Chapter 1: A New Beginning The salty breeze kissed Isabella Carter’s skin as she stepped off the boat, her six-year-old daughter, Ava, clinging excitedly to her hand. The island was breathtaking—crystal-clear waters lapped at the white sandy shore, and towering palm trees swayed under the golden sunlight. It was paradise. “This is amazing, Mommy!” Ava squealed, her brown curls bouncing as she spun in a circle. “It’s like a fairy tale!” Izzy forced a smile. A fairy tale. She wished she could believe in those again. But for her, this trip wasn’t about magic or romance—it was about escaping. Escaping the loneliness of the holidays, escaping the pitying glances of friends back home, escaping the painful reminders of a love lost too soon. This was supposed to be a distraction. Nothing more. A deep voice interrupted her thoughts. “Welcome to Isla Celeste. I’m Daniel Rivera, the owner of Sol Haven Resort.” Izzy turned—and for the first time in a long time, she felt something shift in her chest. Standing before her was a man who looked like he belonged on the cover of a travel magazine. Sun-kissed skin, tousled dark hair, and a relaxed smile that hinted at a past filled with adventure. His sea-blue eyes held warmth, but there was something else there too—something guarded, familiar. Izzy immediately straightened. She wasn’t here for charming strangers. “Isabella Carter,” she said, offering a polite nod. “And this is my daughter, Ava.” Danny crouched to Ava’s level, grinning. “Nice to meet you, Princess Ava.” Ava giggled. “I’m not a princess!” “Well, you sure look like one,” Danny said with a wink. “Do you like the ocean?” “I love it!” Ava beamed. “Mommy promised we’d have the best adventure ever!” Danny stood, his gaze flicking to Izzy’s. “Then I guess it’s my job to make sure you both have an unforgettable stay.” Izzy’s heart did something strange—something she hadn’t felt in years. And for the first time since booking this trip, she wondered if this holiday getaway would be more than just an escape. It might just be the start of something new.
