Morgan and Liam were just as nervous as I was. If Sebastian gives up on me, then they can rest easy from now on. To achieve his goal, Liam stared at Sebastian with a mocking look, trying to provoke him into giving up on me.
Sebastian remained silent for a long time. He clenched his fists, and his knuckles turned white. At Morgan's urging, he finally spoke.
"Let's go back."
I didn't say anything, afraid I had misheard. When he repeated, "Let's go back," I confirmed I hadn't misheard; he really intended to take me back. I was so excited that I almost cried.
I pretended to be calm and turned to look at Morgan, Liam, and Nora. Their faces were as unpleasant as if they had just eaten flies. I gave them the middle finger and then ran to catch up with Sebastian, following him to the car.
I sat in the back seat, huddled in the corner, which made me feel safer. The car was filled with an awkward silence. Sebastian had a cold, expressionless face, his eyes fixed firmly on the road, accelerating to 150 kilometers per hour, making the car feel like it might take off on the highway.
An hour later, the car stopped in front of a massive castle. This castle was a grand Gothic structure with towering spires on the roof, giving a somewhat intimidating impression. In front of the castle, there was a gravel road, bordered by an endless lawn. Beta was already waiting for us by the roadside, and I heard Sebastian call him Louis. Two soldiers guarded the entrance of the castle. When they saw Sebastian exit the car, they immediately saluted him. Sebastian waved them away.
Upon entering the castle, my attention was immediately drawn to the mounted deer antlers, horse heads, lion heads, and ivory on the walls. Louis noticed, and he whispered to me as he walked up, "These are the hunting trophies of the Alpha King." I politely smiled at him, thinking that he was a very friendly person.
"Take her to the attic and lock the door. Do not let her out without my permission," Sebastian instructed an Omega who happened to pass by, holding a vase of flowers.
What?! He's going to lock me up! Did he bring me back just to imprison me?
I protested, but he completely ignored me and walked upstairs. Louis, after apologizing to me, followed Sebastian and left.
"Miss, please follow me," the Omega said timidly.
The Omega was a frail, pale girl who looked only fourteen or fifteen. Though reluctant, I didn't want to make things difficult for her.
She led me upstairs to the attic, and I was greeted with a musty smell mixed with dust as the door opened. I brushed away the dust with my hand and walked in.
The attic was about twenty square meters, with a small pointed roof window that let in bright sunlight. The attic was minimally furnished, with just a bed, a bedside table, a wardrobe, a desk, a chair, and a door at the end of the room, which the girl informed me was the bathroom. Frankly, this room was much more comfortable than the prison in the Crescent Moon tribe.
"Miss, someone will come to clean this room later. If you don’t need any help, I'll excuse myself." the timid girl said.
"Wait!" I called her, "What's your name?"
"Julie." She answered. Then she walked away and locked the door.
After a while, there came the sound of the door unlocking. Two middle-aged women with kind faces walked in, each pushing a cart.
The first middle-aged woman, a little plump, named Elaine, brought a cart packed with brand-new clothes, clean bath towels, hand towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and soap.
The second woman, a little slimmer, named Giselle, brought a cart full of plates with roast chicken, broccoli, blueberries, grapes, and chocolate cake.
Saliva flooded my mouth. I stared at these delicacies, fearing that they would fly away like birds.
"Miss, these are the food and daily necessities prepared for you. If you need anything, please pull the drawstring beside the bed and we will come to serve you as soon as possible." Elaine said softly, with a sweet smile on her face, she should be the more easygoing of the two.
I was a little flattered by their gentle attitude. Since I was 16 years old, I haven't experienced the feeling of being respected by others for a long time.
"Thank you," I replied.
"You're welcome, this is what we should do," Elaine and Giselle said in unison, "If you have no other needs, we will leave first."
"Wait!" I stopped them as they were leaving, "May I know when I can see the Alpha King?"
They exchanged a glance, and a slightly embarrassed look appeared on their faces. Then, Elaine turned to me and said, "Miss, we don't know."
I sighed quietly and waved them away. I grabbed a piece of cake and a chicken leg, stuffed them into my mouth, and chewed, the grease and sugar soothing me.
No matter what, this place was a hundred times better than the Crescent Moon tribe; at least here, I didn't have to worry about being abused or being killed. As long as I stayed alive, I would have the opportunity to be free and seek revenge.
