Chapter fourteen

I leave Valentina, apparently feeling a little better, and head towards Leo’s office. Im probably ten feet away when Michael intercepts me. He looks sad, I know Claire has cried alot and I cant even begin to imagine what they are going through. It must not be easy to have a son like that. In all honesty I don't even believe that Johnny is all that bad of a person. He just made the wrong choices and that is something he has to pay for. 

“Emma, can we please speak?”

I have a mindful to say something like - oh so now you acknowledge me- but out of respect I just nod. He gestures me to come to the kitchen with him, Claire is there and has made some tea. In my head all I can think of is -NO I'm not gonna drink your tea- but I just sit there quietly waiting for them to speak. At this point of course I have mind linked Leo letting him know whats happening. Michael begins the conversation...

“Emma, I just want you to know I truly am sorry for everything Johnny did. He is sloppy and immature.” Im so confused as to what specifically it is he is apologizing for. The fact that he kidn*pped me or that he didn't get to finish the job aka killing me. I stay silent as if allowing him to proceed. 

“What he did is wrong and we know that, we are not asking of you to forgive him entirely but try putting yourself in his shoes.” He gets interrupted right there and then by nonetheless, my father who places his hand in my shoulder while saying...

“She is in his shoes, Julian is next in line to take over our pack and you don't see Emma attempting to kidnap him, yet worst... kill him.” 

Michael has his angry face again about being interrupted and before he can say anything Leo walks inside the kitchen and says father I’d like you to meet my father in Law this is Alpha Morgan White, Emma’s father and Teresa White Luna of Black blood pack and Emma’s mother. 

Morgan, Teresa; these are my parents Michael and Claire. 

They bow in respect to my parents, and I get up and hug them tight.

They embrace me in the warmest hug I could possibly ask for, I didn't know I needed one of those this bad. 

“Oh dear Im so happy to see you” says my father 

“I thought I’d never see you again” says my mother before they pull me in a tight hug again.

Leo directs himself to his parents. “This is the other side of the story. Think of what would have happened to this family and to me if Johnny would’ve had success in his plan.”

I turn around to face them and I tell them, “look I know you are parents, I will be one, one day as well. I understand Johnny chose the wrong path, he made bad choices. But that is something he has to learn from. Thats why instead of allowing his death on the spot. Its important that the superiors get involved to help him get back on the right paths. In due time, he will be forgiven. But for now he is where he is supposed to be.” Finally, Claire and Michael seem to understand what is happening and I can actually see as their faces change from hatred to acknowledgement. 

Valentina is walking inside of the kitchen to grab some food like I had asked her to do - not wanting her to get sick- when she sees my parents, squeals and attempts to make a run for it. 

“Where are you heading to young lady?” 

She attempts a weak guilty smile and before she has the chance to plead her case my mother brings her in a tight hug. “We missed you too and we know you did the best you could.” She laughs and hugs them tight there is something about parents that just makes you feel at home, at ease. 

Im hugging leo at this point to bring closer to my family and without hesitation my father says “good to put a face to the name son” and they hug. As they are all hugging I look at leo’s parents they look like they need a hug as well and so I give them one. 

They seemed surprised at first but quickly give in and hug me back. 

After about half an hour of catching up in the kitchen Leo and I head outside as we gather the crowd. He begins his statement “As you all know we officially have a Luna in our pack” everyone cheers at me. But as a-lot of you also know because of the rumors... almost a year and a month ago, to avoid confrontation between us. My father put a clause in our agreement that if I didn't find a Luna by a set time I would give Johnny a chance to be Alpha. I refused to be with anybody that wasn't my mate and to my fortune, when I was attacked at Optum town I met Emma, my mate; your Luna. Johnny didn't seem to like the idea so he made a deal with some rogues kidn*pped our Luna and planned on killing her if it weren't for our intervention.” Everyone gasped. “The superiors have been contacted and there will be a trial held. They will be arriving in 2 days until then, they will be kept in the dungeons. If anybody has questions or information to add please feel free to seek me in my office.” 

We head to the dungeons to see Johnny. We want to Inform him of whats happening and when we get there we find him sitting in his cell, he is crying. “No need, mother already told me what happened. I truly am sorry” he says as he looks at me. “I believe you” I say and Leo and I exit the place. 

“Do you believe him?” I ask Leo. 

“In all honesty?” He says.

“Of course”

“No, something seems fishy” - he finally admits

“I thought so too.”

We sigh as we enter the pack house. Are the gods planning on giving us a break? I ask Solenna to help my parents get settled and we agree to meet for lunch. It’s gonna be a long day.
