Chapter 16

He clearly noticed that the colors of the Sun’s rays were changing! They were changing from the average color to an almost magenta-like tone. He had never experienced something like this, actually he had never heard of anyone speaking about something like this!  “Grandma! The color of the Sun is changing! How can this be?”  “Don’t stop now Teo! We can talk about this after we finish the practice as a whole! Enjoy this moment and pay close attention to all details!”  The three of them continued with their breathing practice while watching the sunrise. During his time Mosi also felt some variations after he heard what Teo said. However he believed that he might have not noticed anything if Teo hadn’t mentioned it.  Teo on the other hand not only saw the sunlight changing color, he also started perceiving a certain brilliance whenever he closed his eyes to hold his breath. He didn’t think anything particular about it since he knew that when you look at light bulbs straight on and you close your eyes you’d then see something like this as well.   After they finished the exercise Teo wanted to talk about his experience. He immediately asked his grandma about what he experienced but she told him that even though they had finished the yoga practice directly related to the Sun they now needed to do the practice related to their balance and inner self.  “You see Teo, now that we finished Surya and the breathing exercise to balance the energies within our bodies this is the best moment to practice balance postures. You need to absorb and make your own that balance that you have just achieved. That is why before pausing to talk about it we’ll now start with the next part of our morning yoga practice.” The brothers understood halfway what their grandma was saying but since they had already decided to follow her instructions they simply chose to continue doing what she said.  Elisa started showing them postures and giving them names like the warrior, eagle, tree, mountain, and lord of the dance among others. They practiced 12 different postures. By the time they had finished Teo was panting and completely drained. Mosi was much better but he was sweating profusely nonetheless.  “So how do you feel kids?”  “Grandma I feel like I’m gonna die! Are we going to do this every morning from now on?” “Like you are gonna die? From such a light practice?” “A light practice?! My whole body is in pain!” Elisa laughed and turned to look at Mosi “Ando how do you feel?” “I feel tired and refreshed at the same time, it’s a very peculiar feeling. I feel like my muscles and body are hungry for more but at the same time I know that I’m spent. Even if I could continue I feel tired.” So the elder has a better physical condition. We’ll see if he is more talented in general than the younger one. It would be best if they complement each other so they can cover the other’s weaknesses. It’s unheard of that there’s someone who’s a genius in every aspect. So it’s only to be expected that if Mosi has been granted a fantastical physical condition he might not be as talented for magic. Maybe Teo will be the other way around?  “Well, let’s go inside then. It’s time to eat. I guess both of you are probably starving by now.”  “I can’t deny that I’m very very hungry. It’s been years since the last time I ate my first meal of the day so late.”  “I’m hungry too grandma! What are we going to eat?”  “I did tell you yesterday that we would start by eating fruit. Breakfast as you know it will only come after you eat and digest the fruit.”  The three of them proceeded to go inside the house after they picked the yoga mats and placed them away. Elisa picked up her bag and slinged across her shoulder again. Once inside the house the brothers were going to inside the kitchen but Elisa called them over.  “No need to go to the kitchen. The fruit is inside my bag after all. Let’s just sit at the table right away so we can start eating sooner. I can imagine how hungry you are after all.” The three of them sat at the table and Elisa started getting everything out of her bag. Plates, cutlery, and plastic containers filled to the brim with all kinds of assorted fruits. Some had fruit salad and some had only one kind of fruit.  “Help yourselves and dig in! Eating fruit as your first meal in the morning is the healthiest thing you could possibly do. Besides that it will help in your cultivation. Even if it’s only a tiny help, every little bit counts and adds up.”  “Eating fruit will help in our cultivation? Can something as simple as that help us grandma?” “Every little detail will help or obstruct your cultivation Teo. Your diet is a fundamental aspect of cultivating. That’s why you’ll have a very strict diet from now on.” “A very strict diet? What will we not be allowed to eat?” Mosi asked while helping himself to a mountain of fruit salad. “For starters, no more meat of any kind. You’ll also stop eating processed sugars. For now that’ll suffice in changes to your diet.”  “Well, that won’t be too different from what we usually eat. We only ate meat, chicken or fish every once in a while. And sugars it was only on special occasions like birthdays and the sort. I’m fine with those changes, and you Teo?” “If that’ll help with our cultivation I’m more than willing to do it! I’m willing to do anything if it will allow me to do magic!”  Elisa smiled sincerely when she heard what Teo said. “It will help, and you’ll be able to advance quicker. But remember that you need to commit to doing it religiously everyday without fail.”  “I’ll do it grandma! I’ve always dreamt about it. Besides in the novels and stories the main characters usually have it either to easy or really hard. So, training and changing my daily routine is to be expected as a minimum.”  “Well, you need to eat a lot of fruit every morning since this will be your first meal everyday from now on. Follow your brother’s example and help yourself to more. Eat up so that the natural sugars from the fruit activate your brain cells.” “What are we going to do after eating grandma?” Mosi asked after finishing his first bowl of fruit salad and helping himself to second serving.  “After you guys finish eating I’ll give you each a copy of book that you have to finish reading by the end of the week before we leave this house. You’ll then spend the rest of the morning reading while I leave to your work and Teo’s school to inform them that you two won’t be going back.”
