Vampires are Real

812 Words
Back at my room, I finally had time to process what happened to me. I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I looked over my appearance as a newly infected vampire. My skin was still brown, but it seemed dulled out. Most of the people here who where brown skinned had more of a glow. I wonder if it could be makeup, or possibly have something to do with how much blood they consumed. I remembered how Andre looked when I first saw him. He had dark circles under his eyes at first. But when I saw him again the dark circles were gone and he looked almost golden. Would that happen to me? I leaned into the mirror and grinned to see my fangs. I never felt them come in. I tried to keep myself from freaking out as I looked over them. I was a vampire now. I was apart of a new underground world. I also got my wish to run away. But I could never go back. The thought made my stomach roll and I left the bathroom to lay down on the bed. There was also the hospital m******e to think about as well. I had never seen a dead body before, and now I'd seen several and watch one die as well. There were so many thoughts and unanswered questions running through my head. Was there really no cure? What was the hospital doing with the infected? It was about 1 am and I felt pretty tired so I decided to sleep my worry and regret away. I'd deal with it tomorrow. Alex and Sabrina: Alex's P.O.V.  Two years ago, a virus broke out that shook the world and caused division amongst us. This virus caused humans to experience vampire like characteristics. Our skin became sensitive to the sun, our strength and agility improved, and we had and uncontrollable hunger for blood. Over the past two years a lot has changed. There is still no cure or any way to prevent the infection from taking over. In order to keep vampires from killing and/or spreading the virus, hospitals have started killing the infected before they become a full threat. Officers, armed forces, and many other officials have been instructed to kill vampires on sight. There are some infected vampires that want violence and war. They see this as a new opportunity to take over. But then there are others who were simply caught in the cross fire and only want peace. I decided to make that possible. With a lot of help, strength and creativity, I was able to build an underground town for anyone infected that wanted to live in peace until a cure was discovered. In order for us to maintain our secrecy and survive, we would go on missions to acquire blood from blood banks and hospitals. So far we have thrived. Our last indecent however may have caused some uproar. “What do you think?” Sabrina asked me. She wanted to know how I felt about what happened above ground with Andre. “He's still adjusting. That stunt he pulled could have gotten us killed. But he's still very damaged.” I told her. “Maybe he wasn't ready for a stealth mission just yet.” Sabrina replied. Andre had been with us for three months now. When he came to us, he was on the run from an unknown force. We took him in and learned about his psychic abilities. I believed his talent would come in handy for our stealth missions. “Yeah, I guess.” I told her. I was upset about today. We were only suppose to collect the blood supply and rescue some patients. Whatever Andre saw, made him loose control. “It was chaotic Sabrina.” I told her as I sat down on our couch. She walked over and sat next to me. She brought my head to her chest with her arms and held me there. “When I saw Andre and not you, I almost...” Sabrina paused for a second and I felt her arms tighten. “It's alright.” I assured her. I pulled my head from her grasp and kissed her cheek. “I wont let that happen.” I told her. She held on to me tight. In the back of my head I wondered how long we would be able to survive like this. We need blood to survive and more infected vampires are taking refuge here. Animal blood has become a great substitute for us when we are low on human blood but its an acquired taste and requires a great deal of hunting. I knew I needed to do everything in my power to help us get through these confusing times. The virus had brought upon a new era. Vampires were real.
