Sweet Pea burst through the portal into the front hall of the Fae castle and straight into the conference room.
Those that knew who she was stopped dead in their tracks.
“Whose child is this?” Otis boomed looking around the table. While he knew of the child he did not know what she looked like.
Esmeralda ran in behind her. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t stop her. She isn’t supposed to be in this world.”
Sweet Pea stood at the table and looked around the room.
“You are all in grave danger.” She warned.
“Remove the child.” Otis waved his hand dismissively.
“OTIS, YOU’RE MANNERS!” Todd roared angrily. He turned to the child, kneeling in front of her and sweeping her into a hug.
“Uncle Todd, you are all in grave danger.” Sweet Pea whispered. Amelia walked over and moved them out into the library.
“What is it Sweet Pea?” Amelia asked quietly.
“I wouldn’t risk this if it weren’t important.” Sweet Pea began. “Whitney is a lost soul, a child who was never supposed to be. She has the soul of a witch who has practised dark arts in her. You have had problems with her have you not?” She asked.
Esmeralda walked in and smiled at the three of them. “I’m sorry, she just ran through.” She began.
“It’s ok Esmeralda, could you give us a minute? Could you maybe ask for Lola and Magnus to join us?” Amelia asked.
Esmeralda nodded and walked away. Magnus and Lola returned minutes later.
“Otis is going crazy in there; we are running out of time.” Magnus began.
“What’s your take on Whitney?” Todd asked.
Lola shivered.
“Let me narrow it down. In your opinion, could Whitney be a lost soul?” Todd asked.
“Todd my friend, that is about the only thing that makes sense. She talks like an adult, she has lived life experience, it’s not something she has read or heard. The dark arts make sense, she is very reactive and vindictive. She actually reminds me a little of Isabella.” Magnus began.
Lola stopped, her eyes staring in shock. “I heard a story of the day Miranda and Isabella’s mother died. That their father forced Miranda to use dark arts to save them. I couldn’t verify that story though.” Lola shrugged.
“Who could have put a lost soul into Whitney. Is a baby not conceived with a soul?” Amelia asked.
“Yes, always. In fact, it is widely believed the soul comes before the vessel.” Magnus replied.
“So, Whitney was just a vessel for the lost soul. She isn’t Will and Esmeraldas daughter?” Todd asked clearly confused. “But who could have done that?”
“The Fates.” Sweet Pea said through gritted teeth. “At the very least the Fates would have had to ok it.”
“So, when they only saw one child originally, we thought it was because Whitney was hiding Wyatt, but it was because there was only one child there?” Amelia asked.
“They have gone to far! I will round up the other Deity’s and we will deal with this!” Sweet Pea said angrily.
“But what will happen to Whitney?” Todd asked.
“She was never meant to be, and she is dangerous. One of the things you need for a resurrection spell is a demon or demon blood. A deal has been made and it will be to no one’s benefit in the end.” Magnus muttered.
Esmeralda stuck her head in the door. “Otis is demanding everyone join the meeting.” She said smiling.
Todd nodded, “We’re coming now.” He smiled.
“Return home but keep us in the loop.” Amelia said to Sweet Pea giving her a hug.
Sweet Pea nodded and walked out of the library and back into the portal.
“Thank you for finally joining us!” Otis roared.
“Get on with it Otis.” Robert snarled.
“Are we truly going to let a two year old child take control of such a serious mission?” He demanded angrily.
“What choice do we have?” Sabrina asked looking around the table. “Are you telling me any one of you could have waltzed in and got Liam and Jordan out over the last 2 years and you didn’t?”
“We aren’t saying that Sabrina, but the child is unpredictable. And she is two!” Otis continued.
“She is powerful beyond measure.” Sabrina argued.
“She is unpredictable beyond measure!” Otis retaliated.
“How about I just do it myself?” A tiny voice asked from the door way.
“Child, this is a meeting for adults.” Otis began.
“For adults to talk about me you mean. It’s getting dark, who’s coming?” She asked, opening a portal with a flick of her hand. She walked towards it as Esmeralda ran to her trying to stop her. Todd and Amelia followed with Rose and Sabrina close behind.
Otis stood and produced his own portal as Lachlan and Miranda followed through Whitney’s.
“I’m with Otis.” Lola began as she followed Otis through his portal.
“I don’t care, I just want my son back.” George cried as he ran through Otis’s portal. Everyone else stood and just to be cautious, chose to use Otis’s portal.
They stood by the tree line as the last streaks of light disappeared into the night. Whitney looked around, finding herself a solid stick.
As they watched, the large gates at the front of the castle opened and Liam and Jordan were dragged outside in chains. Rose and Sabrina dropped to their knees sobbing. This was the first time they had seen their mates in two years. They were barely recognisable and clearly in a lot of pain.
“Where is Bastian?” Eva called out.
Whitney walked forward toward the dome protecting the castle. She poked her stick at the barrier and sparks flashed. As they watched a hole seemed to appear in the barrier, spreading until it was wide enough for several people to pass through at once..
“Where is Bastian?” Eva demanded.
“You’re not getting Bastian.” Whitney replied.
Sergio and Valentina moved forward. Nobody missed Sergio’s limp from where Amelia had struck him with her sword.
Valentina raised her hands to attack Whitney. Whitney calmly glanced at her, lifting the stick. She brought it down on an angle ad Sergio roared in pain.
“This is not your fight, stand down!” Whitney demanded.
Sergio and Valentina put up their hands in surrender and stepped back. She had broken through their barrier; they knew they couldn’t win.
“Stand up and walk towards your friends.” Whitney said to Liam and Jordan.
They stood on wobbly legs and tried to walk but could not. Whitney touched their chains with her stick, and they fell away.
“Noooo.” Eva screamed. “We had a deal.”
“These men were never yours to bargain with.” Whitney replied.
Whitney turned to signal for the others to help Liam and Jordan as it was evident, they couldn’t walk. Lachlan and Todd ran forward and picked Liam up between them, carrying him back to the portals.
Eva looked at Jordan as his father and Robert moved to pick him up. She ran towards them using her vampire speed and grabbed Jordans head, pulling his head to the side.
“No, no.” George cried as he and Robert desperately tried to pull Jordan away. They watched as Jordan closed his eyes and Eva bit down into his neck.
“NOOOO!” Rose screamed as she ran forward but Whitney got there first. She used the stick to hit Eva. Eva fell to the ground, still conscious but in shock.
“He’ll come back to me. He’ll come back to me, or I might start sharing what I know about the Chosen One!” Eva screamed.
Jordan stopped and turned to look at her.
“I will kill you one day Eva. Rest assured, mine will be the last face you ever see.” He said quietly as he fell into his fathers’ arms. George and Robert picked him up and carried him through the portals.
Whitney stood in front of Eva, watching as Jordans blood dripped from her face.
“What do you want?” Eva hissed.
“Free Isabella from the Dwarven castle and I will restore your king.” Whitney said quietly.
“And why would you do that?” Eva asked.
” Because I want Isabella free.” Whitney shrugged. “You wont need to contact me when it is done, I will know.” With that Whitney turned and walked away.
