“Rose.” Todd smiled as he walked into Jordan's room. Rose looked up and smiled in return.
“Anything?” He asked.
Rose sighed and shook her head. “I have to be honest Todd; I am wondering if it wont just be easier to turn him. He has suffered so many bites, I don’t know how much more his system can take.”
“I’ve been thinking about this.” Todd began. “We have two options that I can see. We either inject him with mine, Liam’s or Lachlan’s blood as we are all descended from the original werewolf. Or, we inject him with Bastian’s blood.”
“I would prefer we try werewolf first, as would his parents. I would only suggest Bastian’s as a last resort and me turning him only after that.
Todd nodded. “Rose, you are his mate, and this is your decision. I will speak to Liam and Lachlan.”
“Thank you, Todd. How is Liam?” Rose asked.
“Better. He went for a run today and is back with Sabrina now.” Todd smiled.
“He damn near broke her heart when he chose you over her.” Rose replied.
“Rose, he didn’t choose me over her. It wasn’t his Alpha over his mate. It was familiar over the unknown. He was covered in sores and mites and the Goddess only knows what else. He chose me because he needed someone so familiar to him that he knew wouldn’t turn away or cry or get upset. He hated himself, he was repulsed by his own condition. We both know Sabrina would have nursed him through every bit of it, but he just didn’t want her to see him that way. His wolf has returned to him and brought some confidence with him.” Todd ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
“I understand that Todd I do. It still must have been devastating for her.” Rose reasoned.
“It’s been devastating for all of us. Lachlan and Miranda have still not had a chance to sit down with him. Rose, I had to carry him, I had to bathe him. I had to watch one of the strongest people I know cower and cry. Trust me, no one will get out of this unscathed.” Todd sighed. “I acknowledge what you are saying though Rose. Please know, I tried everything to get him to see Sabrina. I wasn’t going to force it but spending time with her will help him heal.”
Rose nodded. “Eva will pay for this.” She hissed.
“I will see to it personally that either you or Jordan end her personally Rose, I promise you that.” Todd replied.
“Thankyou.” Rose smiled.
“Now what are you thinking? Do you want to try our blood?” Todd asked.
“Yes, I think that’s the best place to start.” Rose replied.
Todd and Lachlan walked through the portal into the pack house. Todd stopped and opened a mind link with Liam.
“Sorry brother but we need to talk.” He said as they walked out the front door. They walked across the driveway to Liam and Sabrina’s house and knocked on the door.
Sabrina answered the door, anger emanating from her body. “You couldn’t give us 24 hours?” She asked bitterly.
Todd and Lachlan were taken aback by her demeanour.
“Sabrina, I truly am sorry, and this is not something we would be doing if we felt we had a choice.” Todd began as Sabrina slammed the door in his face.
Lachlan took a step back and looked at Todd. “We felt she was angry at you for not getting Liam out sooner, but she goes to far now Todd.”
“She’s hurting Lachlan, we need to give her time.” Todd sighed.
Liam came to the door and stepped outside, closing it behind him.
“Todd, I’m so sorry. She’s pretty angry.” Liam began.
“Brother, its nothing. I respect Sabrina and I am not going to hold this against her.” Todd smiled. “Just quickly, are you happy to donate some blood for Jordan?”
“Of course, I am, anything he needs.” Liam replied. “How is he?”
“The same.” Todd shrugged.
“We believe our blood could help, being that we all carry the bloodline of the original werewolf.” Lachlan said.
Liam looked at his father for the first time. He moved towards him and embraced him. “I’m sorry I haven’t said it but thank you. Hearing you howl kept our hopes alive.” He sobbed quietly. Lachlan held his son for the first time ever and cried.
“Son, I am so sorry it took so long. We tried; I promise you no one ever gave up.” Lachlan sobbed.
“I know Dad.” Liam mumbled.
They stepped apart and Liam looked at Todd. “When are we doing this?” Liam asked.
“When Sabrina is ready to part with you.” Todd smiled. He and Lachlan turned and walked down the path. As they reached the footpath Lachlan turned to watch Liam walk inside. His heart was full.
“What did they want?” Sabrina hissed.
Liam sighed. “Sabrina, why are you so angry?” Liam asked.
“Because they let you sit in a cell to rot for two damn years Liam. How can you still be blindly loyal to them?” Sabrina replied angrily.
“Please don’t do this Sabrina. I don’t blame anyone and to be honest, I don’t know what makes you think you have a right to blame them. It wasn’t you in the cell, it was me.” Liam sighed.
“Do you think it didn’t affect me? Losing my mate, not knowing if he was dead or alive?”
“Do you really think it didn’t affect me? Lachlan and Miranda? Todd, Will and James? These people are my family, it affected them too!” Liam was getting angry. He knew Sabrina was hurting but she was refusing to acknowledge anyone else could be hurting too.
“Todd refused to let me see you!” Sabrina cried.
“I refused to let you see me! It wasn’t Todd, it was me! And I am so grateful I did now. Do you know what Todd did for me? He washed the mites and bugs from my hair and skin, he carried me everywhere for days. He scrubbed the bath every time I bathed to get rid of dead skin and mites, he changed bedding. He carried me to the damn toilet for goodness sake. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t even clean myself. I needed Todd. You need to get over it Sabrina.” Liam had had enough. He stormed out the door and into the pack house. The portal was still open, and he walked through into the Fae castle.
Liam let himself into Jordan's room where Todd, Lachlan and Rose sat around the bed. Liam noticed Jordan's head had also been shaved.
