurt. I was sad, I was heartbroken. Raising my eyes to take a final look at the male, he was gone. My eyes roaming the grass oval, I spotted him walking towards the trees. That’s when I saw her, sucking in a deep breath, her scent covered my tongue as a new emotion surged through me. Flicking my gaze between her and the man, I realised he would reach her first. Just like last time, I imagined my paws, me running, soaring towards her. She was mine, my Flower, my best friend, she was my family. I could feel the change and snapping of my bones, ignoring the pain, I willed the change to happen faster as Tristen’s arms tightened. I could hear his voice, I could hear Adam shouting, but I did not care, I had to reach her. Feeling the excitement run through Autumn and myself alike we ran, pulling out of Tristen’s hold. Zeroing in on Flower, I knew Tristen was shifting behind me. He would be too late, he could not stop me now. The man turning around, I could see a patch of fear in his eyes as he starting sprinting for Flower, yelling out to her. Flower froze, Lilly had not changed at all, she was still as timid, as ever. I could see her clearer the closer I got, her eyes were fixed on me. Leaping in the air at her, I took her to the floor with myself as gently as possible, unable to stop myself, my tongue flickered across her face. Still unmoving, I could feel Tristen rapidly approaching in his wolf form. What I did not sense in time was the other wolf which emerged from the forest. Its teeth sinking into my neck, I was ripped from my Flower as I caught air being throwing across the field.
