"Army On The Move!"

1315 Words
In the two years since they had been taken in, the “Young Vampires”, as they were still known, had been busy. Jay and Macey had collaborated with Heath to build them underground quarters. This gave them the opportunity to move freely during the day. Their bodies had not really adapted to sleep all day and hunt at night but underground they could still work with the werewolves without them having to stay awake. It also kept them safe from vampire attacks. They were now hunted by the vampires who killed them out of spite. They had included a gym and training rooms. The young vampires had the same speed and strength as others, they just liked to work out and the werewolves had been happy to accommodate that. They all trained on the same regime as the werewolves at 2 x 2hours a day. They had every intention of being part of the fight when the others re took the castle. They had been working on a network throughout the world for young vampires like themselves who did not wish to join Hadley’s army. They had taken up the task of tracking missing persons world wide and now boasted an extensive network of police, private investigators and missing persons units. They were reaching out via a network of websites and tracking what they had called ‘Flare Ups’. When missing persons reports hit 100 in a month they sent out private investigators that were linked with the Hunters to investigate and reach out to newly turned vampires. After two years their Hunters and private investigators numbered in the thousands. Some of the young vampires had joined the network and were now helping others. Jay was sitting in front of his computer monitor when a facetime call came through. “Jay, brother, the vampires are about to march. We don’t know where, they are staying tight lipped on the location. Everybody has been forced to join the march. The Generals and Eva know many of them wont fight but I think they want them for the fear factor.” “They’re going for Bastian.” Jay whispered. “Macey, warn the Alphas. The vampires are on the march!” Macey picked up her phone and dialled Todd’s number. He answered on the second ring. “Macey, what’s up?” Todd asked. “We’ve just received word; the vampires are on the march.” Macey replied. “Bastian?” Todd asked. “We have no idea. I’m sorry.” She replied. “Have they left?” Todd asked. “Again, we only have the limited information one of our spies was able to relay. Apparently the Generals and Eva aren’t giving any information, just marshalling the vampires into an army. I’m sorry.” Macey cried, upset that they couldn’t help more. “Don’t be, what you guys do is amazing. Thankyou.” Todd replied as he hung up. He immediately mind linked Amelia. “The vampires are on the march. You need to put the defensive plans into action. I am sending through troops. Be careful my love. I will be there soon.” It was only after he had broken the link that Todd realised he hadn’t spent more than 5 minutes with Amelia in almost a week. He resolved to fix that after this was over. There were so many people filling so many roles now that Todd could slip away for a couple of days with Amelia. They had a full relief team of trained werewolf firefighters now that could spring into action at any time. Todd was in the process of registering and seeking funding for the Village to have its own fire house now that the population had grown. They had offered to also take care of the forest they owned beyond the Village. It was currently being pushed through council. Todd didn’t have time to dwell. He ran to the pack house and used the siren to alert everyone to muster. This was a system suggested by Heath and Nova. The siren could also be heard at the Village, although they would sound their own siren as well. Muster point was in the clearing in the forest which was a half way point between the two communities. Everyone had come out onto the street to deliver their children to the houses with safe rooms and carers and make their way down to the muster point. Todd noticed Sabrina watching him. He knew she was still really angry at him but he didn’t have time to address that. Will and James roared past in the trucks they kept locked in sheds near the pack house. They held weapons for those who chose to fight in human form and the vampires. James stopped as he noticed Todd and Todd jumped in. When they reached the meeting place there were already portals ready. Esmeralda had opened two very large ones. Todd stood on a log to get everyone’s attention. “Everybody listen up. We have received news that the Fae Castle is about to be attacked. We have no time to lose. Remember what you have been taught, watch each other’s backs and always, and I mean ALWAYS look for the white strips of material. You are all amazing warriors. Let’s go kick some ass!” Todd jumped down and ran into the portal. He stayed in human form so he could speak to Robert when he arrived at the castle. Many others had already stripped and shifted. As they arrived, they found warriors from the Fae, Elven and Dwarven realms, standing in lines in the marshalling yard, watching the skies. “We expected to walk into a fight, what’s happening?” Todd asked. “We don’t know, maybe the information was incorrect?” Robert shrugged. “If nothing else, it was good practise for us.” Todd grinned. “How did we do?” he asked. “Meh, could work on your timing.” Robert winked. Some of the wolves had ventured out past the gates to make sure the vampires weren’t hiding in the tree’s. “Hiding doesn’t make sense if it was a show of force.” Todd muttered. “What are we missing?” Lachlan came bounding through the crowd, shifting as he neared Todd and Robert. “I have heard from Rohan, they definitely marched. My pack are picking off the tail, moving the young ones to a safe camp and killing those who have gone to fight. Rohan did mention that some of the vampires said they were sure Bastian was the target, but one said he overheard them mention Isabella.” “I’m an i***t!” Todd growled in anger. “What is it?” Robert asked. “As we ran through the portal I glanced back and it seemed like Whitney and Eva were talking. I didn’t think anything of it but now I’m wondering if they struck a deal to have Isabella freed.” Todd replied. “Why would Whitney do that?” Lachlan asked. “We believe the soul that inhabits Whitney’s body is Isabella and Mirandas mother Francesca.” Todd was wildly looking around. “Where are our magical folk? We need portals!” He roared. Lachlan stood there staring at Todd. “Are you saying Mirandas mother has been living with us and Miranda, the empath, didn’t feel it? Todd, listen to yourself.” Todd grabbed a dwarven warrior. “You man, where is your king?” “He is at the front Sir with King Ailwyn.” The warrior replied. “Get him man, now!” Todd snapped. Minutes later Jaime and Ailwyn appeared. “What’s going on?” Jaime asked. “Link your castle Jaime, tell them to check the turrets.” Robert replied. “Check for what?” Jaime asked. “Hadley’s Army.” Robert replied.
