After Elisa came to she was ecstatic but at the same time she was terrified.
He is a gift from God. He truly is. Carmen my daughter... Did you name him like that to give us a clue or where you instructed to give him that name?
In the book on the floor, which had curiously fallen and stayed on the same page Elisa was reading. It could be read, if you knew the language it was written in of course, “Teo - Gift from God”. Just as Mosi’s name meant he was the firstborn Teo’s name meant he was God’s gift.
Elisa still couldn’t control her racing heart and her conflicting emotions. If he truly is God’s gift... What’s his purpose on Earth? Why would God interfere?
After thinking this far Elisa was forced to analyze all possible implications. This was something epic and it should be handled with utmost care.
She was certain then that everything that had happened in her daughter’s life had most likely been for this very reason. She couldn’t help but feel less guilty about not having forced her daughter to marry someone else. Although she couldn’t help feeling bad for all the years she had lost. It still wasn’t too late, she could start sharing with her and her sons from now on.
Elisa had arrived at a conclusion. Something of catastrophic proportions must be on its way to Earth and this pair of brothers especially Teo are surely the key to its solution. Their upbringing was of utmost importance. Now that she knew this far she was infuriated that her daughter had left them alone.
Elisa had already witnessed Mosi’s potential but she had also witnessed his complete ignorance in regards to energy and magic. If she knew that he knew even less than she imagined she would have despaired with no doubt.
At this moment, and just in time, she remembered she was cooking dinner and managed to rescue the food from getting burned. She was normally an exceptional cook but all these surprises had left her confused and she almost ruined the meal.
She went back to cooking with a resolute face that spelled that she would take matters into her own hands no matter what her daughter or her husband said.
Mosi and Teo kept talking all this time oblivious to the emotional variations of their grandma. Teo had his eyes opened like saucers while Mosi was telling him about the ritual.
Teo had decided there was no point doubting his brother’s story. After all, their grandma was in the house and he would be able to ask her directly about all of this to make sure it was true.
What made him so excited was the fact that he was convinced that he would be able to persuade his grandma to teach him some of her tricks in case what Mosi was saying was really true.
“So after she got the knife out and collected both her and your blood you two grabbed hands and the knife started levitating there? No one was grabbing it? You sure she didn’t have something to hold onto the knife? Like a wire or something?”
“Like I told you before, I’m telling you the things the way I saw them. If there was a wire I definitely didn’t see it. It doesn’t mean there wasn’t one. However the most amazing thing is what happened after the knife started levitating!”
After Mosi finished telling the story of the day Teo was so excited he almost ran to the kitchen to verify the story with their grandma. If it wasn’t for Mosi who stopped him he would have definitely barged into the kitchen right then and demand his grandma confirm the story and in case it was true do everything he could to learn how to do those things too.
“Teo what’s the hurry? Aren’t we all going to have dinner together? Can’t you wait till dinner? Or even better till after dinner while we are resting the meal to have a pleasant conversation with grandma? You are usually a very obedient little brother, what’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”
“Brother! You know these things are my weak spot! I’ve always dreamt of doing magic and magical things in general. To have a weapon with magic properties, to fight with evil beings, to have a magical creature as my pet or my mount! Just imagining being able to become invisible like grandma, having a magic bag or all the other possibilities has my blood boiling!”
Mosi was a bit surprised by his brother’s outburst. He usually was such a calm kid, reading his books and fantasizing with them quietly. He realized he had never fully understood the extent of his passion. He couldn’t help but wonder if his brother would leave him behind if it meant being able to fulfill his fantasy. It left him with a sour feeling that he couldn’t take away.
“I now realize I hadn’t truly understood how passionate you were about this. But nonetheless you need to be patient. Wait for dinner and things will naturally be explained to us. Don’t pester grandma too much. Bear in mind that today is the first day we meet her. Don’t you want to leave a good impression with her?”
“Yes brother, you are right. I need to calm down. I wouldn’t want to scare her away. After all if I pretend to become her apprentice I need to behave properly like you have taught me. Thank you for reminding me.”
After saying this Teo smiled and hugged his brother. Mosi couldn’t but smile proudly as well. His eyes got moist but he quickly controlled his emotions so as to not let any tears fall. He would never forget his father teaching him that real men don’t cry. Although whenever his mother heard his father say this she would rebuke him he still felt that what his father said made sense.
Right at that moment, as if she was waiting for the brothers to finish talking a voice could be heard from the kitchen.
“Hey boys! Come here! Dinner is ready, come and help yourselves!”
“Wow grandma this looks amazing! So much food! Where did all of this come from? I’m pretty sure we didn’t have so much variety in the pantry!”
“Come on Mosi, I did tell I was going to treat you guys to a nice dinner. Besides you had already told me you didn’t have much available in the pantry since your shopping day is on sundays. So I simply took out some things from my bag.” Elisa winked at him after saying this.
Teo almost couldn’t stop himself from blurting out with the hundreds of questions that he had. Especially after this obvious mention of the magic bag! But he knew he had to make the best possible impression to his grandma. So he managed to control himself and behaved properly. He would wait for the best opportune moment.
Everyone grabbed clean dishes and starting serving themselves sumptuous portions of food. Even after filling up their plates there was enough left to fill all of them at least once more. They walked to the table and sat down. The two kids were about to start digging in when a stern voice stopped them.
