The Tremble

Ian desperately needed a drink, a hard one for that sake. He ran to his favorite spot and sat, but something didn't feel right. He could feel stares all over him. "Man! Where have you been? We have missed you? Big boss was here some other day looking for you asking all these questions, you know" "What questions?", Ian asked eyebrows raised. "Like if you have been here, if anyone has seen you. And if anyone sees you they should tell him". Ian suddenly lost his taste, paid his bill and excused himself, gulping down his drink. The waiter was left in shock not knowing if he or the big boss Jackson was the cause of his exit. Home, he found her all excited, like she had worn a lottery. Lizzy seemed all high as she flew to him in a hug. "Guess who got a job?", She asked blushing his lips with a slight kiss."This one, in front of you, hello". This was not good! "Where?" He asked lowly. "Whats up? I want to be out not indoors all day. C'mon, be happy for me atleast. I knocked on all doors today searching for one. Then this supermarket gave me a chance. Was thinking, since they have shifts, I should take evening classes......" Ian could not hear her mumbles as she went on about how it was huge, clean not dusty as the ones from her village. All his thoughts were on the exposure Lizzy would get ther. Or was she better off there? Surrounded by her workers and security? "Okey!" He ran upstairs ignoring her excitement and run to the bathroom. All he desired was to wash away all his worries burdening him, but this cold water did not do justice. "What wrong did I say now" Lizzy wondered loud. "Are we already having those couple moments. You know where one gets mad at each other for nothing. She almost ran after him when the doorbell rang. Her heart stopped! Her excitement died down! Were they here, her parents? Had they sent the police to drag her back home? Did her text mean anything? Breathing in then out she knew she had to face this in one way or another. "You have a visitor!' she said to him, lying sprawled on the bed like he was done with this world. He sprang up scared and Lizzy thought he was also expecting her parents. His face, a mixture of fury and worry, scared her. Ian, on the other hand, thought otherwise. Celine kept her word and she was here, Or did Jackson decide to pay the courtesy? Either way, after entertaining them here, they will pay. He would strangle any that dared to disrespect him or her. What if she already told Lizzy about them? No! She was looking calm and not crazily angry. Ian could not bring himself to think of the things he and Celly had done. Those were dark things that only one with a name could think of. Though mind-blowing, they were not a life he desired to go back to, no matter how testing and tempting they were. "Stay here, it will only be a minute", he said His stairs were longer than he had thought until he saw him. Almost flying down he ran to him and stood there face to face. "Oh my! Look at you all calm", he shouted, hugging him and feeling all his blood that had frozen down. "Nick my guy! Man this is a surprise". "Get away from me, you badass. You run and left me to carry your cross while you busy here enjoying life with that pretty? Maan everyone blames me". "Am sorry my friend, I did not think she would turn up with bags, when she did I could not turn her down. It was all I wanted but now its a mess." "What's up?" Nick asked, concerned. "Things are bad with Jackson and Celly. They are threatening me by using her. I can't risk her sacrifice for us for nothing." "So?" Nick shocked as hell, implored. "Heey!" Lizzy greeted him hoping he hadn't brought her parents with him. "Are you alone at least?" She joked "Yes, and made sure no one was following me." He answered laughing loud. "You are a funny one I guess, its one of the things he fell for." Ian brushed Lizzy's shoulders hoping she didn't catch any of their conversation. "Hope so too!" "We have water, juice and beer, whatever between those three suits you before dinner? Please tell me you are sleeping over?" "I can't, am running some business with a client tonight, its the only time he will be available! Thank you though, I will have a beer, a cold one." "Wifey?," Nick teased Ian as she went to the kitchen. "Wifey!" Ian replied as they sat laughing it loud. "So," Ian uncomfortably shifting on the sofa asked, "her parents, what's the say back there?" "They breathe fire with every mention of her," Lizzy eavesdropping from the kitchen, heard this,"the mother has declared her daughter is a grown up, though I think she is comforting herself from the crowd. Her father is always angry and spiteful to anyone who dares to mention her name." Lizzy hiding her grief, and Ian wondering if she heard even their other conversation, "that is why I have decided am taking evening classes. This will comfort them and elevate me to their expectations." Nick could not agree more with her and felt she was a wise woman with great mind. Lizzy staggered back tothe kitchen to hide her tears from them. Deep down she assured herself that she had not failed her parents. She just made a personal decision but she would curve it away from anyone's expectations. She served them mashed potatoes with honey fried pork that had corriader garnish. All this she read from a magazine she had picked at the stores full of recipes and women lifestyles. But what she needed more was the page that fully and unashamedly described the 'modern woman' and another 'how to keep your man'. "So what about the villagers, what are they saying?" She really didn't care but she wanted him to say it so that she could keep it in her head and remember every time she was , becoming.
