Chloey’s POV
“You want to tell Director Magus that you’re a werewolf?” I asked.
“I feel like he could help me. You know the way he helped you with the blue energy?”
“But Rune, this is a big secret. Are you sure you’re ready to tell someone else?”
“Yes, we should tell your mom too. You know so she stops worrying so much every time there’s a full moon. We should trust them, Chloey.”
“It’s your secret, so it’s your choice.” I stated. “I support you no matter what.”
“I love you,” He kissed me.
“I love you more.”
--
I kept nervously glancing at Rune.
I was waiting for him to drop the bomb. He seemed kind of anxious too.
“Um, I was hoping we could talk?” Rune asked.
“Sure, Rune, what’s on your mind? You haven’t asked Chloey to marry you, have you? I don’t think I can handle another daughter that’s engaged.” Mom answered.
“Um…I feel like there’s a lot of things we don’t talk about here.”
“Okay…like what?” Magnus asked.
“I mean we all know that Joey is a spy for us and we never talk about that.” Rune declared.
I looked at him with wide eyes. Where the heck was he going with this?
Mom cleared her throat. “I guess I wasn’t aware that you knew that.”
“Oh. Well um I do.” Rune stated. “But if that makes you uncomfortable, I can tell you something about me so we all have secrets together.”
“Sure,” Magnus was intrigued.
“I’m a werewolf. More specifically the werewolf you’ve seen at night, Molly.”
There was silence for a moment.
“Do any of my daughters have normal boyfriends?” She laughed slightly. “I mean a Dark Vampiric Warlock, the savior of the Witching Domain and now a werewolf.”
I couldn’t tell if she was upset or not.
I forced a laugh. “You weren’t mean to have normal kids, I guess.”
“No, I guess not,” She sighed. “Rune, you are a werewolf and somehow that makes you the most safe boyfriend out of the others, so I’m fine with it. Just continue to be careful please.”
“I will, Molly, I promise.” Rune smiled before turning to Magnus. “I was hoping you would help me with controlling my transformation. I want to be able to turn at any time.”
“Of course I can, Rune,” Magnus smiled. “But I’m curious, what makes you want to do that?”
“I want to visit Joey.”
Zoey’s POV
I was confused.
Why wasn’t my skin burning? Why wasn’t I in pure agony?!
I opened my eyes and looked down. Lava flowed over my body, and yet it just fet wet and cold.
I looked over at Tate who looked just as confused as I felt. He slowly leaned down and splashed his hand in the water.
“It’s not…hot?” Tate asked.
“I guess not?” I sat up. “This place is so f*****g weird!”
I stood up and walked through the lava, still I remained cold and unburned. Tate kissed me when I reached him. “I thought I lost you, Zoey.”
“Can’t get rid of me that easily.” I smiled. “Let’s hurry up and get out of here!”
We decided to just stay in the lava, considering it wasn’t dangerous. I couldn’t help but find it kind of amusing that the lava wasn’t even hot. Maybe after creating the inner demons my ancestors felt bad and wanted to make things a little easier?
When we reached the center volcano, we looked up. “I think we should use magic to get up there,” I stated.
“Brilliant as always, my love.” Tate commented.
In an instant we had emitted up to the rim of the volcano. It was bubbling up at us.
“You ready?” I asked.
“Let’s do it.” Tate grasped my hand.
Together we jumped into the volcano.
I was back at the field. Tate was with me this time. He looked around in awe.
“Zoey…Tate.” A woman similar looking to Elowen approached us. “You’ve finally come.”
“Finally? You’ve been waiting for us?”
“I have. I’m Sedona. My sisters and I hid the Ligneous Stake. “She turned to Tate. “With the help of your ancestors.”
“Wow…that’s amazing…we’re not like related or anything right?”
Sedona laughed. “Absolutely not. We did not fraternize with the Hunters. It was against the pact we made with them.”
“So what Tate and I are doing…”
“Is just fine. Destined, actually.”
“So like…who did you fraternize with?” I asked.
