"He…Hello." Mia blushed slightly as she looked at the incomparably handsome vampire in front of her, answering in a soft low voice.
After the greeting, Mia's gaze lingered on Selwyn, her mind racing to recall any mention of him.
"What's wrong?" Selwyn said, showing a quizzical smile.
Mia asked with some uncertainty, "Are you really Selwyn?"
Selwyn smiled and said, "Of course."
Mia coughed lightly and pretended to be profound. "Although Selena has described you roughly to me, I'm still not 100 percent sure you're her cousin, Selwyn. So, just in case, please show me something to prove your identity."
"No problem." Selwyn agreed readily and presented his second accessory, the Stygian Flameblade, one of the Three Blood Blades.
The Stygian Flameblade is crafted from the darkest obsidian. It is infused with the fiery essence of the underworld.
Its blade, as black as midnight, gleams with sinister crimson flames that dance along its edge, casting an eerie glow in the shadows.
Ancient runes adorn the hilt, pulsating with malevolent energy and emanating an aura of darkness and dread.
Mia's eyes widened in awe as she beheld the Stygian Flameblade, her breath catching in her throat at the sight of its ominous beauty. The crimson flames glow in the room, captivating her senses with its malevolent energy.
Despite her nerves, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence in the presence of such a powerful artifact. She forced a hard swallow, her hands trembling slightly as she wanted to touch the blade but refrained due to its danger.
As she withdrew her hand, Mia's gaze met Selwyn's, a mixture of curiosity and respect reflected in her eyes. "As Selena said, thank you," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, filled with a newfound sense of trust and wonder.
"No worries."
"Are you here to see Selena? But she may not be able to come out and talk to you." Mia said.
"I know, she went into a deep sleep."
Mia was surprised. "How do you know that?"
Selwyn laughed. "Of course, I know. That's because I am the one who made the medicine you drank this morning."
"So, there are side effects? Then why did you let it be drunk?" Mia said it in shock.
"It's just a small punishment."
Selwyn paused and sighed low, "She hurt our feelings so badly. She just left without a word, leaving behind a nearly desperate us. It was...unpredictable, Selena."
After speaking, Selwyn is silent for a moment but quickly changes the topic. "So this time, I'm not here for Selena but for you, Miss Carlan."
"Looking for me? Is there anything I can help with?" Mia asked.
Selwyn nodded gently. "Yes, I would like to ask you to help us find the ancient book of the Ramirez family."
"What's that?"
Selwyn mused, "It's a bit complicated, and I can't explain it in a moment. In short, it's a relic of our clan's first queen, an ancient book called 'Crystal.' It is essential to our clan and is also related to Selena's resurrection."
"This book can bring Selena back to life," Mia said in surprise.
"Well, we do know the approximate area. But we are unable to obtain the precise location. "
"Why?" Mia c****d her head.
Selwyn smiled helplessly. "Because the book is now located inside Eden Castle, which not only has the largest collection of supernatural books in the human world, but it's also the headquarters for vampire hunters."
Mia widens her eyes. "This is indeed impossible to find."
Selwyn suddenly deepened his smile. "We would like to solve this in a peaceful way, and that's why we need your help."
Mia blinked rapidly and looked nervously at Selwyn.
Sure enough, Selwyn had more to say. "You're human and know the insiders, so they'll naturally let their guard down on you. In this way, you can sneak in quietly first, then obtain the information about the ancient book 'Crystal' to inform me and the others, and then..."
Selwyn suddenly smiled. "Of course, I was joking. We were just hoping you could ask around."
"How did you realize I knew the heiress of the Eden family?" Mia asked.
"Riley was the one who told me. Oh? So she's the heiress. That's even better."
Mia mused, "Actually, it doesn't have to be so troublesome. I'll talk to Sandra directly. She probably will agree to lend me the book."
"That is wonderful. You've really done us a favor."
Mia bit the inside of her cheek, and she hesitated before asking. "With all due respect, how exactly did Selena die? She never would tell me."
Selwyn frowned slightly, a little disgruntled. "She won't even tell you? Well, let me let you know that it was very infuriating. She abandoned all others that year, foolishly led herself to her demise, and then passed away."
Can't you be more specific?
Never mind. I'd rather not ask.
The more Selwyn thought about it, the angrier he got. "Selena chose to go to the appointment, knowing that Bethnael was going to kill her. Definitely out of her mind!"
But how incompetent am I for failing to stop her? Selwyn couldn't help but think grimly.
"Bethnael? Who's that?"
