CHAPTER 31

Its 7am and I am ready for my second shift of working for Jenny, it feels so great having something to look forward to, I decide to message dad while I wait for the others to be ready so Sebastian can drop me off at work.

‘Morning Dad! Just wanted to check in on you, also have some news for you too, I have a Job! I am working at a Jenny’s Diner, while everyone is back finishing off the school year.’

About 2 minutes later

‘Morning baby girl, everything is great here, Maney and Charlie are completely safe, and I have been giving Kevin so hard training sessions. That is great news! I am glad you are settling in and have found something to keep your mind off the other things! Stay safe baby girl I will call you tonight if your free.’

‘Thank you dad! Will do! Talk tonight!’

I run down stairs and fine that Lucy was here chatting with Alpha Isaac and Luna Lisa.

“Morning everyone!” I say

“Morning Carter” they all respond

“Carter, I have finished the barrier around the area for you guys, I have also added some extra security around it as well, which means you will sense any danger first as you have the power to.” Lucy tells me.

“Your amazing at your work Miss Lucy! Thank you so much.” I say with absolute gratitude.

“You are most welcome Carter, now I should be off, remember if you need anything else let me know!” she said

“Will do, thank you again.” I say as she was walking out the door with Alpha Isaac, Luna Lisa stayed behind with me.

“Carter Hunni, can we have a quick chat before you head off to work?” she asked

“Of course Lisa! I have done something wrong?” I asked worried I had upset someone.

“Oh no sweetheart you haven’t done anything wrong, I just wanted to chat with you about my father, it seems he has taken great interest in you after your meeting at the diner yesterday, when I went to see him you was all he could talk about!” she says with a massive smile. “He is also worried for you as I informed him on what is going on and why, he gave me a really big lecture for letting you work and go ahead with your plan.” She continued.

“I’m so sorry if I have caused you trouble with all of this Luna.” I say confused a bit

“No sweetheart don’t be sorry, what I am meaning to say is thank you for being so kind and caring to my father, he can be a bit of a grump to people and when my mother passed he got worse, having you here has given him a boost in spirits.” She smiles at me with pride in her eyes. “You will make a lovely Luna in a few years Carter, I just want you to know how proud I am that it is you who will take my place.” I see a tear in her eyes, not a sad tear a happy one.

“I really like your father Lisa he was so nice to me and I felt like I connected with him straight away, I never got the chance to meet with any of my grandparents so I feel honoured I have you’re fathers approval. Your kind words mean the world to me Lisa, Thank you.” I say hugging her tightly.

“Carter, where are you? Were ready to leave.” Sebastian calls out

“Coming!” I yell back.

“Sorry Luna I need to go, see you when we get back.” I say heading out the front with the others.

It wasn’t long and we was at the diner, Sebastian gave me a quick cuddle and kiss before he left, I walked up to the doors and opened them to see Jenny starting the coffee machine and serving the first customer for the day.

“Morning Carter, you’re here a little early.” She say smiling at me.

“Morning Jenny! I know I was hoping to see Michael before I started today.” I say giving her a smile back as I walked into put my bag away.

“Well, sweets your just in time! He is about to walk through the door.” She said happily.

I headed back out to the front and seen that Michael had just opened the door to come in.

“Good Morning Michael!” I say happily, he smiles at me

“Good Morning Carter, have you started already?” he asked

“No, Sebastian dropped me off early, I wanted to have breakfast with you if you came before I started work.” I say giving him a big smile.

“Perfect! I have somethings I want to talk to you about.” He said happily

“I will get us some breakfast and drinks; take a seat I will be right back!” I say heading back to the kitchen to give the cook our order, Jenny was already making the coffee’s for us so once the food was ready, I took it over to the booth Michael had chosen.

“Here we go! Eggs, bacon with some toast and coffee!” I say handing him his plate and drink.

“Thank you Carter!” he says with gratitude, I just smile at him and start to dig in.

“Lisa came by and filled me in yesterday with everything that is happening, I don’t agree with it one bit, however I can see your point of view, you remind me a lot of my late wife.” He says as he takes a sip of his coffee.

“I am sorry to hear about your wife Michael.” I say giving him my condolences.

“Her name was Nancy, she was a free spirit at times, but very strong willed, she was brought up to fight, that is exactly what she did all her life until the very end.” He said reminiscing “She was also a very special person Carter, can you guess what she was?” he asked, I looked at him shocked

“She was like me?” I asked knowing he knew what I was talking about. He nodded with a smile.

“That she was, however, not many people knew as she knew how at risk she was, if anyone had found out… That Tomas boy was the last person to see my dear Nancy before she died.” He added

“Tomas hurt Nancy?” I asked shocked, but with no doubt

“I believe he did, but I had no proof… but once Ella told me about your situation it confirmed my theory.” He said

“I will make him pay for you Michael.” I respond with determination. He shakes his head, “No Carter, I will make him pay.” He said giving me an evil grin, I couldn’t help but smile.

“Carter, your spirit and attitude call out to me, I want to help keep you safe, and really get to know my grandsons Mate, the day you arrived here I was given this boost in my life to get my life back on track. I believe it was Nancy telling me to help you and be here for you, my daughter and grandchildren. Meeting you yesterday gave me the hope I have been looking for the last few months.” He says

“Michael I am honoured I have helped you; I also felt a connection when meeting you.” I say giving him my best smile.

“Now, we will get off the sad stuff, if you and Sebastian want I have my own plan at home that I have mapped out last night I want you both to look at, I think it might help you more.” he adds with a smile.

“Oh we would be happy to come and have a look! We can come over when I finish work.” I say.

“That will work perfectly! I need to congratulate my grandson on his most prized possession now too, give him so pointer too.” He says grinning

“Well I best start work now, but I will definitely see you this afternoon.” I say getting up

“Yes! Thank you for having breakfast with me Carter, it means a lot to me.” He says with appreciation.

I smile “you are most welcome Michael; I would be happy to do this every day with you if you wanted?” I asked

“That would be lovely Carter! Oh, bring the granddaughter of mine too!” he says getting up from his chair.

“I will make sure they are both with me!” I say waving him out of the diner.
