Secret is Safe

Chloey's POV Magnus sighed after I told him that I revealed what was going on to Rune. “Why did you do it Chloey?” “Because I'm sick of lying to him! I love Rune more than anything and I don't want us to have secrets.” “What if he tells Tate?” Magnus asked. “I didn't think he would do that! I-I never expected him to act like that! What do we do now?” I questioned. “We make sure Rune doesn’t tell Tate or anyone else. We may even have to use a memory spell on him.” “No, I don’t want him to forget! I’d end up telling him again anyways.” “Just let me handle this, Chloey okay? There’s no need to worry, I promise things will work out.” “Okay. Are you upset with me?” I asked in a small voice. “No, I’m not. I know how you feel about Rune and that you want to tell him these kinds of things." Magnus gave me a smile. “But maybe you should be the one to tell Joey that you told Rune.” Oh great. -- I tried to talk to Rune that night, but he completely ignored me and would barely breathe in my direction. I was getting the same treatment the next day. “Are you and Rune okay?” Zoey asked. “We got in a little fight,” I sighed. “Really?” Tate asked. “About what? You and Rune don’t argue ever.” “I guess we do now. He um…didn’t talk to you about it?” “No not at all. Should I talk to him about it?” “No, that’s okay. We’ll work it out.” “Where are Joey and Marsden?” Zoey looked around. “I haven’t seen them all day.” Right, with all this mess with Rune made me forget Joey had turned last night and was now recovering. “Her and Marsden have some super romantic weekend planned.” I stated. “So you probably won’t see her at all.” “Those two have so much s*x,” Zoey whispered. “Like it’s actually kind of crazy.” “It’s better than them fighting,” I offered. “True enough. I’m never fighting with Zoey ever again.” Tate declared. I sighed. “Yeah, fighting sucks.” -- I decided to check on Joey that night. I laid on my bed and closed my eyes, putting all of my focus on Joey. “Are you there?” I asked. “Hey Chlo,” Joey’s voice sounded weak. “How are you feeling?” “I’ve never felt more pain in my life. I feel so drained.” “I’m sorry, Jo. I wish you didn’t have to do this,” I said. “I know, me too. But Marsden has been amazing. He’s taken such good care of me.” “That’s good.” “So tell me, what’s been going on? Any fun gossip I should know about?” Joey questioned. I wanted to tell her about Rune, but she didn’t feel very good and I didn’t want to stress her out when she was in that state. “Nope, it’s been pretty boring around here.” -- I hadn’t spoken to Rune in two days and I was dying by that point. I missed him so much and I just wanted to kiss and hug him again. “Just go talk to him,” Simone stated. “He’s really mad at me,” I mumbled. “What did you do?” “I just kept something kind of personal from him and now he’s upset about it.” “Sounds a bit over dramatic, honestly,” Ember admitted. “Like nothing is going to be solved if you guys don’t talk.” “I agree, but he seems not to.” I declared. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” I turned around and saw Rune approaching us. “Hey, Chloey. Can we talk?” He asked. “Um, sure…” I got up and followed him away. I knew what was coming. He was going to break up with me for sure. I couldn’t help myself. I started crying. “What’s wrong?” Rune asked. “I don’t want to break up.” “Neither do I.” I sniffed. “Really?” “I um…talked to Director Magnus and I get it now. I understand why you’re doing what you’re doing.” “And you’re not gonna tell Tate or anyone else?” “Nope. The secret is officially safe with me.” Rune replied. “And you’re not mad at me anymore?” I asked. “No babe, I am not. I’m sorry I got so angry. Do you forgive me?” I kissed him. “Of course I do.” “Okay, now if I’m going to keep this secret, I need you to do me a favor.” He said. “Anything.” “Don’t ever become a Dark Vampiric Warlock.” Joey’s POV Being a Dark Vampiric Warlock was strange. I felt both stronger and weaker. More brave, yet afraid. Better and also so much worse. Marsden and Keene had to carry me back to his room after he turned me. I was sweating and felt like I was going to throw up. I also had the chills and a fever all at once. “I’m dying,” I murmured. “No, you’re not baby,” Marsden assured me as we reached his room. He gently laid me on the bed. “You just need some rest.” “If I close my eyes I’ll never open them again.” “You’re okay,” My vision was blurred slightly as I looked around the room. I felt absolutely terrible. Marsden turned to Keene. “Thanks for helping me with all of this, man.” “Of course. I’ll check on you guys in the morning.” Keene stated. He gently touched my arm. “You’re gonna be okay, Joey. I’ll see you tomorrow okay?” “Bye Keene,” I practically slurred before closing my eyes. I heard the door close. “Alright, let’s get you ready for bed,” Marsden muttered. I felt his fingers run through my hair as he pulled it all together and up. He wrapped hair tye around my bundled hair twice. I was already feeling less hot. Marsden gently pulled my clothes off and managed to get me into one of his t-shirts. “You feeling a little better?” Marsden asked, gently touching my forehead. “I don’t know,” I admitted. “This all feels