Chapter 33

1135 Words
Silas’s POV “I don't know what you are talking about," she lied, taking a few steps back, confusion etched on her face. “Listen to me, Morgan.” I bit my lower lip, clenching my fist, while I took a step forward, making my way towards the exit. “As much as I don’t hit a woman or roughhandle one, I wouldn’t want to start now. You can step out of the office honorably.” I warned. “...It’s my last kindness to you.” Like that, I made my way out of her presence, but was grabbed from behind before I could open the elevator. “And what do you think you are doing?” I stopped, withdrawing my hand from the elevator buttons. “I’m sorry. I…” “Don’t you get it?” I questioned, yanking her hand off, and taking a step backward. “You cannot be serious.” She repeated consciously. “I mean, I know I did wrong, but I’m sorry. I can start over again. I can be Jade, I can—” “Don’t.” I raised my hand, halting her from saying more words. “Don’t try to be the person you are not, Morgan. You’ve been like this for five years, and nothing can change you. I’m done with it.” I reprimanded while I watched the elevator chime. I stepped away from her with my eyes darting away from hers. Shock was written all over her face…her eyes fixed on me while the elevator door closed. Just as I got out of the elevator, I snapped my fingers, and the drivers were all set to leave. Immediately, the door opened, I heard Morgan’s voice from afar. “This is not fair, Silas! You used me, and now you want to dump me?!” Turning towards my guards, I signaled them while I got in the car, watching Morgan being dragged out of the company by guards. Yelling, while I watched some reporters swarm around her. “What should we do about her, sir?” One of the guards questioned, but I said nothing. For now, she’s the least of my headaches. No sooner had I gotten to the school than all the teachers started to bow their heads. Each of them was watching me walk towards his classroom. Whispers flew around the seconds I was in the hallway, while Abel quickly approached me. “I made sure that no one uses their phone for now. I spoke to the school authority. So for now, you are safe.” Abel reported, making me feel calm and relieved. For now, I need some of his hair to be sure he really is mine. And I also need to speak to him. “Can I have a private chat with him?” “Yes, boss. I already bought us some time,” he answered. I heaved a sigh, adjusting my suit while I made my way towards the waiting room, when I suddenly stopped in my tracks. “And do you think he’s going to tell Jade?” “I don’t know…I mean, I know…” Abel stuttered, fear written on his face. Waving my hand for him to hold his words, I continue walking towards the waiting room. As soon as I stopped in front of the room, I asked my guards to stand by while I finally opened the door, standing in front of my son. I know he’s my son, but I needed much confirmation, if at all, that there was anything. His eyes were so cute, while I watched him blink countlessly, his aura calm and gentle. “Hello, little one. Do you still remember me?” My words faltered while I pulled out the chair in front of me, and I took my seat. “Hi,” his words were a bit calm, and somehow quiet. He doesn’t seem happy, unlike the day he called me daddy. He was hopeful, and somehow happy. “You don’t seem happy to see me.” “Mommy’s sad.” “Sorry? I don’t quite get that.” I replied, my heart racing faster. He was just as Abel had described him to be on the phone. Smart and very intelligent. “Mommy’s angry at you. Why don’t you apologise to her?” he continued, and that was when fear crept in again. I wonder how much Jade has told him. Did she really try to poison my child against me? Am I really that bad of a person to her? That she went this far to turn him against me? Seriously? “And how did you know—” “Aunt Morgan told me. She said you don’t like mommy and me. And you wanted to–” “Morgan told you all of that?” I watched him nod slowly, while fondling with his hand, looking towards the door, and back to me. “Yes. She did. And she said you are a bad person.” I heaved a sigh, my heart thudding faster than normal, leaving me weak and somehow exhausted. I cannot believe Morgan could go so far as to do this. She’s even making matters worse by saying all these things to a little child. Was she that desperate to really win me back? How come I was just getting to know all of this? “What’s your name, little one?” I asked, trying to touch his hair, but he wouldn’t even allow me to. “Does mom know you are here?” My heart stood still for a moment, my eyes boring into his while he stared right back at me. “I…um…” “I guess not,” he replied, gently getting off the chair. I swallowed hard, trying to think of a way to make friends with him, but how can I do that when Morgan has already planted the seed of wickedness forward? What can I say to win his heart? “I’m sorry,” my voice echoed in the empty room while I watched him turn his back on me. Coming closer towards him, I was quick to cut some of his hair while I decided to go on my knees, stooping to his level. “I know I wronged mommy, and I’m sorry about it. But–” “You do not have to apologise to me. Mr. Thornfield. Why not talk to my mom instead? She says you disgust her.” He spat with remorse. I stammered in shock, watching him make his way towards the door. “And honestly…” he stood still at the door, knocking for the other people outside to open up. “...I’m disappointed in you as my father.” His words hit me like a thunderclap.
