Sudden Meeting

Pacing about worriedly, Kreed’s anger was slowly rising. They had searched the school and couldn’t seem to find Kieran. Neither were they able to find Killian. They’ve tried their cells countless times and it wasn’t going through. That whole ordeal made Kreed angry. The fact that his twin never takes anything seriously. It was baffling to him that he often times wonder, how can they be so similar and at the same time completely different. It was a mystery to him, one that has given him more headache than solutions, so he had decide to stop thinking about it. But days like these, he couldn’t help but revisit those thoughts again. He glanced at Niklaus who seemed preoccupied with the book he was reading. He laid back on the teacher’s chair with his feet up on the desk. He had a corny smile planted on his face. He didn’t seem bothered by the situation at all. From what Kreed could tell, he and Kieran were a little alike. Since they first met him till now, they’ve never seen a serious look on his face. He sighed, tapping his left foot on the floor whilst checking his watch. “Hey!” He heard the whisper beside him. He shifted his gaze to the direction and saw Raven standing by the window overseeing the hallway. “What’s up?” His eyes lit up. “Are you okay? You seem worried. You didn’t even notice my presence” She asked with furrowed brows “Yeah sorry. I’m just….we can’t find Kieran” He replied “What’s going on?” She moved closer to the window, looking a bit worried now also. “We were picked to be among the special group the Alpha was talking about. That’s why we are here. Diamond, Ace, Kieran and I and some other strong wolves in school. But we can’t find Kieran and we can’t start until everyone is complete. His phone is not going through and neither is Killian’s. We think they both ditched school” He explained, failing to hide his anger. “I’m sure he’ll turn up soon” “He better. I’m gonna knock him out if he doesn’t” He tightened his fist. “Why wasn’t I selected though?” She asked with a puzzled look, feeling left out. Kreed noticed this and tried to think of a way to phrase the words to not make her more upset or left out. He searched his head quickly but couldn't find the right words and ended up blurting out “They just picked the strongest”. He saw the look in her eyes and realized he uttered the worst words. “I mean, they just picking the top students in the school” He tried to correct his mistake but realized he was making it worse. “Killian wasn’t selected also….” “Stop! Just stop!” She cut him off ‘Damn it!’ He cursed inwardly. “I understand. I don’t have any feats yet and I just got my wolf so I don’t have the criteria to make the cut yet” She explained. “I understand, stop shooting yourself in the foot” She smiled at him. “Thanks babe” He sighed with relief. “Where the hell is Kieran?” He gritted his teeth with anger. *** Kieran glanced from Killian to this mystery man and then back to Killian and back to the mystery man again. “What do you mean ‘Dad’?” He questioned again, with a still confused look. For all the years he had known Killian, he had never met a family member of his. Not a mother, a father, nor a sibling. Whenever they got around to that topic, he always made one statement, ‘I am a lone wolf’. And now all of a sudden, this mysterious man standing before them is being called dad. “I see your friends don’t know I exist” Cicada sat up, his bare feet on the cold floor. “Kieran, this is Cicada, my father” Killian introduced, anger still in his voice. Cicada looked over at Kieran, examining him from head to toe and then his eyes worked its way back up to Kieran’s hair. “Snow White hair” He uttered and then smiled. “Very familiar” Not knowing what he meant by that, Kieran paid no mind to it. What he was wondering about at that moment, was why Killian was using a different name in school if his father’s name is Cicada. They knew him as Killian McKay in school. That made him realize just how much Killian wanted to cut ties with his family. But why? That was a reason unknown, and as his best friend, he was determined to find out why. “What do you want? Why are you here?” Killian blurted out, not hiding his distaste for the situation. “Is that anyway to greet the father you haven’t seen in well over a year?” Cicada asked, smiling crookedly. “I don’t have time for any of this. Let’s go Kieran” Killian picked up the coupon cards they came for and turned toward the direction of the door. “Alright fine…” Cicada called out and