Chapter 31

1152 Words
Jade’s POV “What do you mean there’s nothing that can be done?” I thundered across the phone, my shaky hands grabbing the phone tighter, as my life depended on it. Maybe not my life, but Aiden—well, in a nutshell, Aiden is all I have as well. So practically, he’s my life. All I’ve worked for…I’ve done everything because he's by my side. And I wouldn’t allow Silas to take him away from me. He’s my child, my baby, my boy. “What did your lawyer say?” Raina questioned, staring at me with expectant eyes. I could see the fear written on her face as well. She was terrified. Uncertain of what was to happen just like me. Questions like, what if he really wins the case in court, come popping up. “He might win against me only if Aiden steps in,” I explained, tears rolling down my cheeks. Fear rippled through me, uncertain of what to do next. What am I supposed to do if Aiden leaves? I might as well poison myself and leave this world. “What do you mean Aiden has to step in? He’s just five years old. He doesn’t have a sense of reasoning…” Raina explained, confusion etched on her face as well. “Aiden has to decide between the two of us. What if he wants to stay with his father, Raina?” I heaved a sigh, more tears rolling down my cheeks, ruining my heavy makeover, which I was supposed to use for the shoot at the premier I was invited to earlier today. “He cannot do that. It’s absurd!” Raina raised her voice in total disagreement. It was clear she always has my best interests in her heart. She shook her head in disapproval. Holding my hand, wiping off my tears, she reached out to me, hugging me tighter. Patting my back while more tears rolled down my cheeks to her shoulder, staining her white clothes. I wept so bitterly on her shoulder, responding through each of my tears. “Aiden has always wanted his father. What if he decided to pick Silas?” “Then you can always go visit him there, Jade. But c’mon, Aiden isn’t going to pick that douchebag over you.” Raina comforted me, knowing fully well that she only said those words to make me calm. Never on earth did I imagine I was going to be in this kind of situation with Silas. Is this some kind of joke? “Raina, what if I agree to get married to him again?” I questioned, wiping off my tears. “It's wrong, Jade. Don't do it. I know what he's trying to do. He's not worth you. You are a spec–and moreover, you'll have to deal with your sister Morgan. Are you ready for that prior to everything going on around you? Your revealed identity…” She was right. I cannot dare do that, even if it is just a mere trick, so he wouldn't have access to Aiden. But what about me? What if I broke my promise of not wanting to fall back into his arms? I'm so scared, and I can't allow what happened five years ago to repeat itself. No, I can't. “I'll give it my best! Silas will never have custody of my son. I won't allow it.” I spoke between gritted teeth with tears rolling down my cheeks while I held on to Raina. “You should. I'll be here too.” She spoke in whispers. ******* “Are these the documents?” I turned to Don Rosso’s personal assistant, while I watched him nod his head. A smile tugged at my lips while I extended my hand towards him. “Thank you. It's nice partnering with you,” “Sure.” He bowed signaling to the rest of the guards. “And yes, Mr. Don couldn't show up because of some things—” “It's fine. Not a problem,” I hijacked his words quickly. It wasn't as if I cared. I had entered New York to establish Ardor because of him, and that's it. “Okay then,” he bowed, turning to the rest of the guards who followed him immediately without any further ado. As soon as they were gone, a message popped up on my screen, causing me to quickly pick up my phone. Unknown: We can still try to make this work for our son. I know you still have feelings for me. I can feel it the other time. We can either talk over this or we might as well meet in court. I shut my phone, blinking multiple times as if I had just not read Silas threatening me. “Ma’am you have a visitor.” John alerted, my trembling hand suddenly stopped, my heart pounding faster than usual, and I froze. “And who is it?” I questioned, quickly finding my seat, settling in as if I had just been so tired of everything for a few seconds. “They only said they have an appointment with you.” That was all John could phantom. Right now, I'm scared of whatever it is that is coming my way. Knowing fully well that I didn't have any appointment with anyone today, I felt I should still see who it was. “Let them in,” I commanded, adjusting my makeup, staring at the mirror intently combing my hair again. “They are here,” And as the door slid open, the person standing in front of me caused me to slam my hand against the table, anger surging through me. “John, you are fired!” I lashed out, I thundered, my chest rising and falling, seeing Morgan in front of my office, still looking rude as f**k. “You don't think you can sneak your way into this country, and be left alone.” “Get out,” I started, my voice a bit shaky, but filled with so much hatred. She disgusts me. “I’m going to leave, Jade. But I'm here to let you know that it's better you divorce Silas like you want to,” she scoffed, a frown creeping up to her face. “And what if I don't?” I threw my hands across my chest, daring her even when I knew Silas was nothing but just the father of my child. “Be ready for me. Because I'll fight you with everything I have—” I stepped forward, my eyes filled with utter disdain and boldness. “Do you think…” I paused, finally raising my eyes to meet hers, watching dear dance in her pupils. “...I’m scared of you?” I laughed in amusement before finally taking a step backward. “Morgan Steele, you are playing with fire!”
