#1 The Curse (Part 3)

It was just another day of school when she got home from cheer practice. The moment Skylar set foot at home, she felt a little overwhelmed and decided to head out to sing to herself. Little did she know that both Cody and Tyler were already under Sapphire’s possession and she was only a few steps from harm's wait. She sat on a rock by the seashore and sang to herself. She didn’t know that her singing was so powerful that it could just so easily make the two boys bow at her feet.  She was still looking out to the sea when Cody whispered into her ear, “What are you doing?” But a few minutes after she stopped singing the siren’s trace on them faded and they were about to attack her. She remembered the dreadful day she had already had before closing her eyes hoping that they would hurt her. At that very moment, she felt the air starting to speed up like she was taken up to the sky. She opened her eyes, stunned to see an angelic being with wings. She tried to put together who it was, and when she realized who it was, she let out a gasp, “Carson?” His head looked down towards her and he continued to hover in the air. Skylar was astonished that Carson was some sort of angel. Her jaw hung wide open. “I know this might seem like a surprise to you but fret not, I had these wings way before I had met you. So as of now, I need you to keep all this a secret.”, said Carson. “Where are you taking me?” Skylar was more afraid than ever. Though she trusted Carson but, she never depicted him as an angel of such other than once in her dream. She looked down and grabbed on tighter to Carson because they were miles away from the ground.  “Don’t worry. I wouldn’t let you fall and I am just taking you somewhere where you’ll be safe from the lights of Cody and Tyler.” “What happened to them? They looked like they had been possessed all day.”, Skylar added.  “That’s what I’ve been asking myself.” He continued to fly towards the direction of the Gomez’s mansion. Once they'd gotten to the place, Carson flew in through the window hoping that no one heard them flying in. “Alright. You should be safe here.” She thanked before asking him, “Is anyone home?” because he was apparently scared that someone had heard them coming in. Carson nodded his head and continued to tell her, “I think you should wash up first. I just need to go and find something. The shower is that way.” Though she didn’t have any spare clothes on her, she knew that there was needn’t worry as Carson should have something for her to get changed into.  Carson left the room to go and look for his siblings who were just about to wake up. Once he had tip-toed his way into the twins’ room, he realized that Chloe had already gotten up and her sheets were already covering nothing but the bed itself. “Shit.”, he said under his breath. He continued to tip-toe his way into his closet to find Skylar some spare clothes to change into.  Skylar stepped out of the shower in a towel and another smaller towel wrapping her hair in a turban-like-shape. The moment she got out, she realized a little girl sitting at the corner of Carson’s bed.  Chloe got up slowly and walked up to her like she was an alien. Skylar kept quiet as she circled her. Before Skylar said anything, Chloe started shooting her with questions, “Who are you?” She glared at Skylar.  Before Chloe went too far, Carson came in to save the day once again, “Chloe!” He passed Skylar the hoodie and shorts so she could change into. Skylar marched back into the bathroom to get changed while Carson still stood there with arms folded over his chest, eyeing on the little girl. Though Carson was towering about two feet above her, she was still somewhat like a princess ruling over a whole kingdom. “What were you thinking?” He continued to get down to her level.  “It’s not everyday you bring a girl uninvited. Who is she?” Chloe glared over at the bathroom door waiting for Skylar to come out. She behaved like a guard dog especially when Carson brought a girl home, which was very rare.  “Well, it is complicated.” He continued to bring her to his bed and sat down. “You needn’t worry, she isn’t like the rest of the girls I’ve brought home.” He tried reasoning with her but she was difficult to handle. “Answer my question - Who is she?”, Chloe demanded in a jealous tone.  “She’s my girlfriend. Jeez, why are you so loud?” “Next time answer my question before I get annoyed.” Carson ignored her when he caught sight of Skylar walking out of the bathroom in his obviously oversized hoodie. Her hair was as smooth as silk, her collarbone was slightly showing as the hoodie was too big on her. Chloe got even more annoyed and stomped out of the room.  Chloe had always gotten the most attention in comparison to her brother but this time, Skylar was always stealing her spotlight - Her rightful spot as the princess in the family.  Chloe had despised her the moment she had set foot in their place. The way Chloe looked at Carson was the way people had a crush on that person. Could she be jealous of the fling that Carson and I have? She asked herself. She sat up to see that Carson was already gone. Great, now the big bro decides to walk into the lion’s den. She got up to look around the house for Carson. Instead, she bumped into Chloe - the overprotective sister - she tried to ignore her and continue walking but she immediately stopped her. That was when Chloe couldn’t tolerate it anymore and she just blurted it out. “What do you have that I don’t? Why does Carson give you all his attention?” “Chloe, what are you implying?” Skylar gave her a puzzled look. “Are you-” “Yes, I am jealous. He would usually give me all his attention until you showed up and since the moment you set foot in this place, all you’ve been doing is keeping Carson away from me.” Chloe admitted reluctantly. Skylar didn’t know what to say, she was also in a similar situation as Chloe once though it was a complicated relationship, she knew that it was wrong. Maybe I’ve got it the wrong way, she is just a child after all, she thought to herself. “There is no need for all this commotion-” “No! You came to this household uninvited and now you want to tear this family apart? Gosh, how selfish can you be? Even my parents like you more than me right now.” Skylar did not see how she was any way at fault in this situation.  “Chloe!” A familiar voice came down the halls. It was Jonas. “Skylar is Carson’s girlfriend. Can’t you find it in your heart to accept that? You think that just because you’re the youngest, Carson would continue giving attention to you? Grow up! There are things that you should learn to accept in life.” Skylar’s eyes widened that Jonas dared to say that to Chloe. He had mostly kept quiet and she hadn’t really expected him to defend her. Skylar didn’t really have a say in this situation because she barely knew Chloe. “Why are you defending her?”, Chloe exclaimed. “She isn’t at fault here. You are just overreacting like always. You can’t always keep a grudge on every girl that is dating. Sooner or later, you’ll have to accept the fact that he is never going to look at you the way he looks at his girlfriends.” “Shut up!” Chloe threw her arms up as she sat down. “You think you know exactly what I am thinking but the truth is that I am tired of Carson bringing a girl home without telling us about it. Don’t you feel the same?” “No. Carson's a full grown teen and he has the right to love whosoever he likes and he shouldn’t have to tell us - his younger siblings - anything.”  Skylar felt that she shouldn’t be there but yet again she should just in case that the two of them end up getting in a fight. Carson came in and stood beside Skylar quietly, watching as the two of them argued without realizing that he was in the room. “I had never seen this side of Chloe before. Should we stop them?”, Carson asked Skylar while still looking at them.  “Don’t ask me. You’re the eldest here. I have no right to stop them either. Is it often that they get into these sorts of arguments?” “Only when mom and dad aren’t home. - So what are they arguing about?” He didn’t need Skylar to reply. Once he heard his name he immediately knew what it was about. “Alright. Alright. That’s enough.” “Carson? Why didn’t I realize that you were in the room? - Listening to our argument...” Chloe glared over at Jonas. Chloe flustered and started fixing her hair which was obviously a total mess. “How much of the conversation did you hear?” She blushed. It was like the moment she looked into Carson’s eyes, it had some effect on her, making her calm. Skylar thought she was in a toxic relationship with Cody but was totally off the charts of the sibling relationship. “Enough to know that you are in a really tight spot right now.” He led her out of the room while winking at Jonas like some kind of sign that he should back down.  “I’m sorry for the way that my sister reacted. She can be a little overprotective at times because-” “She’s got a crush on Carson, I’ve noticed.”, Skylar said before he could finish. Jonas let out a disgraced nod. “So how long had she had this little crush on him and does Carson know?” “She tried confessing it to him but I managed to talk her out of it before. But I think that Carson is clueless about it. She had already let out so many signs and because he thought it was just sibling love like me and Chloe, he just let it slip. And as for every other girl that Carson had brought home, she mostly felt her heart getting heavier. And because our family upholds the rights of angels from Heaven, there is something you should know.” Jonas walked past her bringing her to the library. He pulled a book out of the shelf - it looked like an ancient book filled with pages of the history of angels - and flipped to the page about their past. Jonas passed the book to Skylar and upon seeing the pictures, she was already shocked. “What is this?” “It is one of the forbidden books. I have no idea how we have it but there have only been three copies of this book and they’re scattered across the realms. This book could update itself when there’s been another member of the family added.” He helped Skylar to turn to the page where Carson was.  “I thought that-”, she was about to reveal to him that Carson wasn’t his biological brother but she immediately refrain herself from saying it because Carson specifically told her to not tell any of them. She quickly thought of a way to rephrase what she was about to say. “Nevermind. What I really want to know is how Chloe seems more clingy to Carson than she is to you? I mean like, aren’t you guys twins?” “Yeah. However because since we were born, Carson was already there, Chloe is somehow always more attached to him.”  Skylar looked down at the book, flipping through more of the pages. “Why is my family also here? What is this book anyways?” “I also have no idea about that. All I know is that I’m not even supposed to reveal all this to you but since you’re by far Carson’s most trustworthy girlfriend, you deserve to know the truth.” Skylar was still looking through the pages of the book. It was like the book had her under some kind of trance. “You spoke about realms - what are those realms? I get that there is one in Hell, another in the human world, and what happened to the last copy?” “How do you know that there is a copy in Hell? How do you even know about Hell - Don’t tell me that you’re a demon...” His voice seemed to trail off. Skylar denied what Jonas said, though she knew that she had demon blood flowing through her veins, she knew for a fact that she wasn’t a demon.