so weird.” “I know, but it’ll pass and then you’ll feel better than you ever have.” “Can you tell me a story Marsden?” “Sure, babe. There was once a very troubled guy. He came from a kind of bad family and even though he had always wanted more for his life, he knew he would still follow in their footsteps.” “Sounds sad,” I whispered. “It gets better, don't worry,” Marsden chuckled. “So this troubled guy entered the worst part of his life, but then something amazing happened. He met an angel. This angel was everything he never thought he’d have. And the crazy thing was when he fell in love with her, she fell in love right back.” “Marsden…is this about us?” “Yeah, Joey, it is.” “Is it a happy ending?” I yawned. “I sure hope so.” -- By the time Chloey checked in on me, I actually felt a little better, but still a little drained. The venom in my body was slowly settling in. The one good thing was that I was getting more rest than I had since starting at Stormine. It was also nice to spend time with Marsden, not worrying about the barrier or anything else. I almost fainted when I saw myself in the mirror. Of course I looked the same for the most part, but it was going to take some getting used to when it came to my eyes. When Monday rolled around, I actually felt amazing like Marsden said. Even behind all the concealment charms, my senses were sharper. “Hey Joey, can we talk?” “Sure, Rune.” I smiled. “What’s up?” “I wanted to see how you feel?” He asked. “Um, great actually. Why do you ask?” “Well I know you had kind of a rough weekend. I just also wanted to thank you for letting me in on the secret and all that.” “I’m sorry?” “You know the whole Dark Vampiric Warlock thing. Thanks for letting Chloey tell me about it. I promise I won’t tell anyone.” I’m gonna kill Chloey. Zoey’s POV Things with Tate had never been this amazing. Even better, graduation was right around the corner. I was so excited to start working towards my career. I was ready to feel like a real adult. Tate and I were already making a bunch of plans about moving in together. I realized my sisters and I had to have a serious talk about our future. As soon as I could get them both alone, we all sat down together. I was sensing a bit of tension between Joey and Chloey, which was strange. “Everything okay?” I asked. “It’s fine,” Joey answered. “Right Chloey?” “I want it to be,” “Then you shouldn’t have done what you did without talking to me first.” “I didn’t mean to!” Chloey insisted. “What are you guys talking about?” I questioned. “Nothing, it’s not important.” Joey huffed. “What’s the reason for this meeting?” “Graduation is coming pretty quickly,” I started. “And I guess I wanted to know your plans.” They exchanged looks. “I’m moving in with Marsden.” Joey stated. “What?” I asked. “Like with his family or just him?" “His family first and then just us.” “That’s quick,” “Well what are you going to do?” She demanded. “Move…in with Tate.” “Uh huh. Another case of you doing something with Tate and yet I can’t do it with Marsden.” “Well does Marsden have any plans for the future?” I asked. “Of course he does,” Joey said defensively. “He has a lot of plans.” “Ones that don’t revolve around marrying you?” “Don’t be catty, Zoey.” Chloey scolded. “Joey and Marsden will be fine.” I could see Joey’s face soften at her words. I knew they couldn't stay mad at each other for very long. I was kind of jealous of that. Joey could definitely stay mad at me. “What about you, Chloey?” I asked. “I think Rune and I will live together too. We need each other.” Chloey answered me, though her eyes were on Joey. Joey sighed. “I think that’s a great idea.” “So mom is gonna be all alone?” I questioned. “She’s a grown woman,” Joey laughed. “She’ll probably be happy as hell to have us all out of the house.” “Maybe we’re all moving too fast with the boys. I mean we haven’t even known them for a year.” I declared. “But I know I want to be with Rune forever.” Chloey stated. “I’m marrying Marsden, no matter what.” Joey said firmly. “Are you suddenly having second thoughts about Tate?” “No, of course not. I guess just hearing that we’re all going to be in different places is a little scary.” “Yeah, that’s true.” Chloey muttered. “But we’re growing up, Zoey. We’ll be twenty-one soon. It’s time to start our lives.” “I’m just worried they’ll be completely separate.” I whispered. “We’ll see each other all the time, Zo.” Joey said quietly. “We’re sisters and that’s never changing. Remember the vow we took?” “The one we’ve almost broken several times?” Joey laughed. “Almost being the operative word. We just stick to our vow and love each other and everything will be okay. It has to be.” “I agree,” Chloey smiled. “Nothing can break our bond. We’re even kind of learning to control the blue energy. We’ll be more in sync than ever.” I had to admit that was true. I just never pictured being away from Joey and Chloey so soon. But I realized that we really were growing up and we didn’t have to be in each other’s pockets anymore. We had boyfriends and lives and different paths. While they were separate, that didn’t have to mean that they never intertwined again. We were still the Rosaria triplets. That would never change.
