The Lumen Princess

Chapter 10

I woke up at 6am. I really had a hard time sleeping because of thinking so much. I've been thinking about Jil if she's alright. If she's safe and if she's still...alive.

I also can't help but think on how can I defeat those damn dark wizards. And I've been thinking about Kyle damn it! Just why the hell am I affected by him?

I got up and headed straight to the bathroom to wash up before going out of my room.

Now that it's already morning and the light is coming through those window, I notice how dirty this mansion is. I didn't notice when we arrive last night because it was already dark and I wasn't in the mood to appreciate my surrounding.

I headed to their garden in hopes of breathing some fresh air but what do I expect?

"Damn it," I hissed as I look at the dead flowers on the garden. The ground is so dry that even a wild grass can't survive.

I sigh and sat down on the swing I saw near a dead tree. I push it using my feet and close my eyes.

I wonder what's waiting for me in the other world.

9:26am. We're all inside this one room in that creepy mansion. We're all standing in front of a full length mirror.

"Ahm, I thought we're going to the Magus World? Why are we all inside this room and standing in front of a full length mirror?" I can't help but ask them.

“We are princess. That's why we are here,” Shone said.

Eh? Just how the hell can we get if were all here inside this crappy room?

“Dataest mihisecundum operationem quamundimagicis...ostiumaperirequaero!”

My eyes widen when the mirror suddenly  lights up.

“Lets go,” Jana said.

I was in shock when they walk inside that mirror!

Jana at Clyde were the first one to go inside, followed by Nikki at Jiro.

“Come one,” Shone said and Elyssed followed after glancing at us.

“Seriously? This is the way to the Magus World?” I ask Gallens.

“Yes,” he answered smiling before holding my hand. "Let's go!"

"Wait. Your dwarf friend, isn't he coming? I haven't seen him yet," I said.

"Zaire? He's already there since last night so he can tell the other lumen wizards that we're already coming back," he said and I just nod at him.

I hold on to his hand tighter and close my eyes as we go inside that mirror. I thought we still need to walk through something or what but nothing. It's like we just went through a door and we're already here. The Magus World.

I look aroung and frown.

"This is it? The Magus World?" I ask Gallens who is beside me and still holding my hand so I let go quickly and glared at him.

“Honestly yes, this is it,” Nikki said.

"I thought it is Magus, meaning magical right? Then why..."

I was really expecting to see something magical. Beautiful surrounding with a lot of floweres and some fairies flying around them. But, I was wrong. It was just the same as the garden from that mansion. The ground is so dry. All the plants, flowers and trees and dead. The sky is so dark which looks like a storm is coming at any moment.

"My master once said that this world used to be so beautiful. The plants and trees are so alive. But that was before the dark wizards reign strated," Shone told us.

So this was the effect of the dark wizards? Are they that powerful to totally change this world?

We started walkinh with Shone leading us while I was at the back with Jana and Elysse.

I don't know how long have we been walking but we went inside this dark scary forest.

"You can holf my arm if you're scared," Kyle teased me and smirked.

"You wish," I hissed and glare at him. I walk closer to Jana and Elysse and grab them both so they gave me a questioning look.

"I don't want to be left out," I reasoned out to them but really, this place is scary.

“Master! Princess!” I heard a small voice call us.

And there I saw the dwarf, Zairen, waiving his small hands at us. He's riding a big cart and I instantly stop walking and stare at the cart in horror when I saw what's in front of it.

"Is there something wrong?" Jana asked. Both Jana and Elysse also stop walking since I was holding their arm.

"Wh-what," I stuttered so I gulp a few times before asking them again. "What kind of creature is that?"

Jana look at the cart again.

"Zairen? You already met him back in the mortal world right? He is a garden gnome," Jana said.

"No. I wasn't talking about the dwarf," I said and pointed at the creature in front of the cart. "I was talking about that creature who is pulling the cart."

Jana look at the cart again and frown.

Can't she see that creature?

"That's a magic cart, Shanel. There's no creature pulling that cart. Just whisper the place that you wanted to go with that cart and it will instantly take you there," Jana said.

"What?" I look at Jana with disbelief.

I look at Elysse who is just silently looking at me.

"You can't see it?" I asked Jana. "You, too?" I also asked at Elysse.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Jana said.

I look at the guys in front of us who are now talking with Zairen. They also can't see it, do they?

"That creature is called thestrals."

I look at Kyle who is already beside us. Jana also look at him as if she can't understand what he is saying.

"So you can see them?" I ask him.

"Only those who've seen death can see those thestrals.  Since you saw with your very own eyes the death of your fosters parents, the thestrals show their true form to you," he explained then look at me with a smile. "You don't have to be afraid of them."

"I heard about them before," Elysse said. "I didn't know they really exist."

We rode the cart and the thestral started pulling.

"Isn't going to fast?" I ask them but no answered me. It suddenly made a sharp turn that I lost my balance but since Kyle is right beside me, he quickly hold me so I won't fall.

I look at him and I saw the worry in his eyes.

"Are you okay?" he asked but I quickly push him and look the other way when I felt awkwardness with his stares.

"She's about to melt," I heard Jiro say who is right in front of me so I turned again and saw Kyle looking at me.

"What?" I asked him but instead of answering, he just look away,

"Finally! We're home!" Nikki and Jiro happily exclaimed when we arrived into a palace. This place also looked different. The plants look so alive and they are so beautiful.

"It's beautiful," I said as we enter the palace.

"Terrae Kingdom is the only kingdom who remained independent and free from the dark wizards.That's why most of the Lumen Wizards who survived the first war are here," Nikki said. "Welcome to our kingdom," Nikki exclaimed.

