Chapter 1: (Stella)
Stella's bedazzled dress sparkled with the harsh flashes of the cameras. Feeling nervous and queasy, she held onto Damien's hand even tighter, trying to beat the anxiety. "Nervous?", he whispered after leaning in. "A little", she chuckled nervously. This was her first public appearance with Damien and being the girlfriend of one of Hollywood's best young male actors, this was going to be a routine that she had to get used to and she was willing to go through the hell of it because she loved Damien. Stella was a beautiful curvy black woman, her afro standing tall and proud like a crown and her beautiful brown eyes glowing in the spotlight. Her luscious full lips pulled into a smile as the press took pictures of the couple at the press junket of the movie Damien had played a major role in. Damien looked at Stella taking in her beauty, she was everything he wanted. She was smart, loving, beautiful and she did love him. He enjoyed her company and she kept him sane in the midst of Hollywood's madness and the pressure. Damien was having such a great time with Stella and he didn't want this moment to end. However, for some reason he couldn't shake off the feeling that this happiness was short-lived, which was something that always happened. He would experience a short moment of bliss and then chaos would follow right after that. It was a familiar routine. Damien shook off the unpleasant thoughts and decided to just enjoy the moment as much as he could. He let go of Stella's hand and grabbed her by the waist pulling her closer to him enjoying the warmth of her body. He had hopelessly fallen for her for sure. *** Stella was tired and worn out from the events of the night and all she wanted to do was go home, take a shower and get some sleep. After Damien dropped her off, she kissed him goodbye and watched him drive off. She reached for her house key in her purse and when she found it, she tried to unlock the door but it was already open. "I left the door open?", she thought to herself, "How careless of me." Stella figured she might have forgotten to lock the door because she was panicking for the press junket, so she didn't stress too much about the door being open. Stella went to the shower and let the hot water run while she took off her clothes and grabbed her towel, waiting for the water to be just the right temperature. She hopped into the shower and let the hot water hit her skin and run down. She really needed this after such an exhausting night. She wet her hair, feeling the hot water touch her scalp. She grabbed her strawberry flavoured shampoo that she loved so much and poured it generously on her thick afro. She rubbed her hair, lathering it up as the sweet strawberry aroma from the shampoo hit her nose. Damien loved strawberries and he couldn't get his hands off her locks each time she used it. She loved Damien. She really did. Stella abruptly closed the faucet after hearing some shuffling coming from somewhere in the house. She quickly put on a shower cap, grabbed her towel and slowly made her way to her drawer, where she had her gun. Stella was so feminine and ladylike but she was still able to defend herself and she was independent. This is one of the things that drew Damien to her. She opened the door slowly, making her way out of her bedroom and into the hallway. She moved quietly into the living room, not trying to alert whoever it was that had broken into her house. Stella's eyes went wideopen as she scanned her living room that had now been trashed by whoever had broken in. This couldn't be a burglary. If it was, they'd just take what they wanted and left without trashing anything, she thought to herself looking from her ripped white leather sofa to the shattered glass from her round coffee table. "What are you looking for?", an unfamiliar voice suddenly whispered into her ears from behind, sending shockwaves down her spine and making her jump and turn to see who it was. How did she not hear this person coming from behind her. Stella pointed her gun at the stranger, breathing sharply. It felt like her lungs were icy. She looked at the female in front of her. She was petite, black as well but had lighter skin. She looked younger but you could tell she was just the same age was Stella. She had beautiful dreadlocks, tied into a messy bun that just gave her look some edge. she was in black ripped jeans, combat boots and a black bralette, that put her abs on display, hinting that she did work out. Her eyes with dark eyeshadow were gleaming with mischief and her beautiful lips where curled into a sinister smile. Stella wasn't one to feel insecure but at this moment, she kinda did. "Who are you and what are you doing here", Stella said in a shaky tone. "How are you trembling you're the one pointing a gun at me", the strange girl said c*****g her head to the side and taking two steps forward. Stella backed away still trembling. Something about this girl wasn't right. She had such an innocent, playful look on her face but her aura was atrocious. "Take one more step forward and I'll blow your brains out", Stella said a little firmly. "Is that a challenge? I love challenges!", she said excitedly and started to walk closer, giggling as she did. Stella's fingers trembled as she prepared herself to pull the trigger. She felt hot. Beads of sweat on her forehead as she finally pulled the trigger. Silence followed And then finally the strange girl broke into laughter. Stella panicked, pulling the trigger again but like the first time, nothing happened. She always kept her gun loaded. What had happened? "You can't shoot without any bullets dummy", the stranger said wiping off a tear from her eye after finally composing herself. She reached for something in her back pocket and put it out to show Stella. "Looking for these?", she said showing Stella the bullets. Fear creeped onto Stella's face. If she wasn't afraid before she was definitely afraid now. "What do you want from me?!", Stella yelled, starting to really lose it now. "I don't want much, really", the stranger replied, "I think I like you. Wanna be friends with me?" Stella didn't reply but looked at the stranger quizzically. "I'm Sydney by the way, Stella", she smiled. "How do you kn...." Sydney cut Stella off by putting a finger to her lips. She leaned in and Stella closed her eyes as Sydney took a good whiff. "Strawberry shampoo huh", she muttered in a more serious tone, making Stella open her eyes from the sudden change in vibe. It was almost like she was a different person now. "Is it because Damien loves strawberries?", she asked, her tone growing darker. Stella said nothing then Sydney gave her a hard slap across the face. It was all sudden and Stella didn't see it coming so she staggered a little. Sydney's breathing became sharper, her face turning red. She took in a couple of deep breaths and then returned to her calm, childlike state. "I'm really sorry about that...", she said rubbing the back of her neck, "Damien is all mine... So I get mad when he gets with other people... hopefully you understand me". This girl was crazy for sure and Stella had to get out of there. Fast. "Oh, one more thing, I'm going to need you to lend me a few fingers and toes... if that's okay with you", Sydney said smiling brightly. *** Damien yawned and stretched as he got out of Bed. He really needed that nap. "Pookie...", someone said from across the room, starling him. Only one person was capable of doing that. "What do you want Sydney", he said without turning. "You won't even look at me?". Damien didn't respond. "Oh well, I got you a little gift." "I'm not interested", Damien said sternly. Sydney clenched her jaw, irritation evident on her face. "Well, you're going to have to open it before it starts to reek, Dammy". Damien turned to look at her sharply, knowing too well what that meant. He walked over to where she was sitting, on top of his sock drawers. She had a box wrapped in Purple gift wrap, Damien's favorite color. He took the gift box from her, not looking her in the eyes and walked to his bed. Where he sat slowly, feeling his heart beat in his throat. He just stared at the box, praying it wasn't what he thought it was. After mastering the courage, he unwrapped it and opened it. Damien's heart stopped. It felt like time froze. His throat got dry, he couldn't move a muscle. He couldn't take his eyes off the contents of the box. He knew that strawberry scented hair from anywhere, and those fingers he held onto so tight just hours before. "Stella.....", was all he managed to say, as tears started to form, blurring his vision. "Do you like it, Dammy?", Sydney smiled.