I didn’t need to actually know, but I was curious where I came from.
“Other wizards except for Paloma…she…well she chose the wrong man to love.” Sedona informed us.
“Sounds familiar,” I stated.
“Joey?”
“Yeah. She’s with a very dangerous man right now.”
“There’s more to it that meets the eye. Joey is not like Paloma…or I hope she’s not.”
“Why don’t I get to meet your sisters too?” I asked.
“Every time triplet witches are born they favor one of the witches who came before them. You will only see the triplets whose soul is most like yours. So you saw Elowen and you see me and next…you’ll see…well you’ll find out when you get there.”
“So Joey favors Paloma then? Was she wild and reckless?”
“Very much so.” Sedona smiled. “She still is.”
“How?”
“Time for you to go. Here is your key. Zoey…don’t make the same mistakes I did. Your sisters should mean everything to you no matter what.” Sedona stated. “There’s nothing more powerful than the love of three sisters.”
Before I could say anything else, darkness consumed us.
I opened my eyes and we were out of The Lava Oasis.
“That was intense,” Tate commented.
“Yes, yes it was.”
Joey’s POV
I think Marsden is kind of upset.
It’s like he wanted his dad to have been the one to kill Wade Highmore, just so he could have another thing to hate him for.
Now he seemed even more passionate about being involved with Dark Vampiric Warlock antics. I think mostly to spite his father. I didn’t care what his reasoning was as long as he continued to give Count Killoran a reason not to kill him.
I was more focused on the fact that my friends were coming today. I was mostly anxious to talk to Bryce. I think I believed him about being a spy.
“Why did you include Bryce in the people you wanted here?” Marsden asked.
“He’s not that bad Marsden,”
“He went after you because I liked you.”
“That’s not entirely true. My dad put him up to it.” I pointed out. “Just trust me okay?”
“I trust you with my life.” Marsden kissed me. “I have to go now. Business.”
“Alright, be careful. I love you.”
“I love you more. Plan some of the wedding huh? I wanna marry you already.”
I laughed. “Okay.”
I hoped he would be alive long enough to marry me.
--
I knocked on Bryce’s door.
“Come in!” I entered the room and put a sound proof spell on it. “Hey, Joey.”
“Hi, I was hoping we could talk…about that thing we were talking about at my ceremony.”
“Is it safe?” I nodded. “Okay, are you ready to admit it?”
“Yes, I am. I am a…spy.” I whispered.
Bryce looked relieved. “I knew it. You had me freaked out, you know? I thought I had just revealed myself to the wrong person.”
“So you’ve been on the whole time?” I asked.
“When the team was recruited, I went to Magnus immediately. I didn’t want to be one of them, but he said I didn’t really have a choice. But that I could at least do some good while I was in this, so I agreed. I haven’t talked to him in weeks though, it’s too risky.”
“I have a way to talk to him,” I offered. “Do you need to tell him anything?”
“Yeah, I do. And I guess you should know too, being a spy and all. Count Killoran is planning something drastic. Something that’s going to completely take over the Witching Domain..” Bryce breathed.
“How do you know that?” I asked
“I heard him talking to your dad about it on accident. There’s all these plans. But it has to go perfectly. He says he’s being patient and taking all the necessary step to make it work. He says it’s his secret weapon.”
Count Killoran hadn’t mentioned any kind of secret weapon. Had he been hiding something from me?
“What’s the weapon?” I asked.
“I have no idea, I was scared of getting caught.”
“I see. And did you hear how he’s going to manage to obtain this secret weapon?” I questioned.
He shook his head. “I just thought Magnus would want to know about it.”
“I’ll tell him,” I assured him.
“Joey are you in here?” Brielle asked.
I quickly took the sound proof charm off. “I am!”
She opened the door and sneered. “Bryce,”
“Brielle.” He grinned.
“Joey, um I just got finished talking to Count Killoran and he wants me to do something for you.”
“And that is?” I asked.
“Plan a birthday party for you.”