Selwyn glanced at her and slowly said, "Bethnael was originally an angel who controlled the light but later fell because of her blatant rebellion against God. The destroying angel tore her body into pieces, but God's mercy allowed her to survive in the form of light. She lost her physical body, which brought us so much trouble. Bethnael easily took over Natalie's body for killing Selena."
Mia listened in bemusement, and then again, who was Natalie?
The dialogue continued for a little while before ending. Mia returned to her bedroom to do her homework with her messy thoughts.
With a cheeky grin, Selwyn Louis remained in her living room, casually watching TV.
Sitting on the sofa, the handsome vampire, with his short, crisp silver hair and ruby-red eyes, had a gentle nature that made him look less like a cold, bloodthirsty creature of the night.
The colored light emitted by the television flickered on his face, but his eyes were not focused on the screen, and no one knew what he was thinking.
Suddenly, a cold wind poured in through the bedroom window, causing the crimson curtains to bulge. The man in the black coat leaped into the room, his dark blue eyes sweeping coldly around.
Selwyn opened the bedroom door, leaned against the doorframe, and smiled to greet him. "Alistair, you're here."
Alistair glanced at him and asked, "Is Selena awake?" Alistair's expression softened at the mention of Selena's name.
Selwyn shrugged and replied, "Not yet. That d**g has a three-day side effect."
Alistair was silent, but the look in his eyes told Selwyn he felt something unfortunate.
Selwyn smiled and said, "Don't worry, we'll see her again soon. Take a few days to seek out the ancient book of the Ramirez family. Then..."
"Let her take her revenge." Alistair continues.
Selwyn nods, "Yes. By the way, Alistair, what method should we use to get the 'Crystal' into our hands? Trading?"
Alistair raised an eyebrow at that. "Trading with vampire hunters? Are you kidding me?"
"Then what should we do?"
"Hard robbery, of course. Don't forget the debt they owe us." Alistair sneered.
"Well, you are right. It seems that Miss. Carlan has a good friendship with the heiress of the Eden family, which might help." Selwyn said after a moment's consideration.
Alistair narrowed his eyes and asked, "Do you think she'll succeed?"
Selwyn slowly shook his head. "She won't."
The next day, lunch break.
Mia ran upstairs to the tutorial room, found Sandra Eden, then dragged a chair and sat beside her.
Sandra put down the book she was holding, looked up at her, and asked, "What's wrong? I heard you were looking for me everywhere."
Mia got straight to the point and said, "Sandra, may I ask you to borrow me a book?"
"Oh? Which one?"
Mia stroked her jaw and said, "I think it's the ancient book of the Ramirez family."
Sandra raised an eyebrow and said, "What's that? Is that the name of the book?"
Mia tilted her head, attempting to recall her conversation with Selwyn yesterday. "I believe the ancient book belonging to the Ramirez family also bears the name Crystal."
"What did you say? Crystal? Where did you get that name from? Is it the demon?" Sandra's emotions were so intense that she braced herself violently on the table and stood up, causing the empty table and chairs in the back seat to fall into a heap.
The intense noise startled the other students in the classroom, who all turned to the center of the commotion with searching eyes.
Mia was so shocked. She had never seen the arrogant and forceful Sandra lose her cool like this.
Mia panicked under Sandra's intense gaze and stammered. "No, no, it's not the demon. I recently read about it in an ancient document and was curious about what kind of book it was. May I borrow it, Sandra?"
"No way! Any book will do, just not that one." Sandra's tone was firm.
Mia was a little disappointed. "Okay..."
Seeing Mia's crestfallen expression, Sandra's guilt softened her tone. "It's not that I'm unwilling to lend it to you. That book is just too dangerous. Besides, I don't know where it is. My grandfather sealed it long ago. I'm afraid that only my grandfather knows where it is."
Confused, Mia asked, "Dangerous? Why? Isn't that just a book?"
"It wasn't just an ordinary book." Sandra said quietly, "Seventy years ago, an angel once gave the 'Crystal' to my grandfather for safekeeping, with instructions to never let it fall into the hands of a demon, or else the world would be plunged into demonic fear."
"An angel?" Mia frowned slightly as she thought of Selwyn's words.
"Yes. Grandfather said that angels descended with holy light and that she must be the Seraphim surrounding the throne of God without a doubt."
"So, your grandfather saw the angel's face?"
Sandra was puzzled. "Why do you ask? Angels are beings of spiritual light. They are not physical."
Mia fell silent, pondering Sandra's words. It dawned on Mia that Sandra might have been misled.
Selwyn had said yesterday that "Crystal," the ancient book of the Ramirez family, was in the hands of the fallen angel Bethnael.
