The sound drifted into her mind, not quite registering.
Knock, knock, knock.
Again.
Ro turned her head on her pillow. The deep gentle feeling of being comfortably asleep came into her consciousness. Then it was gone.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Hello?" A man's voice from the other side of the door.
Her eyes opened. She glanced around the dimly lit room, not sure at first where she was. Then, as the fog of sleep lifted and she remembered that she was in her new room at the Hotel Diamante, the light knock and the man's voice came again.