then stood up to his feet. He was taller than Kieran had expected. Taller than him even though he himself was 6’2. He also was more buff. “I came to check up on you” Cicada confessed, staring out the window. “You expect me to believe that crap? How did you even know where I live?” “You think I would let you go into the world without keeping an eye on you?” He scoffed lightly and began making his way to the door. “I’m not the monster you think I am” “You do a pretty good job showing that” Killian mocked “I can see you’re doing well…time to be on my way” He began putting on his shoes. “Of course” Killian sneered, resentment in his eyes “See you around Snow White” He said to Kieran before making his way out and shutting the door upon his exit. “What the hell just happened?” Kieran asked, standing in disbelief. “Let’s just go” Killian sighed and made his way toward the exit. *** With the gentle breeze moving round the woods, caressing everything in its path, the sun didn’t seem that hot. It was warm instead. Under the covering of the towering trees, Alpha Damien stood face to face with Rayne. He stared at the dark red signature robe of Kemuri which Rayne had on. It fitted him like a glove. Seeing that, he felt a twinge of guilt in his heart. He sighed and looked away. Rayne took off the hood of the robe and the head of his sword could be seen hanging on his back, inside the robe. He fixed his eyes on the Alpha, watching as the Alpha found it hard to keep his eyes on him. “Is there something you need?” He asked, his face expressionless. “The Red Lotus….what do you know about them?” The Alpha asked. “As much as you do probably. Their leader wears a mask and no one knows of his true identity. They are gathering up followers and their motive is to cleanse the world of Direwolves” He explained and then stopped for a few seconds. “Why?” “They are our enemies” “So are we. Though we aren’t going after Direwolves like they are, we are going after Crescent wolves…finishing off what the Black Lotus started….and I can assure you, Scar won’t hesitate to put down anyone or anything that stands in his way of achieving that, even a fellow clan member” “I see” Alpha Damien replied, thinking about it. After a few seconds, he looked up at Rayne and asked the most important question he wanted to ask. “My Luna was taken. What do you know about it?” “I know nothing about that. If it was the Red Lotus, then you know where to channel your energy. But if it was my group, then I was left out of the loop. But whoever it was that took her, you have your work cut out for you. I personally don’t have a reason to care” Rayne replied with a straight face, his voice and expression devoid of emotions. His emotionless reaction made Alpha Damien wonder. Was that who he was, or was that who he had become? Either way, it was a foreseen development given what happened. “I see” Said, the Alpha. “You’re sick aren’t you?” The Alpha’s sudden question took him by surprise. He saw the surprise on Rayne’s face and continued. “The binding spell done on you when you were exiled doesn’t just suppress your wolf. I know you can’t shift or bring out your fangs and claws. You can only use your Alpha eyes, wolf strength and speed because you're from the Direwolf clan. But you’re sick, and dying. That’s because if your wolf is suppressed for too long with the binding spell, it starts affecting the host. Your health will start deteriorating and if you don’t find a solution for it, you will die” He explained Rayne said nothing but kept staring at the Alpha. He had nothing to say because all the Alpha was saying was the truth. “That is why you came back to town, to the pack, risking your life. You came back to look for the moonstone, the only way you could break the curse and heal yourself. Did you kill the elder?” The Alpha asked. “It doesn’t matter. We all are in a bit of a dilemma, including your little sister, Raven…” He saw Rayne’s eyes lit up when he mentioned his sister. “I know you’re still protecting her from the shadows, but I’m afraid with what’s coming, that won’t be enough. I’m sure you know that” Having heard enough, Rayne, put on his hood, covering his ponytail. He didn’t say a word. He turned and began walking away. “Rayne!” The Alpha’s voice stopped him on his tracks but he didn’t turn back to face him again, he just stood still. “No one must ever know….no one” He instructed. Rayne didn’t reply but continued on his journey. Alpha Damien stood there, watching him till he was out of sight.
