*Back at the pack house*
“don’t act like you care about Liv you have been nothing but cruel to her!” Axel shouted. “Well, I do care about Olivia, and she will be my Luna” Lucas crossed his arms over his chest. “I love her I have always loved her you can have any other wolf girl in the pack land why do you want her?” Axel asked. “Because I love her too” Lucas said simply.
“Chasing her around the house in your wolf form is love? Cutting her hair when she wasn’t looking is love? Watching her struggle to come up for air in the pool when you know she isn’t a strong swimmer is love?” Axel was starting to get angry. “I was helping her Axel!” Lucas growled.
“Helping? That is helping? You are sick!” Axel went to walk away. “She wants to leave when she graduates. She wants to leave the pack lands and never come back. If she does leave, we won’t be there to save her if a wolf starts chasing her. Of if she gets her hair stuck somewhere and must cut it. Or if she falls in a lake. She must help herself.” Lucas spoke. “Well, aren’t you the selfless alpha” Axel said in a mocking tone.
“Axel I am trying to keep her safe” Lucas pleaded with his younger brother. “Then let me choose her as my mate” Axel countered. “I’m the alpha she can’t reject me.” Lucas said matter-of-factly. “Future Alpha you aren’t the Alpha yet, and what makes you think she will reject me?” Axel asked his brother.
“She wants to leave she wants to be free” Lucas said and placed his hand on his brother’s shoulders. “Then I’ll go with her” Axel shrugged his brother’s hands off him. “You can’t do that! You must have a pack. Lone wolves get hunted!” Lucas roared, shaking the pack house, his eyes turning black.
“Don’t act like you care about me!” Axel roared back his eyes turning black as well. Then the current Alpha Rafael and his Luna Ruby came downstairs. “Enough!” roared Alpha Rafael. Both boys covered their ears as well as Luna Ruby.
*A little while later*
After school I waited outside the school on the steps usually, I would just walk or catch a ride with lacy or stay until football practice was over and Christian would drop me off. But Axel said he would be here. So, I will wait, I wasn’t waiting long when the familiar BMW pulled up not a moment too soon as a pack off catty cheerleaders were headed my way.
Lucas got out of the car and opened the passenger side door for me. I bolted in not saying a word to him, he shut the door and the cheerleaders came over to talk to Lucas. I felt a pang of jealousy in my chest. “You have a good day Liv?” Axel’s voice broke the silence in the car. “Um yea it was a fine day” I said and looked at my hands. Lucas got in the car leaving the very disappointed looking cheerleaders in his dust.
“Why does your hair smell like that?” Axel asked. “Like what?” I asked confused. “It smells like” Axel smelled my hair. “Like another guy” Lucas said through gritted teeth. “Oh, it is probably Christian he fixed my hair for me this morning since it was falling down.” I said I didn’t think it was a big deal but the silence that followed made me think differently.
“Christian? Christian Wild?” Axel asked me and I nodded in response. “he’s an alpha, isn’t he?” Axel asked. Before I could answer Lucas did it for me. “Future Alpha of sun and moon pack” he spoke he seemed mad, so I just stayed quiet.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Axel asked. I was going to say no but Lucas scoffed “of course not.” He answered me. “Oh, cause the idea of dating me is so terrible no wolf would dare?!” I crossed my arms over my chest, it was my turn to be upset. “Liv that’s not what he meant we don’t think that.” Axel tried to calm me down.
“Olivia I just meant that we would have known if you were dating another Alpha” Lucas spoke and put his hand on my knee. I just ignored it and rolled my eyes and looked out the window. “Future Alpha” corrected Axel. Earning a glare from Lucas. “Do you like him?” Axel asked. “Am I allowed to answer that one?” I asked in a sarcastic tone. Lucas nodded, “yes I like him, but not the way you think he is one of my best friends he likes Lacy always has” I spoke, and I could see the relief in both their faces.
“And I’m not going to stop hanging out with him just because you guys are jealous” I spoke and sighed. “Liv we wouldn’t ask you to do that.” Axel said “I would” grumbled Lucas. “But he won’t” added Axel.
Lucas drove us back to the pack house I stayed quiet the rest of the time. Once he parked, I got out of the car leaving behind my backpack. I didn’t wait for Lucas or Axel even though they were shouting at me to wait.
I went to my room and shut the door. I groaned and flopped down on my bed. Only to sit up when Lucas walked into my room “heard of knocking?” I spoke annoyed. “It’s my house” he said and held up my backpack “you forgot this” he spoke. “Thanks now get out.” I spoke and rolled over and laid down facing the wall.
“Come on little Luna” he cooed and sat my bag on the floor I closed my eyes, and he crawled in behind me. He snaked his arms around my waist. “Lucas don’t” I spoke softly. “don’t what little Luna?” Lucas whispered in my ear. “Stop just stop! Calling me that I’m not your Luna!” I finally snapped.
“No not yet. But you will be.” Lucas spoke and I sat up and pulled away from him. “You don’t get to make that decision! You haven’t even asked me what I want!” I shouted at him, and Lucas pulled back from me and part of me felt bad. “Lucas do you even care what I want?” I asked.
“Luna of course I care baby girl” Lucas cupped my face and I flinched. He looked at me “you are scared of me” he whispered as though he was telling himself. “I deserve that I know I do. I haven’t exactly been the nicest to you. I’m sorry for that. I should have been nicer to you.” Lucas spoke as I looked at him.
