Bert and Hank were suddenly reluctant to enter the market place. Their eyes narrowed as they scanned the crowd as though they were now looking at enemies instead of friends.
Pastor Bill had also drawn up abruptly. “What do you mean, let them live’? How could we do otherwise?”
The stranger pointed a finger in the general direction of the Red Eyes, “Those things are not human!” he hissed in a low voice. “Their bodies may live, but their souls are dead. Everything that makes them human is gone. They are evil. If you don’t kill them, they will come for you.”