“Liam.” Rose smiled as she reached out to squeeze his hand. “How are you feeling?”
“Hi Rose, I’m not to bad. I’m here to help if I can.” Liam smiled.
“I really appreciate you taking the time Liam and all the support from you guys. I couldn’t have done it without you all.”
Liam smiled, his eyes becoming moist. Why couldn’t Sabrina be like this? Why has she argued non stop since he returned?
“Are we moving him through to the medical centre?” Todd asked.
“Can he be guarded there? I’m so worried Eva will come looking for him.” Rose said wringing her hands.
“If it were you against Eva I wouldn’t like her chances.” Todd smiled.
“But I am happy to put some wolves on the medical centre if needed.” Lachlan replied, “And I’d be shocked if George didn’t want to help too.”
“I’ll call George now, so they know what’s happening. They may want to be there for the procedure.” Todd said taking his phone out of his pocket and walking through the portal to make the call.
As he was finishing the call Liam and Lachlan walked through with Jordan on a stretcher between them. Rose was walking alongside holding Jordans hand. They walked straight for the door and Todd rushed forward to open it.
Wolves came out of the homes, their heads hung to show their respect to Jordan. He had come such a long way in the twelve months they had known him prior to he and Liam being held prisoner. They wanted to see him home and running his pack again.
They walked Jordan into the Medical centre and placed the stretcher on a bed. Dr Michaels came out and smiled as he looked Jordan over.
“He seems stable, there’s no signs of deterioration. Who is giving him their blood?” The Doctor asked.
“Doc, can he take some from each of us?” Liam asked.
“We are all one family. I have half human blood, Liam has half faerie blood and Lachlan’s mother apparently had powers. We thought those extra qualities might help?” Todd added.
“Interesting. The first thig we must do is make sure your blood wont clash all together. Can I take a vial from each of you now? We will start with combining all three, if they react badly, we ca try different combinations. If that doesn’t work, we can try one a week or one a month until our friend is back with us.” The Doctor smiled, pointing toward a room where he could take their blood.
“Liam, how are you feeling now?” The Doctor asked as he drew blood from Liam’s arm.
“A lot better Doc, Kai has returned, and I am eating better.” Liam smiled.
“Lachlan.” The doctor smiled as Lachlan rolled up his sleeve. “Have I heard right; you are Liam’s father?” The doctor asked as he took Lachlan’s blood.
“Indeed, I am Doc and proudly so.” He smiled at Liam who smiled back.
“Alpha, how have you been?” He asked Todd as he withdrew his blood.
“Doing ok Doc.” Todd smiled.
“Good, good. Give me maybe an hour and I will get back to you with the results.” The doctor said, walking out of the room with the three vials. One of the additions that had been made was a laboratory for doing tests in house. Some of the werewolves from the other world had committed to studying various medical sciences and two would come to work here full time when they had completed their studies. At the same time, they had students studying veterinary care, just to cover all the bases.
“We have an hour to kill, maybe you might like to sneak over and see your wife.” Todd winked.
“I’m good.” Liam said taking a seat.
Rose looked up at Liam and then Todd.
“What’s going on Liam?” Todd asked.
“It’s nothing.” Liam shrugged.
“It’s not nothing Liam. Talk to us.” Todd prodded.
Liam sighed. “She blames you for not coming to get me earlier. She thinks if my heritage had been known we would have been out much earlier.”
Todd looked like he had been kicked in the stomach.
“Liam, your heritage was irrelevant. You are everything to me and to this pack. You have to believe your standing in the pack had nothing to do with it.” Todd’s eyes were pleading with Liam to acknowledge his truth.
“Brother, I never doubted it, ever.” Liam smiled.
“Sabrina spoke of this before the rescue.” Lachlan said quietly, his head down. “We thought it was just the pain of losing Liam, but she was angry.”
“The reality is if anyone had the power to rescue Liam it was her. Not to say she wouldn’t have in a heartbeat but she had the ability to portal. We didn’t because we simply didn’t know where to portal to. All Todd could have done is marched an army to the force field. He couldn’t have got past that, none of us could have.” Rose added.
“And you were dealing with your own injury.” Lachlan said quietly.
“What injury?” Liam asked, looking at Todd.
“It’s nothing.” Todd shrugged.
“It’s not nothing. You know how powerful Sergio’s lightening is?” Rose asked.
“I’ve been hit by it.” Liam nodded.
“So was Todd. It affected his heart.” Rose told Liam.
Liam turned and looked at Todd. “So, when Eva told us you were dead, she actually thought you were?”
“I guess so.” Todd shrugged.
“How are you now?” Liam asked.
“Let’s just say, I’m not looking to get hit again.” Todd winked.
“And you were carrying me?” Liam asked.
“Of course, I was. I’m ok day to day, I can still pass my medicals at work. I just need to be careful I guess.” Todd replied.
Doctor Michaels was rushing up the hallway as they spoke. “This is amazing!” He cried as he walked in the room and closed the door.
“I put all three of your bloods together. Now normally there would be some kind of reaction, cell separation, something. They bonded! It became like one blood. So, we added Jordan's to be sure. Your blood bonded to Jordan's blood and began to change its structure.” The Doctor explained excitedly.
“So, our blood will fix Jordan's?” Todd asked.
“YES!” The Doctor exclaimed. He was more animated than anyone had ever seen him.
“So when do we do this?” Liam asked.
“I would suggest immediately.” The Doctor answered.
