We leave for our trip to the fairy kingdom in two days. My babies are getting so big. I would never believe they’re only two weeks old with how big those boys are. My little porky munchkins. My baby girl is still tiny. Shawn can hold her in one of his big ass hands. I think the boys know I’m not mad at him anymore. They’ve stopped peeing and pooping all over him. He was beginning to be afraid to open their diapers. Olexa is still a daddy’s girl. He was the first person she smiled at, and she always holds Andrei’s finger when she drinks her milk. She doesn’t really like to breastfeed. I think it’s because of how small she is. My boobs are probably bigger than her head and she gets scared. I am glad I’m producing crazy amounts of milk. I’m glad the boys sleep through the night because I can get up and pump three to four times a night and store all of that milk. Same during their naps. I pump and store. I swear I make like a gallon of milk every time I pump.
“I don’t know how your boobs do that. It’s scary,” my mom says.
“Have you seen these big ass babies?” I say and Lucian begins to fuss. “Who I love and adore to the ends of the earth.” He smiles and quiets down. “They eat so much my body's working overtime. What am I going to do when I have seven babies at once?”
“Your boobs are going to be bigger than Shawn's giant head!” She laughs.
“Hey!” Shawn says from the doorway.
Our heads snap in his direction. My mom and I look at each other and burst out laughing.
“Why are her boobs being compared to my head?” He asks.
“They’re not. Yet anyway. Who knows how big those babies will get when she has seven babies with Alaric,” Mom says.
“Oh Gosh. I’m a little afraid,” I say.
“No need baby. If you don’t make enough milk we can always supplement with formula. My mom did that with me and I came out just fine. Big ass head and all,” he laughs. “So you still up for tonight?”
“Of course we’re still on for date night,” I say.
“Yay!” Mom says.
“Why are you so excited for my date night?” I ask.
“Because I get all of my grandbabies. Duh!” She bumps my forehead with her palm. “We’re building a fort in the theatre and we’re having a campout.”
“Doesn’t a campout involve being outdoors?” Shawn asks.
“Do you want your infants to be sleeping outside tonight?” Mom asks.
“I mean they are wolves,” Shawn says. I smack his arm.
“The theatre is fine. Thanks for watching the little ones mom. Try roping in the triplets to keep them out of trouble. I don’t want anyone pulling Drake away from Freya this close to her due date. I hate that we might miss the birth of our first grandchild,” I say hugging Shawn.
We hear a scream and then Drake’s voice.
“Moooooom!!!!!” He calls.
I don’t even hesitate. I sense him and teleport myself to him in an instant.
“The baby is coming but something is wrong. Freya is bleeding and the baby’s heart is beating really fast,” He says, panicking by his mate’s side.
“It’s going to be ok baby,” I tell him.
‘Shawn, Freya is in labor. She’s bleeding and I’m teleporting us to Salem.’ I mindlink him.
‘Ok. We’ll meet you there,’ Shawn links back.
“Everyone is going to meet us there. I’m going to teleport us to Salem,” I say to him. “Freya honey I need you to stay awake. When did your contractions start?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t feel any contractions. Just a horrible pain and a lot of blood. Please save my baby no matter what,” Freya says.
“You’re both going to be fine,” I tell her. “Drake pick her up. We need to move.”
Drake picks her up bridal style. I put my hands over his and teleported all three of us to the ritual room in Salem where I had all my babies.
‘Sukie! Freya is in labor and bleeding rapidly. I need supplies in the ritual room!’ I mindlink her. It really pays off being a female tribrid. I can link anyone in my realm.
‘Oh dear. We’ll be there in a moment.’ Sukie says.
With a flick of my wrist the pillows and blankets begin shifting to the center of the room where Freya will have her baby. I conjure a cradle and place it next to her. The Aunts come in and help make Freya comfortable.
“How’s the barrier holding up?” I ask.
“Perfectly. Nothing is getting through that barrier,” Jane says.
“Ahhhh. Midnight, it hurts!” Freya yells.
I take my place between her legs to see how far she’s dilated.
“Freya you’re almost fully dilated. I’m going to check the position of your baby,” I tell her.
I place both hands on her belly. I connect to her baby and see that the baby is in a breech position and the umbilical cord is wrapped around his neck. He’s too big to turn. It’s a boy. Drake wanted to wait until the birth to know the gender. I can’t let my baby lose his son.
“The baby is breech. We need a doctor,” I say to Sukie.
“We don’t have one right now. She went to help another coven out of state after you gave birth,” Alexandra says.
“I’ll get our pack doctor,” I say.
I teleport to the pack hospital.
“Don! I need you now!” I yell in the emergency area.
“Oh Alpha I thought you’d never ask,” Dr. Smith says coming over to me. He’s been flirting with me for years and it makes my mates crazy.
“Don’t start with me. Freya’s baby is breech, cord around the neck, and she’s losing blood. If you don’t come with me right now I’ll string you up outside the hospital by your intestines!” I growl in my Alpha tone.
“Yes Alpha. I’ll need surgical supplies,” he says.
I snap my fingers and a medical bag of supplies drops at his feet.
“Let’s go!” I growl. He picks up the bag and I put my hand on his shoulder teleporting us to Salem.
“I can’t operate on her in here. It’s not sterile. I have no operating table, no lights, no equipment,” he says.
I snap my fingers and Freya is on an operating table under bright lights surrounded by surgical equipment. Drake is next to her holding her hand. I chant and wave my hands in a circular motion to clean and sanitize the room. I snap my fingers and all the surgical equipment is laid out on trays just like an OR.
Shawn, Andrei, and our sons step through the portal.
“What happened?” Shawn asks.
“Wait,” I say.
I repeat the circular motion, chant, and snap my fingers and everyone is in scrubs and any hint of bacteria is removed from them. I love having magic.
“Shawn and Andrei you’ll have to stay back so Dr. Smith can work on Freya. Boys form the circle around Freya far back enough for him to work. The Aunts will be on the barrier for protection,” I say. “Doc if you don’t f*****g get to work on my baby I will kill you!”
Don snapped out of it and immediately started hooking her up to monitors and doing her epidural. Once everything was set up I stood across from Don to assist in any way since we didn’t bring a nurse.
“Ok Freya. We’re starting your c-section,” he says. “Drake, I need you to stay on that side of the drape.”
Don makes the first cut and it’s worse than we knew. Her uterus ruptured and she’s close to bleeding out.
“I need to get the baby out quickly and stop this bleeding,” he says.
“Do it! Save my baby,” Freya yells.
“Shh, calm down Frey. He’s going to get the baby out safely,” Drake says.
Don pulls the baby out but as he does I see it. The baby is blue which means he’s not getting any air.
‘Alpha I need to work on the baby if I’m going to save him. But if I don’t stop this bleeding Freya is going to die. Drake has to make a choice.’ he says.
‘Is the baby’s heart beating?’ I ask.
‘Yes, but it’s faint,’ he says.
‘Give him to me,’ I say. ‘I can heal him and you stop this bleeding.’
Dr. Smith hands the baby to me and I take him over to the exam table under the warming lights.
“Mom, why isn’t the baby crying?” Drake asks.
“It’s ok son. I’m going to heal him,” I tell him.
“Him? It’s a boy?” Drake asks.
“Drake…” Freya says going in and out of consciousness. “I love you…take care of our baby...tell him that I love him...so much…..”
