Alice POV
"Kayla, we have to go. This hill leaves our position exposed, enemies can see us." I said, after doing a brief reconnaissance of the area.
"I guarantee that we will figure out what happened and that I will assist you." My determination was audible in my voice.
Kayla wiped her tear-stained cheeks and rose to her feet like a genuine queen. I could see the resolve in her eyes. Kayla reached out to me, I grasped her hand, and she helped me get up.
"Let's head to the river. It will be easier to conceal our scents and footprints. We eat the fruit we brought and devise a strategy." I propose getting the backpack and carrying it on my back.
"Sounds like a wonderful plan to me," Kayla remarked, a forced smile reaching her eyes.
When we arrived at the river, I looked for a good position with multiple escape routes, as Lancaster had always recommended in his training sessions.
I walked over to the stream, stripped down to my underwear, and washed all the crusted dirt and blood off my body. Then I washed the dress; however, I couldn't totally remove one of the blood stains.
Kayla followed suit. Because of the blood leaking out of our garments and bodies, the water surrounding us was somewhat red. I couldn't help but shudder at its sight.
I began to sense something in my head as if it were my wolf returning. It felt different than before like there was a barrier between us.
"I don't feel my wolf, but I start to sense an odd sensation as if she's returning. Something isn't right."
"I don't feel mine," Kayla said with a sigh.
"I hope our wolves return to us soon, or everything will be much more difficult," I can only hope. It will be quite hard to survive in this wilderness without them, given all of the terrible situations we are in.
"I can't leave without first ascertaining if there are any survivors, Alice. That is my responsibility as their queen, and my heart tells me to do it as well. I can't, however, make your stay with me. I can't ask anyone to join me right now as we don't even know what dangers await us, let alone who our adversaries will be." She said with a melancholy expression.
"Will you follow me to my pack if I aid you in your search for survivors? I'll have my pack support you. I am the Alpha's daughter. Alpha Vincent, from the Black Orchid Pack, is my father." I informed her.
"I can't promise I'll come to your pack, but I can promise I'll accompany you there. We have to check out every option carefully."
"Ok. I completely agree with you. Please, let us eat. My stomach churns, and we need to be stronger and healthier." My tummy aches... I realize fruit won't be enough to feed us, but it's better than nothing right now.
Kayla was extremely quiet when I gazed at her, but I heard a low growl. Her body began to tremble, and I could see a powerful battle between her and her wolf forms.
Kayla's wolf appeared for a brief while, her eyes shone, and some fur appeared on her arms and legs. Her wolf had returned to her consciousness! What wonderful news!
I was getting concerned because the fight was been going on for several minutes. My head also started to hurt, and I was not sure what to do to help her or myself.
Who are you? I could heard an unfamiliar voice in my head. It was not my wolf's voice. It was another wolf's voice and I started to panic.
Please tell me, who are you? She begged me, with a strong aura engulfing my consciousness.
I admite that I was terrified right there and didn´t know what to do. I resolved to respond because I felt I had no other choice. I was scared but yet intrigued.
Alice. You? I asked her with curiosity running wild in my veins.
I'm Thea. Can you please tell me how I am with you? She asked me in a hard voice.
Are you with me? How can someone else's wolf be present in my mind? My skepticism made me wonder if what I was hearing was correct or if I was insane.
Yes, I'm your wolf... I mean, I was someone else's wolf, but now I'm bonded to you. I'm trying to maintain control. I need answers. She almost commanded me. I could feel her strong domineering aura pressing into my mind.
What? My wolf is Mia. Where is she? I need answers too. This is getting weird, like a scene from a bad movie.
It's just you and me here. There's no Mia. I'm your new wolf, but I'm not really your wolf...Where is my human form? Did you do something to her? My head was giving me pain and I was confused as hell.
I did not do anything to anyone. What is your human form called?
Kayla. the Alpha Queen of werewolves. She answered. I look at Kayla, who is still fighting her wolf. Wait! What? Her wolf? If I had her wolf maybe... maybe... she had Mia. My thoughts were running wild in my mind. How... H.O.W. Could this be possible?
Oh, f**k! Oh, f**k! So, who is the wolf that is fighting Kayla? I asked, wishing for a clear answer.
Is Kayla in jeopardy? You must help her! I'm frail, but I'll do my best to shift, to assist you. She pleaded with me and I can tell she was terrified and bewildered as well. If she had that power, I could only imagine how powerful she was at her peak. I thought that I should try to contact Mia, if she recognized me or my voice, she might be able to put an end to her fight.
Wait, let me try something. I asked her before trying the plan I had.
"Stop, Mia! Don't blame her; I'm here! She did not harm me in any way!" I screamed loud enough that Mia could hear me.
The dominance struggle between Kayla and her wolf, or rather, my wolf, came to an end at that point. I signed with relief.
"Alice, I'm bonded to another wolf!" Kayla yelled in shock. She was panting. I could see how tired she was. Mia was a wild beast, I pitied Kayla at that moment.
"Oh, we're screwed, our wolves are switched! You have Mia. I have yours!" I yelled in recognition.
