Disturbed

"You've got to be kidding me" Diamond stood in awe, staring at her friend after hearing the bombshell she just dropped. She stared at her in silence, her long, silver colored hair covering half of her face. She kept staring at Raven with her mouth slightly agape from shock. "How's that even possible?" She finally asked. "I don't know D" She plumped down on the bed with a loud sigh, pulling her legs under her. "Kreed and Kieran....wow! Just....wow" Diamond scoffed with disbelief, standing by the window. As much as she was surprised and trying to make sense of it, the news was also concerning to her. She knew what that meant going forward. "What am I going to do D? Kreed is mad at me because I haven't rejected his brother yet..." "It's obvious what you have to do. I mean you have to pick your boyfriend. Isn't this what you guys wanted? Regardless of the development, you have to go on with what you've originally planned for. Becoming mates with your boyfriend" She explained as best as she could. "Of course I know that but...." Raven paused, falling into thoughts. She had no idea what to say. "Why haven't you rejected Kieran anyway?" Diamond's brows furrowed, staring at her friend curiosly. "I...I don't know" "Do you have feelings for him or something?" She inquired "No! Of course not" Raven replied almost too quickly. "Then rejecting him shouldn't be an issue" "Yeah you're right. I'm leaving tonight with the elder to go learn how to control my wolf. When I come back, I'll do it, I'll reject him" She stated firmly. "Good" Diamond nodded, uttering a sigh of relief and joining her on the bed. *** Moving swiftly, Kieran dodged the incoming punch and quickly countered with a kick, but his leg was caught and used to hurl him, throwing him to the other side of the room. He rolled to a stop on the floor, laying on his back. He began staring at the roof, breathing heavily. "What's wrong kiddo? You're full of openings...unlike you to be taken down that easily" Alpha Damien asked, walking up to him. He offered his hand to Kieran and helped him to his feet. Ever since Kieran came to his home and asked to spar, he could tell something was wrong. He knew he was right, seeing how the boy has been lost in his head, and have been getting overpowered easily since they started the training. "Well...Kreed's girlfriend, Raven, finally got her wolf and her mates" "Raven...." Alpha Damien called with squinted eyes, as if he was trying to remember something. "Isn't she Rayne's little sister?" "Yeah" Kieran nodded "Wait...what do you mean 'mates'?" Walking to the corner of the sparring room, Kieran sighed, leaned against the wall and slid down, sitting on the floor. "It turns out, Kreed and I are both her mates" "Oh wow. That's a problem" "Yeah. Surprising to me and everyone, she hasn't rejected me yet. She looks conflicted. And now Kreed is mad at her and at me as well" "Understandable. I mean she's his girlfriend after all" "Yeah. I've never had an issue with him concerning girls. Neither have I ever thought of betraying him by going after his girl....." He stated and paused. "But, I don't know if it's the mate bond or not....but I don't want her to reject me" "That's a bigger problem" Alpha Damien pointed out. "I know it is. I thought us Direwolves don't get mates but choose our own mates by sleeping with them intimately. I'm sure they must have done that plenty of times, meaning they've been bonded already. Right?" "Yeah" "So why is this happening?" He asked curiously "Raven isn't a Direwolf like us, which means she gets her mate like other wolves. So it doesn't matter if she's bonded with someone other than her mate...when she runs into her intended mate, she's going to feel it like every other wolf like her that isn't from our clan. It just turns out that her mate became her boyfriend who she's already bonded to and his twin brother" Alpha Damien explained. "I see..." Kieran shifted his gaze into the empty space, looking deep in thoughts. "What do you suggest I do?" He asked quietly. "I can't tell you what to do. But I can tell you what not to do. Don't start a war with your brother for someone who wasn't originally yours. Not only will you be betraying and backstabbing him, but you'll be splitting your family apart" He advised "Hmm...you're right, I guess" He sighed, standing up to his feet just before the door flung open. They both turned their attention to the door to see who it was. "Hey! You're here" Diamond stated, smiling on seeing Kieran. She walked over to him and hugged him. "Hey moonhead" Kieran hugged her also. "You're never gonna stop calling me that, are you?" She broke the hug, smiling before making her way to Alpha Damien. "Not as long as your hair color remains silver" He quipped. "Hey dad" She smiled at the Alpha, hugging him also. "Hey" Alpha Damien greeted. "So what are you two doing here? Don't tell me you guys came to spar again" She rolled her eyes. "I guess we are telling you nothing then" Kieran quipped. "Very funny" "Anyway, I have to leave now. I've been gone for too long and I have something I need to take care of also. So bye guys. Thanks Uncle Damien" He headed straight for the door. "Later kiddo" Alpha Damien called after him, watching him exit the room. "Is he okay? He doesn't look okay?" Diamond asked with concern in her voice, staring at the door. "He will be" He replied and glanced at his daughter. He