Chapter 19
Cassandra’s POV
We cannot wait any longer. The time has come to destroy the Silver Moon pack once and for all.
Everyone Mika loves will die. I let her have her wedding day and spend time with her family. Now I am going to take them all away from her.
“Did you call in the heads?” I asked my new second in command. I have not bothered to learn his name. I don’t see why I should if by this time next week he might be dead.
“Yes, half of them should arrive tonight the rest of them will be here in the next two days.” He replied, ever so respectful. He bowed his head to me and refused to make eye contact.
He irritates me more than anything. But he is strong and knows his place. He will not go against my wishes anytime soon.
The moment that even becomes a thought will be the moment he dies.
The head vampires around the world will come to me and help kill all those pesky little wolves. Vampires might still be a small group, but we are strong, it takes three wolves just to kill one of us. With the head vampires, those who were changed by me, they are stronger and so much more powerful than the ones they changed themselves. They know that the more the change occurs by lesser vampires the weaker the vampires are. And lately I have no time or patience for the weak.
Things are about to change, and when they do the world will be a much darker place.
Mika’s POV
Kyle and I have been so happy. Who would have thought that things would have turned out this way? A few months ago I thought the worst thing that could happen would be failing my final year of high school.
Now there is so much more to worry about. No more is it only my life I have to think about; it is everyone’s. They still expect me to be some kind of miracle cure for vampirism.
I wonder if they know how ridiculous such a thought is. I haven’t gotten any powers. I have only just gotten my wolf and I seem to be getting more and more visions of the past. People I have never met and from what I can tell has no connection to keep, I see parts of their stories.
I haven’t told Kyle of the vision, because they make no sense to me, so chances are they will make no sense to him either. What I am is a woman slowly going mad because of other people’s memories.
Memories of people who lived decades, centuries and millennia ago.
Sometimes I wish I could help them, but those thoughts are foolish. There is no way for me to change the past.
The past is the past, there is no changing it. That is something that Alex keeps reminding me. That and I should start pushing myself to see if I have gained any new abilities, not that I ever really had any to begin with. We have moved on to spells, but I can’t cast a simple spell.
Jace is growing more and more powerful every day and has managed to learn a few spells. Spells need magic and since there is something akin to being part witch in us we should be able to cast spells, but I haven’t been able to. I think I might be defective or something.
Kyle seems to be happy about the fact that I have no abilities, aside from hindsight, and that I can’t cast any spells. We had a bit of a fight about it. When I told him that it didn’t matter that I have no extra abilities and that I will still be fighting in the frontlines, he lost it.
He walked out and when he returned an hour later we hashed things out with no words. When we laid in bed he held me tight and whispered in my ear.
As much as I would feel like I died if I ever lose him, for him it would be worse. Especially, now that he has found me after so many years of being alone.
I get it, I really do. Just because I love Kyle and will do just about anything for him, it doesn’t mean I would sacrifice the pack, they will not die for me, not if I can help it.
So, that brings us to this. Kyle kicking my ass every chance he gets. We train for hours on end and after the first day when he took it easy on me I made my own threats. Now he fights me like he will any other warrior under his training. I have never had so many cuts and bruises before, or this many broken ribs.
I feel guilty when Kyle sees the marks on my body and he refuses to touch me at night because he is afraid he would hurt me.
Talk about a messed up situation. I love him with all my heart and I should stop all this now. He is suffering more than I am. I can find other people to train with or something. Anything to stop the guilt and pain he feels.
He does what I ask him to do, even though it is at such a great cost to himself.
He already told me that if anyone was to mark and bruise my body the way he has, he would kill them. I know that he means that when he says that. I just don’t know what to do. Because I know that with our training sessions it is hurting him more than it is hurting me.
So that is why I am here now, asking Alex to help me. “What is it you expect me to do? Help heal you before he sees the marks on your body? Come up with a spell that would make you temporarily immortal and –” Alex was asking after I confided in him.
I stopped him with a glare.
That was definitely not what I wanted, although it would be great. I just have other ideas. That could be benefit not only me, but the pack as well.
“I want to know if we can come up with a spell or something to simulate what battle with the vampires would really be like. Something that could help train us and put us through the tests we would ultimately be facing.” I stopped talking when Alex got a look on his face that I have never seen before. A look that said this is going to be challenging as hell and might even be ridiculous, but it would be so damn fantastic if it works.
“I have been thinking about it all night, if we could maybe go into the memories of those who have been in battle and maybe even use Sarah’s gift of being able to see into the future. We could come up with what we think the battle would be like. We could use our knowledge of everything we know about vampires. That is my plan for what to use for simulating the battle.” I took a deep breath before I continued. I spoke way too fast and just felt like I needed to breathe and slow down a bit.
“Although I am not sure if you were making sense or not, I will give this little assignment a try but I am also going to have to enlist some help. Think your grandmother will be interested?” Alex asked and smiled widely at me.
I was so excited that I jumped into his open arms and hugged him tightly.
“So is this what you get up to when I’m not around?” A very dark and sexy voice asked. Damn, Kyle and his sneaking up on a person.
“We just came up with an idea that could help better the training of the pack and of me.” I replied as Alex put me down slowly, as if he was waiting for Kyle to attack or something.
“I see, so that is why you hugged him?” Kyle asked as he raised an eyebrow at me.
“No, I hugged him because if this works I get my husband back. I love you so much and I am so sorry for asking you to train me, because you seem to be suffering the brunt of it all.” I walked up to him and placed my hand on his chest.
“Have I told you that I love you lately?” Kyle asked.
I grinned and stood on the tip of my toes so that I could reach his lips with mine, “I am not sure, but I love you too.” I said and brushed my lips against his.
