Laura smiled back, her mouth tight lipped. Seth observed the interaction, knowing that something had passed between the two individuals, but not entirely sure what it was. They returned to the Mountain booth, and Laura played the gracious hostess, serving the two men bowls of rice topped with canned beef stew, and some dry chocolate chip cookies.
When she went back to the campfire, Seth followed her, giving them a moment alone away from the visitors.
“Well?”
She glanced back at them to make sure that they weren’t listening. They were happily eating and engaged in conversation with Pastor Bill. “They are warded,” she whispered.
“Warded, what does that mean?”
“I mean they have been psychically protected. It's like hitting a brick wall.”
