The Lumen Princess

Chapter 3

I headed to our old house right after my work.

And as usual, the silence greeted me. This house used to be my home where my mother will welcome with a warm hug but now, it’s just an empty house.

I headed to the kitchen where last had our meal as a happy and complete family.

We were celebrating my 15th birthday then when my father started acting strange. I can’t understand his actions before but now, I think that he felt that someone is watching us back then. Right after our meal, we headed to the basement. At first I thought he will teach me something but then I was startled when he suddenly open a secret door that leads to a secret room.

He asked me to hide there and don’t make a sound. He even told me that whatever happens, I shouldn’t leave that room until some police will come. So from that room, I saw how my father fight for that person while protecting my mother. That person is holding two swords and from the way he use them, I can tell that he’s a master of those weapons.

A tear fell from my eyes as I remember that nightmare.

I headed to the basement where all the weapons that my father left are still there. I put down my bag and change my clothes.

I started punching and kicking the punching bag there. I did that non-stop that I still kept going even if I’m out of breath. I almost pass out when I stop and just lie down on the floor as my tears keeps on falling.

It’s been almost 5 years since that incident happened. Now my birthday is about to come but ever since that incident, I never celebrated my birthday again. It’s just a reminder of that nightmare for me.

“I will kill you. Whoever you are, I’ll make sure I’ll be the one to kill you just like how you kill my only family,” I promised to myself and stood up.

I was too tired but I still have the strength to go to our apartment. And when I got there, I headed to Jil’s room and her already fast sleep.

I smiled and headed to my own room.

Kyle is already sitting at his seat when I got inside our classroom. He’s actually looking at me as I walk towards but I chose to ignore him instead.

I look at Jillian when I got on my seat and saw her doodling something. I turned my gaze on Kyle who is now looking outside the window.

Our professor in Calculus came and I even heard Jillian growl for disapproval.

As much as I hated Chemistry, Jillian hated Calculus.

I volunteered in answering some problems on the board and when I get back to my seat, there’s already a letter on my desk. I looked at Jillian but she just pointed at Kyle.

What does he want this time?

Me: Why?

Kyle: You’ll know after. Just come with me.

Me: And if I don’t want to?

Kyle: You will.

Me: I don’t want to if you’re not telling me why.

Kyle: You will come with me whether you like it or not.

I glared at him and clutch the paper before throwing it on his face making him startled so he also glared at me.

This guy is really getting into my nerves.

I fix my things and put them on my bag before walking out of the classroom right after our class. Jillian even called me but I just told her that I’m in a hurry.

I turned to my right to go to the exit but suddenly someone grab my hands and pulled me on the other way.

“Let me go! I told you I don’t want to come with you!” I told Kyle as he drags me and tried to free myself from his grasp.

Damn it!

I kicked him from behind causing him to almost fall from the floor. When he found his balance, he turn to look at me but my fist just welcome him for a punch that has caught him off guard.

And then I run away from him. Leaving him behind.

Fuck it! I didn’t expect her to be this violent. I wipe the blood on the side of my lips and scoff when I felt the pain from there.

“What happened to you? Where is the girl?” Nikki asked me.

“She runaway.”

“See? I told you. You should just scare her or kidnap her,” Jiro said laughing while looking at the cut on my lips.

“Yeah right.”

“Tss. I’ll go to Jana and Elysse to try and persuade that girl,” Nikki said.

“Are you sure you’re taking Elysse with you?” Jiro asked with a frown on his face. “I mean, I’m sure you’ll be alright with Jana but with Elysse? That girl might just get scared and never show her face to us ever again.”

“Leave it to me. We’ll bring her to you,” Nikki said before leaving us.

“I doubt that,” Jiro whispered enough for me to hear.

“Ahm. Can we join you?” I look up and saw those 3 girls from Kyle’s group. I look around to see if there are any vacant seat at the canteen but there were too many students so all the tables were taken.

“Sure,” Jil answered and I just remain silence and focus on my food.

It’s a round table. Jillian move to seat beside me while Nikki is on my other side and Elysse is sitting between Jillian and Nikki.

“So, how long have you known each other?” Nikki asked as we eat.

“Almost 5 years, I think,” Jillian said and I just nod my head to confirm.

“So you must have really known each other so well.”

“You could say that. Shan was 15 when my parents took her from the foster home after her parents died.”

I stopped eating and look at Jillian as if telling her to stop.

“They died?” it was Jana who asked.

“Ahm. Ahh,” Jillian look at me as if trying to find what to say to divert the conversation to another topic.

“You know what Nikki, I really like you. You’re so beautiful!” Jillian said and Nikki just smiled at her then looked at Elysse and Jana.

“She’s adopted by Jillian Williams’ parents at the age of 15 when her parents died,” Nikki informed us when they got back.

“And?” I don’t see any relevance for that information.

“The prince and Shanel were the same age. Almost 5 years ago, when the prince is just 15, the door to this world opened. So dark wizards had a chance back then to go to this world and fine the lumen princess,” Clyde stated.

“So what we’re trying to say is that those dark wizard may probably the reason of Shanel’s parents death,” Nikki said.

I sigh.

“Yes it’s possible,” I said then gave them a folder. “But Shanel is not the only one who has the same age as the prince. Her bestfriend and Shanel were at the same age and the same birthday. I also find out that Jillian is also just an adopted child.”

“But Elysse can’t read Shanel’s mind! So there’s a higher possibility that Shanel is really the lumen princess,” Nikki argued.

“Now that you say that. I also can’t read Jillian’s mind earlier.”

We look at Elysse. “When she was telling us about her and Shanel, I tried peeking inside her mind to look for some information but I can’t even enter her mind.”

We remained silent for a while.

“The Lumen Princess is either one of them,” I said and look again at Jillian’s folder.

“Maybe but then how can we identify who is she? We already lost the whiz mirror that could help us find her,” Jiro asked.

Some dark spirits attacked us before and we lost that powerful mirror while fighting them. That mirror is like a map that could lead us to the lumen princess but we just lost it. Thus, making it harder for us to find her.

“There’s only one way” the prince said who just went out of his room.

He threw something on us which Jiro caught.

“This is the necklace that you’re always holding, right?” Jiro said.

“Yeah. My master gave that to me. He told me to give that to my sister when we find her. Only my sister can awake the power of that necklace. Only the rightful owner can use that power.”

“How can we find her with this?” I asked him.

“It will light up. When that necklace came near to my sister, it will light up.”

“So you’ve been hiding that necklace? It could have been easier for us to find her if you gave that a little bit earlier you know?” Nikki said.

“Because it’s dangerous. That necklace is too important. And what if those girl that you suspected as my sister were actually dark wizard? Then they will get a hold of a powerful family heirloom,” the prince said trying to make a point.

Jiro gave the necklace to me.

It actually look like an ordinary necklace as I look into it. It has a circle shape with a half moon in the middle of it.

“We just need to go near each one of them. But we need to do this when one of them is not around.”

“Kyle,” the prince called me so I went near him. “If one of them is really my sister, you need to take her to me immediately because it would be more dangerous for her when we confirm her identity.”

“I will.”