"Welcome back to Terrae Kingdom, your highness," an old man welcomed us.

"Master," Shone called and bow at him. So is this the master he's talking about?

“Dad."

I was startled and look at Kyle who is now hugging the old man he called Dad and Shone called Master. 

"Wait," I called Shone. "So your master is Gallens' father?" I whispered to him and he just nod at him

“Master this is Princess Shana Angelica Glacies, the Lumen Princess. Shanel This is Master Jed. Kyle's father and he is also the one who took care of me. The Lumen Queen, our mother, entrusted me to him," Shone introduces us.

I was just Shana Angelica Levin before but now it's Princess Shana Angelica Glacies.

"We are happy to see you, Princess. You're now back with us and I'm sure the other lumen wizards will be delighted to see you," Master Jed said and  just smiled at him because I really don't know how to response.

He called Nikki and asked her to tour me around the palace.

"Master Jed is the oldest Lumen Wizards here in the Magus World," Nikki started as we walk around the palace. "He is now acting as the leader of the lumen wizards because the dark wizards captured all the leaders of the kingdoms here in Magus World. It was also the reason why it was easy for them to take down every kingdom."

We stop in front of a big door. When Nikki opened it, it was a large room that has so many books. Some of the lumen wizards are there and everyone are holding a book.

"This is where we study and train different types of spells," Nikki informed me.

She pointed the corner section of the room where it was surrounded by frosted glass.

"That section may look small from here but it's a very wide space inside. That is where we practice in controlling the three different element. Air, fire and earth," she said.

After looking around for a while, we decided to leave that room and headed to our next stop.

"Terrae is the only kingdom who remained free from the dark wizards. How did you do that?" I asked.

"Although the Glacies Kingdom is the biggest kingdom out of the four kingdom in this world, Terrae security is the strongest. Passing the Great Gate of this kingdom is already  hard for them," she said.

"The Great Gate? I didn't saw a gate when we got here," I told her.

"Only the lumen wizards of the Terrae Kingdom and Master Jed knew the other way to get in here without passing the Great Gate. The dark wizards will also have a hard time to destroy that gate that's why they never really tried," she explained.

We went out of the palace and Nikki told me we are at the back side of the Kingdom. Some servants handed each of us a thick jacket before we went out and now I know why.

It was incredible how cold it was at this part of the kingdom.

"We called this the Water Zone," Nikki said.

I notice that the ground is actually made of ice when we step out.

"This is where your can master the element of water. This part of the Kingdom was build by the lumen wizards from Glacies Kingdom when the war ends and they started living here. It was dangerous for other lumen wizards to practice their elements with the water element so they made this place. Master Jed, Prince Shone and Kyle were the usual who comes here since most of the other wizards are learning martial arts. That's where they lack off."

We went back to the palace immediately as that place became colder.

Nikki showed me the other rooms and places in the kingdom until we decided to rest first at the palace's library.

"You said that this world is actually divided into four and the Glacies are the highest among all the leaders of this world," I asked her.

"Yes. The Glacies are considered the most powerful wizards in this world. No other had ever beat them yet. Well, until the war happened. But before, the King and Queen of the Glacies Kingdom were also considered the leaders of the Kings and Queens of the other three kingdoms."

"If they were that powerful, how come the dark wizards manage to defeat them?" I asked her.

"It's because of the traitor that your mother and father had always trusted," she said with a hint of anger in her voice. "If it wasn't for her, all of this wouldn't happened."

A moment of silent surround us before I ask her the question I've been meaning to ask.

"My parents...are they one of the dark wizards' prisoners?"

Nikki avoided my gaze and bow her head so I already know what's coming.

"I'm sorry Shanel but your parents are gone," she said before looking at me and continued. "According to Kyle's father, your father died while fighting against the dark wizards while your mother, the dark wizards took her right after she came back from the mortal world. Up until now, we don't know if she is still alive or she already became a dark wizard."

“A dark wizard?” I asked.

"Yes. The dark wizards have the ability to turn a lumen wizard. Most of their remaining prisoners were turned into dark wizards."

"Then Jil-"

"I actually don't know because your friend is a mortal. That's also the one thing that keeps bothering us."

"What is it?" I asked.

"Your friend is mortal but why did they take her?"

I didn't answer because I also don't know. They may have thought I was her or they maybe planning to use her against me.

"This would be your room," Nikki said and showed me my room. "Prince Shone told us that tomorrow will be the start of your training. You need to learn now how to use your power."

"Already?" I complained. "Then who will be my teacher?"

"Master Jed will teach you on how to use your powers. When it comes to your physical strength, Kyle will be the one to teach you."

What? No!

I wanted to complained but smiled when I realized I can finally fight that jerk.

"Whatever you're thinking against Kyle, stop it," Nikki warned me and laugh. "You're no match against Kyle. He is the strongest when it comes to physical strength."

I just rolled my eyes that made her laugh.

"Wait," I said when I remembered something. "From what kingdom did Elysse and Gallens came from?"

Terrae means Earth and this is where Nikki came from. A'ris is air which is here Jana and Jiro came from. Ignis is fire where Clyde came from. But Elysse and Gallens, they never told me about them.

"Elysse is also from here while Kyle is from Glacies Kingdom that's why he can also control the water element. But Master Jed never stayed in Glacies Kingdom because he has his own territory here Magus World. Only the Lumen King, Lumen Queen and Kyle knew where that is."

I just nod at her but wonder where could it be and what's in that place.

"You should rest now," Nikki said before leaving my room.