saw the look in her eyes as she kept staring at the door. She looked sad and concern. He knew she was worried and very concerned about him. He wasn't oblivious of his daughter's feelings. He had taken notice of how she always acts around Kieran and how she always stared at him with affection. "Let's go help your mother" He stated, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Hmm..yeah...right" She cleared her throat, walking toward the door behind her father. *** Standing in the empty room where only the remnants of his father and uncle he never knew were kept, he kept on staring at the masks which were hung carefully on the wall. But his eyes were mostly fixed on the one he knew was his father's. Whenever he needed to think, that room had been his place of solace. He had a lot of thoughts going through his mind. He was angry but above all, he was scared, scared about losing his mate. He couldn't understand what was so difficult about her rejecting his twin brother. The delay was putting thoughts in his head. Thoughts like maybe something was going on between them. But he never let the thought settle in his mind. He knew his twin would never betray him like that. That was something he knew for sure. "There you are!" His mother announced, walking into the room. "I saw the door to the room open and knew it must be you. I'm glad you've returned home" She smiled softly, standing next to him and joining him in staring at the mask. They stared at it in silence for almost a minute before Tessa broke the silence. "The mask, the robe next to it and you guys are the only things I have left of your father. But most of all, I still have him in my heart, him being my mate and all" She smiled, falling into thoughts of the past. "I never understood the idea behind the mask. I never had the chance to ask him while he was alive. I only found out from Damien after his death. He told me they wore the mask not to hide their identity, but to hide them from themselves..." With furrowed brows, Kreed glanced at her. "That doesn't make any sense" "Hear me out. Having the whole burden of revenge and hatred they grew up with, they had only one goal...vengeance on all the wolves who weren't Direwolves. They knew the weight of what they had to do. For anyone to be able to do that, you must lose your humanity. So they always wore the robe and the mask to assume a new identity. To convince themselves they weren't the ones doing those inhuman things. So the mask wasn't to hide themselves and their identity from the world, but to hide themselves from themselves. If that makes any sense" "Just a little" He smiled briefly on seeing the smile his mother was smiling at him. But his sadness immediately returned, his smile fading. "What do I do mom? I don't want to lose her. And I don't know why, I feel I'm gonna lose her" He aired his fear. "You're not gonna lose her. Kieran would never do that to you, you know that. But you have to understand what she's going through right now. She loves you, we all know that. But a mate bond feeling, messes with your head and emotions. As much as she loves you, the mate link she's having with Kieran also will definitely make things complicated for her. Trust me, I know that. When a mate link was established between your father and I, though I was unaware then, but because of that bond, I was always ready to die for him, without thinking twice. That's how strong a mate bond is. So you shouldn't be angry at her right now but be gentle and try to be there for her and help her organize her thoughts and emotions so she can make the right decision" Tessa explained and advised. "I didn't see it like that. I never thought about how it was for her. Thanks mom. I guess I was being selfish with my feelings. I was beginning to think there was probably something going on between she and Kieran" He pointed out. "I don't think that's the case. Kieran would never hurt you by having something to do with your girlfriend. We both know that. That's the kind of person he is. So be rest assured that nothing was between them or is going on between them. Just go find her and talk with her" "Yeah. Thanks again mom" He nodded, uttering a sigh of relief. That was the most relieved he's been since the revelation. He was going to take his mother's advice and go see her and talk with her and try to understand what's going on with her. *** Hearing the doorbell ring continuously, Raven began heading for the door. She didn't bother to alert whoever it was that she was coming so they could stop ringing the bell. She walked over there in silence. As she got close to the door, she felt it immediately. The mate bond. It was a feeling she hadn't gotten used to and that got her emotions riled up. She unlocked the door and pulled it open eagerly, wanting to talk to Kreed seeing as he was angry with her. She wanted to make him understand what was happening. But to her surprise, it was Kieran standing there instead. Her heart skipped a beat on seeing him standing there. "K..Kieran" She called, almost whispering. "Hey Raven. I just wanted to know...." He paused, standing there without bothering to go inside. "Why haven't you rejected me? Is it because you're overwhelmed?....Or is it because of what happened between us?" He blurted out, staring at her worried and confused eyes. She was taken aback by his question and now she stood there, not knowing what to say.
