I wished it all was a dream. I hoped that I would wake up in my room. But I opened my eyes in the strange new underground room. There were no windows so I woke up in darkness. It confused me at first. I had no idea what time it was. I scrambled across the bed reaching until I could find the nightstand. I finally found it and traced my fingers to the lamp to turn it on. There was a small clock next to the lamp. The time was 10:15 am. I never slept that long. I must have been exhausted. I got up and rushed to the bathroom to clean up and get dressed. I must be the only one still in bed. After I showered, brushed my new fangs and got dressed. I looked at myself once more. I was still infected, I still had fangs, and my eyes were just as red as before. I stepped out my room to walk around and see where everyone was. It was strangely quiet. I walked the halls looking for people. Did I miss something? Was everyone gone? I wondered the halls curiously until I heard a door open. I stopped in my tracks. The door opened to reveal Andre in nothing but pajama bottoms and ear covers, holding out a bottle of melatonin vitamins. He looked like he was still sleep. It was obvious now to me that I must have woken him up. "Sorry. I didn't know I was near your room." I said. "Here." He replied in a low growl as his tossed the vitamins into my hand. "No one's up cause we sleep during the day. Because of the sun." He mumbled. Oh, I had to learn a new sleeping style. "Right," Andre answered my thought. I looked back at the shirtless Andre, I felt bad because he looked so tired. "Don't worry about me, those will help." Andre quickly closed the door after he spoke. I made a mental note of his door number, 230, and I hurried away. I guess I had to try and go back to sleep. I went looking for my room and found myself lost in the halls. I had wondered too far. "Are you lost?" I heard an unfamiliar voice call out. I turned to see where the voice came from. A small woman stood at the end of the hall. Suddenly she was right in front of me. She looked tired but wore a friendly smile. She was pale. It made her freckles stand out along with her natural red hair. Her bright red eyes made her appearance striking. "I'm Gertrude, I'm a guard on shift." She said. "Oh, yes, um I am lost." I answered her first question. "I figured since I've never seen you before. Do you remember your room number?" Gertrude asked me. She seemed very friendly. "Yes it's 305." "Oh wow, your pretty far. But don't worry, I'll get you back there." Gertrude lead me down the halls to get back to my room. "I see you're still trying to adjust to the sleep schedule. If you want you can work a morning shift on the guard. You would have to undergo some training first." She explained. I told her I would consider it. She must know a lot about this place. We took hidden short cuts and tunnels I'd never seen. Finally we found my room. I thanked her and went in. Gertrude seemed so sweet and kind. I wonder how some of these people here got infected. I also wondered how Andre got infected. Suddenly all I could think of was shirtless Andre. He was tone and built for his small frame. And his height helped as well. What was I thinking! I had to focus on something else. I took two melatonin and got back in bed. I thought about my family. They must be freaking out. I felt guilty. My mom was probably worried sick and my dad's probably calling everyone we know. Why did I put myself in this mess. This was my new reality. Tears flood my eyes, I tried to calm myself. In the midst of my sorrow Andre's abs pop into my head again. Instead of trying to shake the thought, I let it wonder since it helped me calm down. As long as Andre wasn't around to poke in my head I was safe. My eyes were getting heavy fast. The melatonin was very strong. I feel asleep in a matter of seconds. My thoughts intertwined with my dreams. I dreamed I was wrapped in Andres arms. I couldn't tell if this was a nightmare or not. I couldn't move, but I didn't want to move. I was freaked out, but I was enjoying it at the same time. I really hoped Andre was sleep and in his room. I jumped out of my sleep quickly. I was still in the same dark room. My eyes were adjusting to the darkness. I turned on the light to check the time. It was 2:30pm. It was still daytime. When I woke this time, I was greeted with an unusual hunger. I made my why to my new kitchen to check what was in the fridge. I found a large pitcher that had a familiar sweet aroma. There was a note on the pitcher that read, "Here is your first supply of nourishment. When you are unable to hunt, use this pitcher. When empty, take to the main office for a refill request. Enjoy!" Hunt? I have to hunt? I got a cup and poured a glass of blood. I drank it down fast. My hunger subsided. As I put the pitcher back, I thought of ways to pass the time. There was about three and a half more hours till the sun would set. Maybe I could go back out to the main floors to look around while everyone was still sleep. It would be quiet and I could do some writing. I grabbed a notebook and a pen from my bookcase and made my way through the halls. This time I wouldn't get lost.
