Jade’s POV
I clenched my fist, holding the edge of my overflowing, gluggy red gown. Anger surged through me. My throat tightened, every ounce of my body wanted me to send a slap across her face but I wouldn’t dare do that.
The kind of name I’ve built in Paris wasn’t something I would want to ruin because of some mother fuckers. I’m sure none of those people know who I am.
Over the years, I’ve been on a low. Letting every organisation I donate to. Including the ones I worked with, not to put my name out there.
I don’t want to be seen on TV either. It's just to protect myself, and Aiden. I know how dangerous that can get if our identities are revealed at all.
Till now, no one knows who is behind Ardor Enterprise. They all assumed it was a man.
“Ma’am, this way please.” One of the security guards interfered, and in the twinkle of an eye, Morgan sent a slap across his face, leaving me and everyone dumbfounded.
That’s so like her. That anger. She will never change. Not even in years. I never planned to respond to her; she was a complete waste of time.
“How dare you interfere when I’m not done talking to–”
“Sir, are you okay?” I rushed towards the security guard, upholding him while he helped his cheek, bowing to me at intervals.
“It’s fine, ma’am, I’m okay,” he continued to bow while my eyes flew to his red cheeks and ear.
“Listen, and listen good, Jade!” She lashed, but I wasn’t even concerned about her. I had asked my security agent to stand down earlier, never to interfere.
These people only know me by name; they didn’t realise that I wasn’t the Jade of five years ago. That I’m now a different person. With a unique Identity, who has shed off the name STEELE, and now bears a new name I created for myself.
“If you know what’s best for yourself, you have to leave this place, and go back to wherever f*****g holes you ran off to because if you think you can waltz your way in here to take my—”
Before she could finish her words, I had already signaled my guard from afar to take care of the security guard while I made my way inside. I don’t have time for this trash.
“Seriously? Is she just going to leave? Just like that? Hey!” Morgan yelled, throwing what seemed like a bottle of water at me, but Silas was quick to defend me, causing the water to splatter on his well-tailored suit.
“Morgan!” he thundered, looking behind, causing our faces to meet each other’s as the water dripped from his hair to his feet.
Before we knew what was going on, reporters and the like had already gathered, flashing cameras in their direction, but I was quick to leave.
Faint questions like “Are you still mad at your sister for ruining your marriage? For how many years was she married to your man? Mr Silas…”
Just as I entered the grand hall, which screamed of nothing but luxury, everyone bowed their heads to acknowledge my presence, but I was quick to tell them to ignore.
“Miss Jade,” Mr. Vincent, one of the HR for one of the tech companies in Paris bowed his head, extending his hand towards me, while I did the same with a gorgeous smile spread across my lips.
“Miss Jade, I’m hoping to partner with your company. It was recommended by Ardor Enterprise. It wouldn’t be bad if I invested in it, would it?” he smiled while I acknowledged him with a shrug.
As soon as he left, another CEO happened to walk towards me, each of them signaling that Ardor Enterprise had given out my name, pictures, and company name to them.
Oh, I forgot to mention that apart from the business world, I also have some tech companies I run. It’s like an academy where students who are interested in tech are being trained.
They, in turn, work for me and make money for the organisation,
And like that, I make my share. None of these CEO’s knew I was Ardor; if not, they would have torn this place down.
“Can we all have our seats while we wait for the chairman we know as Don Rosso?” the MC communicated, and we all did as we were told.
Waiting, laughing, drinking, and merrying. But just in the heat of the moment, my eyes flickered to a personality standing next to me.
“How may I help you?” I questioned, just to see Silas standing right in front of me, his eyes fixed on mine.
I looked around, but to my amazement, it seemed Morgan wasn’t anywhere. Well, with what happened earlier, anyone in their right senses would truly have sent her away.
“How are you? How have you been? I tried looking for you, but—”
Heat pooled in my stomach, and I felt a chill run down my spine. Anger was evident on my face as I clenched my fist tighter. Because right now, I can’t guarantee what I would do if he comes closer.
“Can you stay away from me?” I cut him short, my palms all sweaty. Right now, I’m holding myself back from the prey eyes of the reporters and any cameras out there.
“Jade, can we talk?” He requested, rudely in fact.
“I don’t want to create a–”
“You are still mine, Jade. We are still legally married, do you know that? So you cannot say no to me as your husband!” He flinched, speaking between gritted teeth.
“Husband?” I scoffed, picking up my phone from the table. I was about to send John in when he suddenly grabbed my hand.
“Let me go, Silas!” I snapped, but he wouldn’t budge. Not until my knight in shining armor appeared again, yanking my hand off his.
“She says to back off!” Jaxon interrupted almost immediately, my chest rising and falling in fear.
