FLINDER
Her eyelids felt heavy. Slowly opening her eyes, she found herself in the hospital suit again. She had no idea what happened or how she got here. Flinder tried to sit up, but she had no strength in her body. As she laid down, she was wondering how Max was doing. She hadn't felt his emotions for over a week now. She was worried about him. What if his father came back?
A nurse walked into the room without knocking. ‘Oh, Flinder, you're awake.’
‘Yeah, I am. How did I get here?’ Flinder asked. She tried sitting up again. When the nurse saw her struggling, she came over to help her.
‘You don't remember?’
‘If I had, I didn't ask, right?’ Flinder was still grumpy. She still had no star powers and she wasn't happy about it.
‘I will get Angel Georgina. She will explain everything.’
The nurse left the room and Angel Georgina came after a few minutes. ‘How are you feeling?’ Angel Georgina took a chair and sat down next to Flinders bed.
‘Better.’
‘You look better, that's for sure. You gave us quit a scare, Flinder. You had a very high fever and you have been sleeping for almost three days.’
‘How is that even possible?’ Remembering all the studies on Angels, Flinder learned Angels couldn't get sick. Angels could only die from a special kind of iron swords, that took away star powers and when stabbed through the heart it could be fatal.
‘It is possible..’
Flinder filled in her sentence: ‘When Angels been stripped of their powers.’
Angel Georgina nodded. ‘I'm so sorry. We will get you outside tonight, so you can pray to the stars again. You will need extra time, so we scheduled two hours for you. I will ask you one thing in return. You can't tell anyone about this. Clarity’s memory of you being sick is been erased. She doesn't remember anything.’
Flinder was in shock. They erased Clarity's memory? What else can they do? She nodded. Angel Georgine took off and Flinder was alone again. What was going on around here? Why erase someone's memory from finding out Angels get could sick? She had a lot of questions. She knew she would never get answers though. Angels had a lot of secrets. She was one of them.
After dinner in the hospital suit, she was escorted by Angel Jules. He was a young Angel, who got his wings last year. He was also very arrogant. Walking outside felt so good right now. Flinder looked at the beautiful sky above her. The stars were bright and she could feel their powers again. Angel Jules brought her to a large field, behind the Angel academy. Flinder never went here before and she wondered why. It was beautiful here. Surrounding the field there were large pots with flowers in all colors. In the middle of the field there was a large statue of an Angel.
‘Here.’ Angel Jules said in front of the Angels statue. ‘Here you will pray to the stars. I hope for your sake, they will give you strength once again. You're almost eighteen, right?’
‘Yes.’ Flinder said. Angel Jules acted really strange. Why was he asking her about her age? What will happen to her when she gets her wings? She shook away her thoughts and turned around to face the Angel statue. Sitting on her knees, she placed her hands together and bowed her head.
I, Floriana Derluca, pray upon the stars. To give me strength and power. To protect me from harm. Guide me to be good. Guide me to be better. I promise to protect the humans. I promise to use my powers with the light within me. Please lend me your strength. I desperately need it.
