At the apartment.
“Jasper Collins! Get the f**k back here!” I growl, chasing after Jasper with a broom. “I am going to crack your head open today.”
She lets out a scream and jumps over the couch, hiding behind Layla.
“I didn’t do anything, don’t come after meeee!” I grit my teeth and glare at her, which makes her wince as she peeks from behind Layla. “I pointed towards Kayden. Who knew you would mistake the guy sitting beside him for him? It’s not my fault.”
“You-” I step towards her, and she looks ready to run.
“Enough now. Technically, it’s no one’s fault. But you should have made sure with Jas one more time, Cass. After all, there’s a huge difference between Kayden and Marcel.”
Jasper stands straight with renewed confidence at Layla’s words. “Exactly. From which angle does Marcel look anything like Kayden? He looks more like a cockroach.” She says with a disgusted face.
Fine, I can’t argue with that. But I can’t possibly admit that I was too engrossed in ogling Kayden to pay attention to their words properly, right?
Better keep quiet.
I sigh in defeat and throw away the broom, sitting on the couch with my shoulders slumped.
They share a look before sitting on both sides of me, eyeing me with curious eyes that scream gossip.“So you... really slept with him? As in... you guys...”
“Yes.”
“How is he in bed?” Jasper asked immediately, and I held my head.
“Seriously? That’s the first thing you ask your bestie who slept with your ex?”
“He can’t be considered an ex actually. There were no feelings, and it lasted barely one day. It felt more like he was messing with me.” She shrugs carelessly. “Anyway, tell me quickly how he is in bed?”
I groan and hide my face in my hands, not wanting to talk about it. “I don’t remember anything.”
“Not a single thing?” Layla asked, and I shook my head.
“My poor girl, you slept with the Kayden King. But you remember nothing. What bad luck.” She says, shaking her head like it’s a great disappointment.
I snicker ridiculously. “The Kayden King? Seriously? You were talking about ruining his reputation just yesterday.”
“I still want to. But hey, you gotta admit he is handsome. Quite a catch if you ask me.” She says, winking playfully.
I stare at Layla, and she avoids my eyes, clearly agreeing with her.
I roll my eyes and get up, not wanting to talk about this anymore.
“When are you going home, Cass? Shall we go together?” Layla asks from behind.
“I am leaving tomorrow morning. Be ready if you are fine with it.”
“You guys are leaving so soon? That’s not fair! I planned so much for us to have fun together.” Jasper says, and I stop in my tracks before turning around, raising my brows.
“Those aren’t going to happen anyway, girl. You forgot about the holy family trip?” I ask sarcastically.
She falls silent, and then her eyes widen in realisation as she springs up and dashes to her room. “s**t! I need to start packing! Mom is going to kill me if she finds out that I forgot. I am going with you guys too!”
Layla and I share a glance and shake our heads before I retreat to my room.
My mom has two best friends. Aunt Morgan and Aunt Ragen. Since Jasper is Aunt Ragen’s daughter, we were practically shoved together from the moment we were born. At first, we were at each other’s throats, but being together for almost a decade has made us as close as sisters now.
My phone rings as soon as I lie down, and I groan in frustration, seeing the word Mom on the screen. Why can’t anyone let me close my eyes in peace for two minutes?
“Mom, what's up?”
“That’s what I should ask you, young lady! And seriously? What’s up? How unladylike of you.” She starts lecturing right away, making me roll my eyes.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my mom. But her nagging is something I have never been fond of.
“Hello there, mother. How are you? Is that okay?” I ask sarcastically, and I can already imagine her rolling her eyes in my mind.
“Enough with nonsense now. When are you girls coming back? Please tell me you two didn’t forget about the trip?” She asks excitedly, and I sigh, unable to bring myself to match her energy.
“How can I forget it when you are reminding me twice every day? Don’t worry, we will be there tomorrow morning.”
The said family trip is a traditional thing for our families. My family, Jasper’s family, and Aunt Morgan’s family plan a vacation trip together once every three years. And it’s a must for us all to attend. Or like a forced Must.
Don’t ask me.
Mom things.
She always blackmails us, and since Dad is whipped in love with his wife, he never takes our side.
“That’s good. Your brother is already here. Your aunt Morgan’s son is also here this time. Finally, it’s a complete family trip.” She says, and I open my eyes.
“Wait, Aunt Morgan’s son?”
“Yes, Amanda’s older brother. You guys used to play together when you were kids.”
This trip is a must-attend for all kids like us, except this person, who has never joined it after the age of seven. I can’t even remember his face anymore. He was already sent abroad as a kid because Uncle Aron is strict like that.
A shudder goes through my body as I remember Uncle Aron’s cold face.
Too scary.
“It’s been ages mom. I don’t remember him.” I groan, feeling my whole body scream in pain as I move around in my bed.
“Fine, fine. You guys will meet tomorrow anyway. Go to sleep early today, you hear me? And drive back safe.” Mom says, and I echo with her obediently, not having any energy to talk.
I lay in my bed quietly as she hung up and stared at the ceiling. Suddenly, a sage green eyed handsome face flashes in front of my face, and my heart skips a beat.
That smile... that playful smirk of his... and that body..
How is it even fair to have a face and body like that?
But more importantly, why the hell cant i stop thinking about him?
UGH!
I push my face into my pillow and let out a muffled scream.
Get the hell out of my head, you asshole!
