Chapter 1
Cassandra’s Pov:
The pulsing lights of the club washed over everyone in waves of red and pink. The bass throbbed in my chest like a heartbeat.
A Valentine's party, that's what it’s supposed to be. But it’s more like a hook up party considering all those people who have their tongue down their partner's throat and grinding openly. Today is supposed to be full of love and purity no?
Task,Valentine's gone wrong,I guess.
I feel like stabbing them whenever I see couples being lovey dovey just because I don’t have that. Even though I have a freaking boyfriend.
At the thought of my non existence of a boyfriend who, this time has surprisingly lasted for 2 months, my mood sours.
I lean against the bar, glass in hand, watching Jasper and Layla argue over some ridiculously bad choice Jasper made.
P.s. She always makes bad choices.
Jasper huffed, swirling her cocktail with a frown of anger. “I just don’t get it. One day, he approached me, flirted with me, asked me to be his girlfriend and two days later, he broke up with me and that too through an Insta post. Can you believe it?”
“Did you like him?”Layla asked, and I chuckled.
With Jasper it’s never feelings. She doesn’t do that.
I raise my brows and take a sip. “I guess that hurt your ego?”
I know I am right when she scoffs coldly. “I guess. He could have told me face-to-face, or texted me, or even called me, but no. He went on posting publicly that he was breaking up with me just one day after I announced that we were dating. Isn’t that slapping my face? Everyone is making fun of me right now.”
“I told you he was bad news. But you went after him anyway just because he is handsome and the new popular guy.” Layla says, rolling her eyes. “Everyone knows he is a prick and gives a darn care about everyone. It’s no surprise he didn’t think about you.”
I tilt my head slightly, suddenly interested.“Wait, new guy? Who is it?”
“Kayden was it? I heard he returned from the States recently. Apparently,he was at an elite university and was also a top student. And according to students of his department,he also seems rich as hell. But he is a playboy which if you ask me, is quite fair. With a face like that, it would be weird if he wasn’t.” Layla says, chugging down her drink and I cross my hands over my chest.
“Was there someone with that name in our generation’s rich kids? I don’t remember hearing this name.”
“Duh doesn’t matter. With his prickly attitude, I bet he would want to get along with us anyway.” She says, and Jasper slams down her glass with a sharp calmness.
“I don’t care about any of that. I want revenge! That asshole made fun of me like that. I refuse to take it lying down.” She says, looking determined.
It’s true though she has never been played like that. She is always the one breaking hearts. Now I am tempted to meet this asshole.
I raise my brows and lean forward with a lazy smile.“Define revenge, babe.”
“I want to give him a taste of his own medicine. Nah maybe a bit more then that. Sleep with him, take pictures and later post about how disappointing and small he was.”Jasper says with a smirk and I snicker. “And pray tell, why would he sleep with you? He broke up with you.”
She smiles like a fox and looks at Layla.“I never said I was going to do that. Layla will do that.”
Layla chokes on her drink and wipes her mouth.“Girl have you seen his face? That cold glare of his alone is enough to make me run. There’s no way I am doing that.”
“Oh, come on, lay.”
“Nope! Not happening.” She says not wavering at all.
Jasper looks at me with puppy eyes and I roll my eyes. “Fine, I will do it.”
“Wait, what about your Matt?” Layla asks with a frown, and I cover my mouth with a hand, faking a small gasp.
“Ah... yes, I have a boyfriend. Totally forgot it since he hasn’t contacted me in two weeks.” I say sarcastically.
Layla winces lowly. “Sorry about that.”
“I guess we will get to teach that asshole a lesson soon.” Jasper says and points at a private area at the opposite side of the club. “See that one?”
I follow her finger and see a boy with Brown hair lounged in leather sofas with a group of boys. He looks a little wasted and average-looking.
When did Jas’s taste get so bad? He looks fine, but not someone she would go after.
However, when my gaze slides to the one beside him, my breath gets stuck in my chest. His smile is the first things I notice.
No smile, an arrogant smirk as he pinches the girl’s jaw, sitting on his lap. A teasing and playful look, that’s what his eyes were full of as his hands caressed that girl’s bare thighs with his muscular and veiny hands.
I gulp and clench my legs involuntarily.
Gosh, when did I start finding boys’ hands so hot?
His black hair falls over his forehead in a slightly messy way, which makes him look even hotter. He lazily leans back and pulls the girl with him, making her fall on his chest.
I am utterly jealous of the blonde girl as he grabs her face and kisses her lazily.
Damn, why is it that it’s always these playboys who have such a face and body?
The boy must have felt my glare because he stopped kissing her and lazily turned his head, looking at me straight in the eyes with a bored, lazy and extremely cold expression.
My breath hitches as I stare into his dusty,grey-toned green eyes.
Is that... light sage green? My gosh, I have never seen eyes so pretty. Despite the coldness swirling in his eyes, I have to admit he is the most handsome guy I have ever seen.
I stop ogling at him when I feel his sharp glare. He tilts his head a little, looking at me with a calculating gaze and smirks as if he knows what I am thinking about.
God, even his smirk screams trouble.
I instantly wrench my gaze away and get up with two glasses of alcohol.
“It’s that one, right?” I ask, trying to forget those cold eyes.
“Oh, wait, where are you going. Let me mix these first.” Jasper says and takes out a paper and unfolds it before dumping the powder in one glass.
“Wait, is this...?” I ask, and she smiles with a scoff.
“Drugs to make him pass out. Did you really think I was going to let you sleep with that asshole? Just make him drink this and take pictures with him when he is unconscious.”
I chuckle and shake my head.“So that's why you insisted on coming to this party. You knew he would be here.”
She shrugs and sits down confidently.“Yes, and I came prepared. Now get going, babe.”
“You guys sure about this? What if something goes wrong?”Layla says with a worried frown, and I smile at her.
“It’e Valentine Lay.Chaos is practically mandatory.”
“Exactly, it’s only about who causes it.” Jasper says with a cat-like smile, mirroring mine.
