Chapter 10

1258 Words
Elisa was ecstatic after hearing the zeal in young Teo’s voice. If all kids where this interested and committed to the higher arts and spiritual path this world would be a different place no doubt.  “Someone woke up full energy this morning!” Mosi said looking lovingly at his younger brother. “Good morning to you too, now come here and give your brother and grandma a hug.”  “Well, let’s have breakfast then. After we eat we’ll then speak calmly. After all, everything I have to tell would probably take several weeks and we would just brush the tip of the iceberg. So I’ll just give you guys a brief and general summary for now.” They had breakfast quickly and moved to the living room where they all sat down. Teo was particularly excited and even though Mosi was taking care to control his emotions you could detect he was equally excited at the prospect of hearing what his grandma had in store for them. “So... Where to begin? There is actually so much to tell you guys that I find it hard to decide where to begin. Did either of your parents ever teach you anything unusual Mosi?”  “No... They never taught me anything magical” said Mosi crestfallen “Could our parents also perform magic?” “Yes, they certainly could.” said Elisa with a slight frown. “Well I guess it’s best I start from the beginning though it might become nighttime before we notice.”  After a deep breath Elisa started “The history you guys have studied in school only covers the last few thousand years. However, humans have existed on Earth for hundreds of thousands of years. Humans, like other sentient races of the universe, came into existence for the purpose of experimentation. We came into being to experience free will. We all have a piece of God in our bodies. Our soul is a piece of God that parted from the one, from the source, to experience free will.”  She looked at the boys to check if they were following her and noticed they were completely enraptured by her.  “You see, God is light. A light so bright that allows no darkness. But you must ask yourselves, just like God did, if there is no darkness, does light truly exist? That’s the reason why God decided to create everything. He wanted to prove or demonstrate his own existence.” Both kids were considering what she just said. It was complicated for both of them no matter their age. They both came to a conclusion almost at the same time when their eyes fell upon the shadows.  “Just like that shadow over there. If the sun wasn’t shining through the window then the shadow wouldn’t be there. So if there is no light there is no darkness. Most likely if there’s only darkness then it would disappear. Both need the other to exist.” said Teo with a pensive look on his face.  “Very good!” clapped Elisa “Although it’s not proven that they need each other, at the very least since the beginning of the universe both have been at war. Our world is no exception. Nowadays mankind has long forgotten about this war. But our world used to be very similar to those fantasy stories your brother told me you liked very much Teo.”  “Our world used to be like that? How come? Why isn’t it like that anymore?”  “Oh but it is you see. Our world is still like that just that not on the open or on the surface. When I say surface I mean precisely that. There’s a world under our world, or inside might be a better way to say it. There is an underground world where magical creatures and beings of darkness reside.” “So below the surface exist magical creatures like the ones in stories? And what do you mean by creatures of darkness?” “Yes, in the underworld there are still magical creatures and beasts that have very special properties. Their materials are incredibly valuable for people like us who fight the darkness encroaching on our world. The creatures of darkness I mean would generally be referred to as demons. This underworld would be what people associate with hell. Although those aren’t the only creatures of darkness that exist or have existed in our world those are the ones that mainly populate that underworld.” Elisa took some time to drink some water and circulate the energy in her body. Speaking of these things to people who haven’t been initiated is very consuming and she could feel how her body heat was lowering consistently. “As of now the world is controlled almost in its entirety by the forces of darkness. They have multiple purposes or objectives in doing this. The first one is to control mankind, to keep us asleep so to speak. Mankind’s purpose is to produce light, we naturally produce light but our genetic condition has been damaged to a point where, unless we produce light consciously, it will be a minimal amount.”  “To produce light grandma? What do you mean by that? How can the purpose of mankind be to produce light? And what does it have to do with our genetic condition?” Mosi couldn’t make heads or tails of this statement and simply blurted out these questions that immediately appeared on his mind. “Well don’t get ahead of yourselves, remember I’m just doing a summary for you, a general overview so to speak. Be patient and I’ll naturally answer those question in due time.”  “Ok grandma, I’m sorry.” “Their second purpose is to break the seals that separate the underworld from the surface world. If they manage to do this then their control over the world would be absolute and the forces of light would have to surrender this world in its entirety. That would basically mean the end of mankind as we know it. We would have become a failed project, a failed experimentation.”  At this point Elisa started feeling an emptiness in her belly. When she checked the time she realized it was high time they had some lunch. Just at this moment the brother’s stomachs rumbled audibly. They all looked at each other and giggled. They had been so into the story that they hadn’t checked the time or taken a break to prepare a meal.  “How about we eat the leftovers from yesterday so we don’t have to cook? We can keep on talking after that. Would that be okay by you two?”  “Yes grandma!” Both brothers answered at the same time.  “Yesterday’s dinner was truly delicious” Mosi was relishing the memory of the flavors in his mouth the night before “I could probably eat that menu everyday and not get tired or bored of it.” “Ok then, you two just wait here resting while I heat up everything. I’ll call you over when it's ready so we can eat and then come back here to keep this history lesson going. Does that sound good?” “Yes, thank you grandma. Don’t you want any help? We can help you, you know? You are the one that's been doing all the speaking. You surely are more tired than we are. Why not let us heat everything up while you rest?” “Nonsense! This grandma of yours hasn’t had the chance to pamper either of you since you were born! It’s naturally my duty to pamper you every once in a while.” After saying this Elisa’s face and eyes showed an mischievous glint before she turned to look at the kids. “Besides its best if you two rest now. We’ll soon begin physical and spiritual training coupled with magic lessons. And trust me when I say that you will be utterly exhausted by what’s to come.”
