CHAPTER 30

After my breakdown I felt better in myself, Sebastian, Curtis, Grace and Stacey have all gone to College today to get back to normal and finish of the year. Luna Lisa is taking me to Jenny's diner today to see if she can use an extra pair of hands for a few weeks, I am super excited I haven't had a job before purely because no one really liked me in my pack.

"Carter, are you ready sweets?" Luna Lisa calls out to me.

"Yes Luna, ready when you are." I call back heading to the front door to meet her.

We make our way to the diner, as soon as we walk in Luna is greeted with full respect by everyone, I can't help but smile at the way everyone is so friendly and nice around here.

"Good morning Luna, how are we doing this morning? Oh, I see you brought back Carter! Lovely to see you again sweets." Jenny says.

"Morning Jenny." I say

"Morning Jenny, what have I said about calling me Luna! It's Lisa for you your like a mother to me!" Luna says to Jenny

She just laughed at her, "What can I get you both today Lisa?" She asked.

"We was hoping to have a chat with you, Carter here was needing something to do for the rest of the school year as she completed her high schooling before she came here and will start college next year." Luna stated. "It will also help me make my son finish his school year knowing Carter is in safe hands."

"Oh, this is perfect timing! My normal waitress has just taken some time off as she had her baby last week! So, I could definitely use an extra pair of hands here!" She says happily!

"Do you have any experience in serving sweetheart?" She asked me

"I don't, but I am a quick learner! I never got to have a job before as I was kind of the outcast in my pack until recently." I admit to her.

"That's fine sweetheart! Everyone is lovely here, so They won't mind if you make mistakes while learning! When would you like to start?" She asked me.

"I can start now if you like!" I say excitedly!

She smiles at me "perfect! I have a new uniform in the staff room I will grab it for you to change into." She says heading back out to grab it.

I turn to Luna. "Thank you so much for your help Lisa! This means a lot to me!" I say giving her a hug.

"Your most welcome Carter! I will do anything for you! Never forget that, now I will pick you up when you are finished here is my number just give me a call. Please don't leave until me or Sebastian come to pick you up." She says hugging me back. Jenny comes back and hand me the outfit I am to wear.

"I promise! Thank you I will see you later!" I say running back to get dressed in the outfit Jenny gave me.

It's nothing fancy, a basic orange skater style dress with a reddish apron over the front a cute little pocket with Jenny's diner written on it. I put my hair into a high pony tail before I leave the bathroom, and mind link Sebastian on my way out to meet Jenny.

"Jenny is taking me on!" I yell through the mind link

"That's great babe, I'm happy you have something to look forward to now. When do you start?" He replied instantly

"Now, I'll talk to you later! Enjoy college." I say cutting it off.

"Okay I think I'm ready what would you like me to do first." I ask Jenny excitedly.

"I've never met someone so keen to jump in and work." She says with a smile. " To start you can take your first customers order over there." she points to the new customer sitting at a booth.

"Sure thing!" I say and grab a pen and paper and head over.

"Good morning! What can I get for you today?" I ask the old man.

“You’re a happy new face today, who might you be?” the old man asked with a smile, I can tell he is a Wolf like everyone in the diner.

“My name is Carter, I recently moved here from the Sliver Moon Pack Sir.” I respond with a cheerful smile.

“Carter, that is such a unique and beautiful name! if you don’t mind me asking why did you leave your pack.” He asked curiously.

“Oh, my mate belongs to this pack sir.” I says with a smile

“Well, I am grateful to have met a new pack member, it gets a little boring seeing the same people here every day. I might know your mate what is his name?” he asked

“Sebastian.” I respond

“Sebastian? You mean my grandson? Luna Lisa’s Son?” he asked surprised

“Yes Sir, he is the one.” I smile

“Well, isn’t he a lucky one! Why haven’t they told me yet?” he asked in a slightly sad tone.

“I’m sorry Sir, that could be my fault, Sebastian wanted me to settle in before I was introduced to the pack formally. I know a lot has happened the last 2 days, please don’t take offence.” I say trying to reassure him.

“No need to be sorry child, I will act surprised when they tell me. One more question sweets, why are you working here?” He said giving me a smile.

“Well, I completed my final exams for high school before I came here, and Sebastian and Grace still had to attend college for a few weeks, so I wanted to find something to do to help out around here while they are at school.” I reply with a smile.

“You will definitely make a great Luna Carter; I can already tell! I will take a Coffee and some bacon and eggs.” He said giving me a smile

“Thank you! That means a lot to me. Oh, Great choice sir that’s my favourite breakfast too! I will bring it over right away!” I say cheerfully

“Thank you Carter, we might have to breakfast together next time!” I smile and go back to get his order ready. As I return to give him his order he says before I leave. “Please call me Michael Carter.” With a smile.

“I hope you enjoy your breakfast Michael; it was lovely meeting you! if you would like anything else just give me a yell.”  I say smiling at him and make my way over to help Jenny.

The day went by really quickly working, I picked everything up so quick Jenny wouldn’t stop complimenting me. It was 4pm and Jenny told me I was done for the day so I needed to call Lisa to come and pick me up, I go to do that but Sebastian and the other walk in the door, so I walk over and give him a big hug and say hello to everyone else, they decided to get a coffee before we left so we all sat in the booth at the back.

“Hey, I met your grandfather this morning guys.” I say to Sebastian and Grace who look at me shocked.

“When? Where?” they both asked confused.

“Right here, he was my first customer I served this morning, he was a little hurt you never told him about me, but I tried to tell him it was my fault.” I say

“Our grandfather? Michael? Came to this diner today?” they both say shocked completely.

“Yes! Why are you both so shocked?” I asked confused.

“Carter, he hasn’t left the house since our Grandmother died 2 months ago, he didn’t take it very well, they did everything together including coming here for breakfast every morning.” Sebastian responds.

“Oh, I am so sorry to hear that guys! Well he looks really well and told me he would see me first thing tomorrow morning.” I say unsure what else to say.

“Carter this is great news!” Grace says

“Mum will be so happy to hear about this.” Sebastian adds

everyone finished off their drinks and we headed home, we told Lisa about today and she was ecstatic! She left the house right away to go and visit him and explain everything to him, as she also felt bad for not notifying him of the recent events. I told Sebastian I would get a lift to work tomorrow with him, so I am there early just in case he comes in before I start, which he was happy to do thank god. We spent the rest of the day catching up and relaxing in the games room until it was dinner time, we all hung out a little longer then I decided to call it a night, so I was nice and fresh for work tomorrow.
