Chapter 15

Jade’s POV Just as I raised my head to meet the masculine figure who had helped me from tripping, my jaw dropped in awe. I didn't realize when the word “You” left my lips. My eyes widened in shock as I swallowed the lump in my throat. Bile rose to my throat, causing me to grip him tighter as I buried my head into his warm embrace. “Wait a minute…it's you,” the masculine figure standing in front of me finally let out a sigh. “The girl from the airport…five years ago?” He paused, grabbing my shoulders as my bodyguards came running. “It's fine,” I held them on, trying to catch my breath as I finally got the chance to look back at Silas, who now seemed to be walking out of the restaurant with one of the guards. Once again, this stranger has saved me from this catastrophe. “That was you?” He repeated, causing my gaze to flicker from Silas back to him. Gently withdrawing from him, I cleared my throat and quickly took a few steps back, stretching my hand to look much professional. I need to protect my reputation, now that I’m back in New York. I’ve been hearing whispers, and most of them do not seem like they’ve forgotten what happened five years ago. It was really chaotic out there, with every security agent searching for me. I was lost in thought when this young man gently reached for my hand, filling it with his. “You look—” “Sorry, I look how?” I stuttered, clearing my throat, trying as much as possible not to look too tense, but oh well, I had already blown that up. “You look beautifully tense,” he commented, causing me to almost lose my balance. But not again will I allow that to happen. “I tried looking for—” “Mommy, come take a look at this,” Aiden interrupted the moment, making it impossible for me to connect with this stranger once again. And as he ran in my direction, I couldn’t help but smile sheepishly back at this stranger right in front of me before looking back at my son. “He is your–” “Yes,” I answered, even before he could finish his statement. I understood what he meant. I’m sure he never believed he had carried Aiden with me five years ago when he was still in my belly. He had saved two lives without knowing it. And because of this stranger, we are both alive today. I owe him a lot. “What’s your–” “Mommy!” Aiden shot back again, his voice echoing so loudly that everyone’s attention was shifted back to us. “I’m coming, baby,” I waved back, a grin settling on my lips playfully. An awkward silence stretched between the two of us for a while before the stranger finally handed over his card to me. Letting me know that I can text or call him, as the number on his card was his w******p number. “He is so pretty, just like his mother.” He complimented while we watched, Aiden ran towards my direction, his eyes never leaving the strange man beside me. “Mommy, is this daddy?” Aiden raised a brow, his puppy eyes gazing at mine. Tears pricked my eyes, not because of the question he asked, but for the fact that my baby doesn’t have the opportunity to feel the warmth of a father. This isn’t the first time he has called a total stranger his father before. And most times, I feel overwhelmed by it. Regardless, no way on earth was I going to introduce him to Silas. It’s not happening. Not after the strings he pulled five years ago. “Hi, handsome.” The stranger smiled, crouching to his level while he pulled his cheeks gently. “You are so cute. What’s your name?” “You can call me Aiden.” He answered, biting his lips in a thin line before asking this strange man what I couldn’t do. “What’s yours?” “Oh, mine,” the stranger answered, looking back at me, a smile settling on his lips while patting Aiden’s head. “You can call me Jimin or Jaxon,” he answered. The name “Jimin” sounds like an asian name, but he doesn’t look like one. Where could he really be from? Staring at him for a while, trying to recollect now, it was clear that he really does have these small cat eyes that Asians do have. That similarity…why didn’t I notice? “So, Mr. Jimin, are you married?” Aiden started, leaving me startled and shocked at the same time. Signaling him to stop whatever it was—but he wouldn’t even listen. “No,” Jimin answered, laughing so hard while standing on his feet. “Do you have a girlfriend?” He questioned further, causing me to freeze on the spot. I stiffened, forcing a smile. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jimin—” “Call me Jaxon,” He corrected while I bowed my head quickly. “Sorry, Mr. Jaxon,” I answered, still maintaining my smile as the conversation was now getting awkward. “I’m so sorry for that. Aiden just likes to…” I stuttered, unable to come up with something reasonable. “Yeah. I understand. You do not need to feel awkward around me.” Jaxon answered, finally pointing to the card he had handed over earlier. “Get Aiden into the car, we have a concert to be at,” I commanded the guards, and without further ado, they all bowed their heads. Just as they were about to make a move, Aiden broke the silence again. Everyone stood still, his voice loud and clear, even attracting the attention of some of the people who were in the restaurant. “ Mr. Jimin or Mr. Jaxon…You know my mom is actually single, she is not married, and she doesn’t have a boyfriend…” He spoke playfully while I quickly tried to stop him from saying more words. But oh well, I was definitely too late. Aiden wouldn’t stop talking. “Aiden, that’s enough. To the car, now!” “My mom is pretty, isn’t she? How about you two get to know each other?” he proposed, leaving me surprised and dumb for a moment. “Marry my mom.” Aiden proposed, leaving me perplexed.
