Silas’s POV
“What do you think I should do, Dorian? She hates me so much, but when I got close to her, it seemed she was still in love with me,” I replied, staring at the documents she had handed over to me.
Silence stretched, making me call out to Dorian. “Are you even listening?”
“Yes. Yes. It's just that…can I get back to you, friend? I've got to sort this file out. Let's chill out in the evening with the others. What do you think? We can talk over it at the bar.”
“Sounds great,” I answered, nodding my head. Currently, I have a lot to attend to. So an evening gathering won't be bad.
Right now, my head is on fire. I could barely focus. Flashback to how Aiden had looked—Gosh! It's more like I was seeing my small self.
“I need to have more conversation with him,” I muttered to myself, reaching out to Abel, my personal assistant, quickly.
“Boss,”
“Do you know where he schools now? And what's his full name?”
“I have no idea. All I know is that Adien is what they call him in school,” he answered with his back bent, followed by a bow.
“Get the driver ready. I want to pay a visit to his school,” I replied, about to leave my seat when Abel told me it won't be possible as no one is allowed into the school premises.
“Don't be daft,” I lashed back. Running my hand through my hair, wondering how I ended up with such a person as him.
“You should look for a way to do that. I don't have to tell you everything,” I heaved a sigh.
Stuttering, he bowed his head. “Yes, boss,”
Taking a few steps back, I watched him bolt out of the door, letting me know he would reach out to me as soon as he could make that happen.
I've been flipping through the files on my table for the past forty-five minutes, leaving me wondering if I'll truly be able to win Jade and my son over when my phone rings.
“Yes,”
“We can see him. But just for a few minutes. I tipped—”
“I don't care what you did, Abel. I want to see my son and get a DNA test done,” was all I could make up before hanging up.
A smile crept up to my face, my hand reaching for my wallet while I attempted to dash out of my office before clashing with Morgan.
What the heck does she want now?
I stood on my tracks, my eyes darting from her to the entrance behind. Because right now, all I could think about is meeting my son.
Watching her cross her arm over, with an akimbo stance, I took a few steps back. As much as I know that I can sometimes be a dickhead, I know, I won't raise my hand to hit a woman. Morgan has been acting like it these days, but I wouldn't be the one to teach her a lesson.
“Where do you think you are going?” She bluffed, jealousy written all over her face.
I scoffed, adjusting my suit, my eyes darting from her head to the sole of her feet.
Over the years, this lady has never been interested in any business I've been into. Whether to coordinate the staff or even try to help her father. All she had was some slotty w***e vibe.
“How many times have I told you never to show up—Abel!” I yelled, before realizing I had to go meet him at my son's school.
I'm not too sure he's mine though, but the eyes gave him away. I heaved a sigh, trying to refrain from my anger.
I clenched my fist, my eyes shut for a while before staring back at her in disbelief.
“You still love her, don't you, Silas?” She started, leaving me much more devastated than I already am. Every ounce of my body screams for me to push her out of the way. But I cannot try it.
I don't want to become a murderer overnight. And certainly Morgan won't make me one.
“Listen to me and listen good, Morgan. Whatever I do with my life is none of your business. And you do not have a say in my life because you are just a worthless–”
Slap!
Her hands connected with my cheeks so badly that they stung to the edge.
I blinked back in disbelief, swallowing hard while continuing my statement. “...bitch who doesn't have anything more to offer than her stinky body —”
She raised her hand again to repeat the same process, but I was sure to catch her hand in the air.
“Don't you dare it, Morgan!” I lashed back at her, anger burning inside of me, while I yanked her hand off.
“I've been there with you so many times. I gave you a chance to prove yourself! What more can you offer? You are so worthless!” I snapped back unremorsefully.
Shoving her off, sliding my hand into my pockets, my head slightly turned in a way I wouldn't have to look at her.
“From now on, I don't want to have anything to do with you or your father anymore! Not even the steele!” I ordered.
“Not even the Steele?” She scoffed, walking towards me. But I wouldn't allow her to get to me, I hastened to take a few steps forward when her last question halted me in my tracks.
“...not even Jade Steele?”
I bowed my head, my hand still in my pocket. I knew where she was getting at, and I was going to wash it in her face.
“Jade is nothing like you guys,” my words firm and very calculated.
“You never wanted her—”
“That was before I knew you were a slimy–”
“Slimy what, Silas?!” She yelled, now standing in front of me, tears rolling down her cheeks. “After everything I've done for you!”
“You did nothing you f*****g slut!” I fired back, pointing my fingers at her face. “You think I didn't know you were f*****g my friends behind me you b***h?!”
