“How was your last Rainbow Lunar Phase?” Tate asked.
“It was amazing, actually! I started dating my ex on the second day. I had the biggest crush on Liam and it was like he finally noticed me.”
“Did you two break up because you were starting here?”
“No, I wanted to start here because I wanted to get away from him. He broke up with me kind of out of nowhere,” I sighed. “I was heartbroken. So much that I actually thought I blew up his family’s store.”
“Did you?!” Tate asked incredulously.
“No! It was the Dark Vampiric Warlocks. Joey kind of thinks dad or Brody did it because Liam broke my heart.”
“That would be kind of sweet if they weren’t Dark Vampiric Warlocks and that wasn’t fully illegal.”
“Dad always had a strange way of showing love,” I laughed.
“What do you remember most about him?”
“He was so spontaneous! A lot like Joey actually. She is her father’s daughter. Some days we would wake up and the entire house would look different because he thought it would be fun. He used to show us his fangs and stick noodles on them to make us laugh. Before he left he was a good father.”
Tate smiled. “That sounds so nice. I’m glad you guys had such good times.”
“Yeah, sometimes I wish they outweighed all the bad and the feelings of betrayal but they don’t.” I sighed. “Anyways, how was your last Rainbow Lunar Phase?”
“This is gonna sound insane, but I started dating Raina during the last Rainbow Lunar Phase too. It was definitely a lucky thing too, because I thought Rune was going to kill me for liking his little sister. He was really happy for us though and everything felt perfect. I had my best friend and the girl of my dreams.”
“That sounds nice if you don’t know how awful Raina actually is.” I chuckled.
“I don’t know when she turned that way. I think dating the next great Highmore kind of went to her head and she just got drunk on the power of that or something.”
“Are you worried the same thing will happen with me?” I questioned.
“Sometimes. But also I’m confident that it won’t happen. I think you love me for me and that’s amazing. And I love you for you.”
“The son of Wade Highmore and the daughter of Rodney Rosaria fell in love. How insane is that?” I asked.
“Incredibly, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
I kissed him. “Me neither.”

When I first woke up, I wasn’t sure how my Rainbow Lunar Phase would be.
Then a moment later, Tate rolled over and his elbow collided with my head.
“Ouch!” I exclaimed.
“That hurt,” Tate groaned, rubbing his elbow.
“Think it hurt me more,” I pointed out as I threw the cover off of me. I went to the bathroom to make sure it didn’t leave a bruise. Of course it did.
I groaned and waved my hand, turning on the water before taking my clothes hopping in the shower. I screamed as I felt ice cold water stream down on me.
“What’s wrong?” Tate called.
“The water is f*****g freezing!” I screeched.
I shot my hand out, attempting to change the temperature. Instead the water turned into hail, raining down on me. I screamed again, this time getting out of the shower. I shivered as I wrapped a towel tightly around myself.
“Oh this is going to be just f*****g great! Three days of horrible luck!”
I got dressed quickly, trying to get more warmth.
“s**t!” Tate yelled. “I slammed my f*****g thumb.”
“Let me see-ah!” I stubbed my toe on the dresser on the way over.
I crumpled on the floor.
“Do you want help up?” Tate asked.
“No, I just know that will make things worse.”
--
When we arrived at breakfast I was grumpy beyond belief.
I hated the stupid Rainbow Lunar Phase. It was ruining my life. I looked up and saw Joey and Marsden enter the room with big smiles on their faces. Of course they were having a great Rainbow Lunar Phase.
“Zoey, there’s something on your face,” Tate stated.
“Of course there is. Can you get it off?”
He put his hands on my face as his thumbs tried to get the smudge off. Suddenly his head flew forward right into my nose. I screamed as I felt my nose break and blood start gushing from it.
“I’m so sorry!” Tate exclaimed. “Someone bumped into me!”
Joey came over and she and Chloey walked me to the Infirmary. Nurse Amy shook her head. “Oh you’re the twentieth broken nose I’ve had today. Go on a take a seat.”
I sighed and tipped my head back. I was going to hide out in my room for the next two days, I just couldn’t do this.
I was surprised when Tate entered the Infirmary, holding his wrist.
“What happened?” I asked as he sat next to me.
“Tripped and shattered my wrist.” He sighed. “I’m really sorry about your nose, babe.”
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault. It’s the stupid moon’s fault.”
“It sure is pretty though.”
I looked out of the window. It was next to the sun and it sure did look pretty. If only it wasn’t so dangerous.
--
After getting my nose fixed I went to change and attempt to shower again. It was freezing again, but at least it wasn’t hail.
My luck only got worse from there. I tripped and slipped on everything imaginable. Joey wouldn’t even come near me, afraid that my bad luck would rub off on her too. Chloey on the other hand was nowhere in sight.
She was having a good Rainbow Lunar Phase and yet she seemed so stressed about something. She was running around like crazy.
Tate and I were not doing great.
If we werent hurting ourselves, we were hurting each on accident. It was getting pretty frustrating.
“Ouch, you’re on my hair, Tate!” I exclaimed.
“Sorry, can you adjust a little? You’re really tight right now.”
“You usually like that!”
“Well it hurts right now! Can you just get wet?”
“How about you actually make me wet!” I snapped.
“What’s that mean? I always get you wet!”
“Yeah by shoving your d**k in me before I’m ready!”
“I go down on you all the time! You’re the one who seems to hate going down on me!” Tate shot back.
“Oh whatever Tate! You’re just unpleasable!”
“Wow! Fine then don’t try to please me! It wasn’t fun anyways.”
Tate got off of me and stomped into the bathroom.
Stupid Rainbow Lunar Phase.
--
I hadn’t spoken to Tate since our fight.
I stalked around the castle, mad at the whole world. I bumped into Zander.
“f**k, I’m sorry.” I sighed.
“It’s okay, I’m having a shitty week so this is just another thing.” He shrugged.
“Bad Rainbow Lunar Phase huh?” He nodded. “Yeah me too. How are things with Charleen?”
“Great actually. She of course is having a great Rainbow Lunar Phase. In fact all of my friends are. Especially Joey and Marsden.”
“Yeah, they just look so happy…I hate it.” I admitted.
“Yeah, me too.”
Suddenly I smiled. “This is the nicest conversation we’ve had since we broke up.”
“Yeah…it is huh?”
“I messed up a good thing didn’t I?”
Zander nodded. “Yeah, we were great together. But um…I think Tate is your soulmate and Charleen might be mine so…I guess we were never meant to be were we?”
“Maybe we knew that,” I smiled sadly. “Still…it was so good.”
“Especially the sex.”
“Yeah, that was great. Thanks for being my first and being so great about it.”
“It was my honor.”
Zander reached out and hugged me tightly. I sighed in content, resting my head on his chest.
“What the f**k is going on here?” Tate stomped over to us.
“We’re just hugging!” I exclaimed.
“Nothing is going on.” Zander informed him.
“Yeah right. You’ve been waiting for me to f**k up and swoop in to take Zoey away from me.”
“Um, I have a girlfriend!”
“Yeah, I did too! And I stole her from you, it’s easy!”
“Now I’m easy?” I demanded. “And steal? What am I a f*****g object?”
“No, but I’m just saying, loyalty doesn’t seem like something you care about.” Tate stated.
I was taken aback. “I’m done!”
“With what?” Tate asked.
“You! I’m breaking up with you!”
I turned and stomped away.
