Brocc rolled out of the way as his sister yet again morphed into a giant spider.
“Not again,” he muttered.
The other vegetables transformed into giant abstractions of their former selves, beastly and tall as skyscrapers.
Princess Astrid and Queen Julienne were giant, gnashing carrots with crooked teeth. They were fused into each other, walking on four legs.
The Brussels sprout was winged and sulphuric-breathing.
The lettuce had transformed into a serpent.
The spinach and Swiss chard were waddling, giant versions of themselves with red eyes and high-pitched screams.
One by one, the monsters stomped toward each of the Cube shaped holes and jumped through.
“Super foods,” Brocc said. “Someone is summoning them.”
