Alice POV
I've told Kayla the truth about everything. Aside from not knowing how I got into that house or that bed, I also lack answers.
I was afraid someone had taken advantage of me. But my clothes were undamaged, and I had no wounds or marks.
It was difficult to see Kayla kneeling on the floor and sobbing uncontrollably. I wanted to help her, to console her, but I couldn't. Nothing I say will make her forget her grief.
I was not sure what it was like to have a mate, but finding mine was one of my dreams. Her anguish was felt by me in some way. I was not sure how to explain it. I believed we had something in common.
Since I woke up I've been waiting for my wolf to show up. But she was not me. No matter what I did, I couldn´t find her.
I've tried countless times to recall the most recent events before waking up, but I couldn´t think of anything that could explain that.
My most recent memory was of visiting the Kingdom. My father's Beta, Lancaster, and some warriors accompanied me.
Alpha Vincent, my father, is the Alpha of the Black Orchid. I am his only child, the daughter of two pure alphas, which is unusual, especially since I am a she-wolf.
My mother died when I was six years old, during an attack while visiting her sister in a neighboring pack.
Beta Lancaster is the person closest to me, and he has always been a more present figure in my life than my father. My father was always busy, and to alleviate the guilt of not having time for me, he entrusted his father's duties to his Beta. Other times, he'd send Lancaster's mate, Francesca, or the Gamma couple, Leonor and Theodore. Father had always desired a son, but he was never blessed with one. For him, a woman is a necessary component for reproduction, accompanies her mate, and manages a household; he does not see in she wolves the ability to be a pack alpha.
He wanted me to be the ideal Luna. A Luna would simply be someone who helped the Alpha, and her responsibilities would be to manage the pack house, organize parties and ceremonies, and, of course, look after the pups. As a result, my father never let me explore other abilities than these functions.
However, the Beta, Lancaster, believed that all werewolves should be able to defend themselves, so I trained with him and his son Mika, who happens to be my best friend. My wolf, Alpha, has brown fur that is almost golden and is larger than average in size due to its purity. This has always been a benefit in training.
I evolved over time and, despite being trained to be Luna, I am now a strong warrior capable of killing.
My father was getting old and he needed to find my mate or chosen mate to replace him as Alpha, so he sent me to the King's territory for the ceremony. The King would hold a ceremony with all of the high ranks present, and I would have a good chance of meeting my fated mate there.
Lancaster clung to me like a father to his daughter, and we went to the palace. The Royal Beta Adam greeted us and escorted us to our quarters. I don't recall anything else after that.
Kayla is my Queen because I still believe that my pack is part of King Leon's kingdom. I refuse to accept a new King or Queen. I need to help her and protect her.
I felt a strong emotional attachment to her. I can't help but admire her and feel a strange connection to her. Even in her deepest despair, she is flawless.
I need to figure out how to get to my pack and persuade my father to let me help her. It will be a struggle; he doesn't want me in danger and recognizes me as capable of defending myself. I just hope everything is well in my pack... I signed with concern. I'm doing my best not to think about it. I don't want to get worked up and let Kayla perceive it. I need to be strong for us.
