Jade’s POV
“Arrest him,” I ordered my guards, whom I had asked to stay and guard the bar.
“We arrested some of the men as well,” they replied, while I signaled them to drag them out of the club.
“Where’s Raina?”
“I’m here, baby girl.” She laughed ecstatically. I could tell she was already drunk. Trying to pull her clothes off herself, I could sense something was wrong.
“I’m here,” she repeated, raising a bottle of champagne. “Raina, you are drunk.”
“Let me help her. She’s drunk.” A stranger offered to help from behind, his eyes a bit familiar even in the club’s blue light. Immediately, he stepped in front of me to hold Raina still. I recognised him.
“Dorian?” I called, while he answered with a bow. “It’s been a while.”
“I can help her to the hospital,” Dorian suggested, but Raina wasn’t having it at all. She was all over him, kissing and smooching. Saying all manners of naughty words to him.
“Just f**k me already,” Raina finally screamed aloud while I ordered the guards to guide her out with Dorian.
Behind me was Silas, who didn’t seem to know what to do or how else to approach me. “Hi…”
“Where are the divorce papers?” was the next question I asked, masking my feelings behind. I cannot afford to allow him to wriggle his way back into my life.
Damn my feelings!
Damn this racing heart! I’m not going to listen to any of those voices whispering in my ears to take him back. And I know that Aiden would never choose Silas. Not even in this life.
It was certain I had won this case already.
“There’s no back and forth on this matter, Jade. Can you just calm down and give me some–”
“No, Silas.” I reprimanded, pointing my fingers at him. “No. There’s no time for such, okay? I’m not interested in anything that has to do with you or whatever it is you want to say. Hand me the divorce papers, and let’s meet at court.”
“And what will become of Aiden? What kind of—”
“I’ve told you Aiden is not yours, and he will never be!”
“Not after the results prove him to be mine, Jade. He’s my blood.” Silas spoke between gritted teeth, shoving a paper from his pocket in my face.
“What results…” I paused, seeing the name of my son, and that of Silas on the paper, their blood groups and every other thing striking a balance.
“I don’t care whatever it is you do, Silas. Or even how you got this, or maybe you framed this, but!” I swallowed hard, tucking my hair behind my ear. “My son is never, and will never be yours. The earlier you get that into your thick skull, the better for us all!”
Silas scoffed, and a laughter came out of nowhere, leaving me dumbfounded for a second. “Do you think you are going to win against me?”
“You have nothing, Silas.” I moved closer, tapping him on the shoulder with my index finger. “You already lost the battle before it started.”
“Do I?” his voice rang out in the dark while I made my way towards the car to pay Raina a visit at the hospital.
I heaved a sigh, rolling my eyes out of frustration, because right now I’m so tired of talking to Silas. But deep down, am I really tired, or am I just scared I might fall into his arms?
I just cannot do that. It is too early to want that i***t back. He treated me like a scumbag. Like I was some sort of dirt.
No, no, no. I cannot, and will never, fall for his pranks.
“You think I’m not aware that you are going bankrupt? And that your clients are all leaving you for Ardor?” I spoke gently and slowly, so he could read between the lines.
“And because of that, you conclude that–”
“Yes, Silas. You are nothing compared to me. So quit trying, or we might have to meet at court.”
“Then let’s meet in court, okay?”
“Sure,” I replied, convinced that he was never going to win the case. No matter what, Aiden was going to choose me. I gave birth to him, and I trained him for five years. No way he was going to pick his father over me.
I adjusted my clothes and made my way towards the car when his voice stopped me. I stiffened upon hearing his next statement, which he repeated.
“I spoke with Aiden.”
“You did what?!” I flinched, turning back to stare him in the eye. Right now, we are outside the bar, the breeze slamming the cold into my skin, causing me to have goosebumps, my hair flying across my face, but none of them mattered when it comes to my son.
“You heard me. You said I framed this right?” he pulled up the paper in front of me and showed me again. “Well, I picked a hair on his head and did my findings.”
“It still doesn’t change anything, Silas!”
“Are you sure about that?” He stepped forward, emitting a proud and victorious aura.
My heart started beating faster, my knees almost failing, and different thoughts spiraling in my mind, but I tried as much as possible to push them all away.
“It’s not me being sure about it. I know what my son is capable of doing, and he’s nothing like you!” I barked, even though I still have my doubts.
I remembered how Aiden had constantly cried to bed, asking that he wants to see his father. And right now, do I think he wasn’t going to pick Silas over me?
“You know, rather than us dragging this thing, maybe we both can just come together and give Aiden a good—”
“Silas!” I yelped, clenching my fist in disapproval, eyes blazing… “I would rather die, okay?! I would rather perish than have you step back into my life!”
